April 17, 20188 yr Whilst, I don't believe there's a conspiracy against Chelsea. I do believe we are perhaps unfairly treated at times. I remember when Matic got a two game ban for pushing Ashley Barnes who intentionally tried to snap his leg in half, the same Ashley Barnes who did the same to Ivanovic in that game yet got away scot free. Cahill was sent off at the beginning of the season for a challenge that I see go unpunished every week in the Premier League and yet in the very same game we have a borderline offside decision go against us and Fabregas gets sent off as well. Vertonghen nearly snapped Hazard's ankle in half in the game at the Bridge. Red card? Nope. Yellow? Don't be silly? Foul? You must be joking. Morata was sent off for protesting towards the referee even though the referee made the wrong decision against Norwich. If that's Kane or Rooney, they get a stern talking to and that's it. I mean even VAR didn't even work for us in that game with Willian's penalty appeal, even the Norwich player said after the game that it was a penalty. Diego Costa got ban after ban after ban for the way he acted but Dele Alli who has on multiple occasions has purposely tried to injure someone gets away with it. Now, I'm not saying that we don't get decisions in our favour. I think we were lucky last week that Kante didn't give a penalty away against West Ham and we were fortunate against Brighton as well. However, I do feel in particular that Spurs & United get away with things that perhaps us & City do not. Anyways, that's just my two cents.
April 17, 20188 yr Called it during the match thread. At no point was Alonso going to get the ball and was a 100% red. I've no quibbles with the ban, my biggest problem though like others is the total inconstancy of how retrospective action is dished out. Clearly action is summonsed according to how the media react. The only ex players we have within this circle are Frank( who is making a name for himself and won't want to ruffle feathers ) ,Ruud who could call it as it is, Chris Sutton and Andy Townshend neither of whom could really be classed as Chelsea. Until we get someone fighting our cause we will always be on the rough end of media coverage when comparisons are made with other sinister challenges are made.

April 17, 20188 yr Time to compile evidence of worse challenges on Chelsea players where the player wasn't sent off and the FA took no retrospective action. I'll start:One play I will never forget happened in 2009 at ole crapfort. Johnny Evans laid out The Great DD with a NFL style tackle. Of course nothing is called on him, Drogba received a yellow card for diving. No Justice for those in Blue I tell you. BLUE LIVES MATTER!!!
April 17, 20188 yr I found a crappy version of the issue w/ The Great DD & Fucking Jonny Evans nice quote from Butch on that play too
April 17, 20188 yr Did anything happen between the two in the build up? Watching on tv in real time maybe with blue-tinted specs, my initial thought was that he was just trying to avoid stepping on Fabregas and didn't realise that Long's leg was there as he went to put his foot down. That opposed to a sly blatant stamp!

That opposed to a sly blatant stamp! Nothing happened between Long and Alonso as far as I’m aware but Long had a naughty kick out at Dave that went unpunished and was making a nuisance of himself (rightly so) throughout the game. Not saying Alonso caught him intentionally but there was a bit of toeing the line by both teams going on.

April 17, 20188 yr Clumsy, yes. I don't think it was intentional, he was jumping over a player and trying to get around the ball.
April 17, 20188 yr Everyone is missing the silver lining here though. Emerson will finally get proper game time!!!!! Or will we just see Zappa at LB??
April 17, 20188 yr Bad challenge probably deserved something, as others have said the inconsistency is the galling bit. Hope we challenge and show them the Lamela and Vertonghen challenges which were worse. Interesting to see Emerson come in.

I agree Zeta, he was trying to get his leg round to shield ball and as put it down longs leg was there, clumsy nothing more, but we must remember since 2003 we are horrible Chelsea, hated by all, and everything bad about football comes from Stamford Bridge. The authorities despice us, we broke up the comfy utd/Arsenal domination and the authorities fantasy of the return to glory of dippers and y*ds completing a cosy foursome. When Roman arrived we spoilt it all and for that must be punished at every turn. My thoughts on it are, "f**k em all, f**k em all"

That opposed to a sly blatant stamp! I thought Alonso was jumping to avoid Fabregas on the floor and landed clumsily. Not even a foul for me, just an unfortunate coming together. Also wasn't surprised that Long, who had been kicking through the back of our players all match, made such a fuss about a minor kick to the calf. To be honest, watching it real-time, I thought that he had been hit in the face by the ball. At worst a yellow card, but not even a free-kick as far as I am concerned. I'm not a corporate conspiracy theorist, I just think that some referees have personal preferences with regard to teams they actively like or actively dislike, whilst the majority of referees are just inept and incompetent. I truly can't think of one ref that I consider both totally fair and totally competent at his job.
April 18, 20188 yr Made the PFA team of the year today. Not sure he deserved it but it's something he can add to his trophy case....

A nice surprise to see one of our lot in there. Probably deserved it more last season than he did this season, but i'll take it.

It all comes down to media coverage, Sky BT and MOTD deciding which incidents to highlight, and then on Monday morning the FA act. Sky and MOTD are particularly guilty of missing out certain incidents. We could do with JT and a few other pro chelsea pundits pushing our case. Lampard has settled in well to his punditry job, very likeable, but he needs to start sticking up for us a bit and highlighting inconsistencies against us a little more.
April 18, 20188 yr Disappointing from Sparky.......... https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/marcos-alonso-tackle-fa-charge-violent-conduct-chelsea-matches-ban-a8310726.html

Dissapointing from Wise aswell? It was a sending off, no need to get defensive.
April 18, 20188 yr Disappointing because i thought he would give him the benefit of doubt, it looked unintentional and no injury came from it. Accidental incidents happen and in these cases their is no intention. If we are giving out retrospective bans for all incidents like that, then surely were talking at least one or more per game.
April 18, 20188 yr Delighted he made the best 11. Well deserved considering his position had little cover all year. Some in here didn't like him because he wasn't a marquee signing for zillions of bucks.

I don’t see anything wrong with what he said, it was a bad challenge, my person opinion is it wasn’t an accident (only one man can reveal the truth) and Sparkys loyalty is to his current employer not his former club. I also think if it was the other way around 99% of the people here saying it wasn’t a red would be singing a different song!
