who else is feeling more skeptical about winning the league as each fixture approaches?

Utd have Stoke away which is no easy task while Arsenal and Pool have gimmes.

As todays results proved, there is no such thing as a 'gimme' in this league. The results so far this weekend could hardly have gone better for us and we have a team and manager who are proving they have the skill, the strength and the mentality to lead from the front.

Before the season started I was hoping for, and would have been pleased with, a top 4 finish and a decent cup run. The Boys in Blue are obviously aiming higher and I'm well pleased with that.

At the start of the season I would have taken top four and been over the moon, after the Dipper and FC Woolwich defeats I felt we would struggle to do that, however as it stands now, if we don't win the league, I will be rather disappointed.

Been an emotional season for sure.

I love it when were top of the league and being chased. Didnt get many seasons like that growing up, make the most of it.

If we win the games we are supposed to win, we will walk to the title. I know we got tough games to come, they all look pretty scary after the slip up we had yesterday. But, the chasing packs will have tough games too. Apart from liverool, all the other 4 teams got European and FA cup to play, those extra games will impact their league form. They have to play quite a few games among themselves, judging by the pool vs spurs game, anything could happen (preferably all ended in draws)

I remember being a tad sceptical about escaping relegation to the old 3rd division, but it turned out that God was just softening me up for potential disasters like this season.

I must admit to being a bit of a glory seeker because when i started going to watch Chelsea play we were top of the old division two and battling it out with Leeds and Sheff Wed.

I still think we'll win the league but (regardless of yesterday's result) I don't think it's inconceivable we'll drop points away to West Brom/Everton/United so the points gap may be closer than it currently is. Apologies in advance for the fair assumption (pessimism to some, apparently!)

Total plastic, Me! 1970 Fa cup final and replay. First games of football I ever saw. Chelsea won, so that's why I don't support Leeds.

Just keep thinking this, with just 13 games left, even if one of the chasing pack wins all of those 13 remaining (very doubtful considering it's only been done a couple of times in 25 years), we will still be there or thereabouts.

I think those teams closer to us will knock each other off by going for it in big matches against each other. They all need points and unless we start dropping points consistently draws won't do for them

Just take it one match at a time. 13 games, 39 matches, 32 points needed.. all seem way too much.

Need to take it one match at a time, and I am sure Conte would be saying the same to all the players.

we have all set our hearts on the title and everyone of us thinks we will win it only paranoia and resistance to complacency worries us, no team has been caught with this gap at this stage in the season I can think of, add to that our fixtures and the fact we have been so consistent and it's our title we will have to gift it to city to see otherwise.

THIS.

All teams go through spells. We have been the most consistent team and we can't afford to have a dip between now and the end of the season. Thankfully all of our rivals have dropped points and taken points off each other and hopefully that continues. Looking back, that 3-1 win over City in December was massive. If they had won that (as they did look like doing in the first half) they would now be only 2 points behind us. Our match against them at The Bridge will be crucial. It's on a Wednesday and the good thing is we play at home against Palace the Saturday before whereas they have Arsenal away. Let's also hope they are still in the CL then so they have one eye on that.

Long way to go, plenty of points to be won and dropped - as Carrick says, it's all about having the desire and remaining completely focused.

Swansea (h) - W

West Ham (a) - W

Watford (h) - W

Stoke (a) - W

Palace (h) - W

City (h) - L

Bournemouth (a) - W

United (a) - D

Southampton (a) - W

Everton (a) - D

Middlesborough (h) - W

West Brom (a) - W

Sunderland (h) - L

Points total - 29 points

How i could see the remaining games playing out, only potential banana skins are the City and Utd games. Having said that i expect the competition to drop enough points so that we have the title won by the West Brom match.

That's my guess for how it might pan out.

Next 5 games are key, we have to get at least 13 points from those 5 games and we will go into the Man City game with at least a 12 point lead at the top, then beat City at Stamford Bridge and it's all over.
