You think that Luiz was the manager's choice?

Rudiger seemed to be the first choice but he got a long term injury. Koulibaly was a long drawn saga. So while Luiz would not have been his first or 2nd or maybe even 3rd choice, he surely would have been in the list of names conte would have provided.

According to Luiz the whole deal only happened within 24-48 hours of the deadline date...so I doubt even Conte thought he was available let alone in his list...

If we are concerned about Liverpool trying to steal a transfer target from us, that means we are very, very bad.

No, not at all.

Liverpool can all but guarantee him a place, we cant / wont.

Because Luiz was privy to conte's list and the conte-emenalo talks?!!!

Anyways, lets not digress. The board has signed "old players" of quality. Marchisio fit the bill perfectly and was rumored to be one of the players we wanted. Not having played in PL before would hardly have been a detriment for a player of his quality.

I'd say the Ox is more likely to start for us than Liverpool. Salah - Firmino - Mane will start all games when fit. I'd say he has more chance of dislodging one of our wing backs than one of them.

Yes you're right...rumored with no substantive evidence that we were ever interested...and it's your opinion that he would succeed here...it's a purely academic exercise anyway as he seems to be finishing his career where he has always been...in Italy...

A career as a TOp quality CM. I guess Iniesta and Messi would be sh*t in PL as well. :face_palm:

i would rather have ox than nobody. people talking about not wanting him, but then complain we have no depth. make your minds up.

You can have complaints about both you know. I have made many posts complaining about our depth, but at the same time i don't want us to just fill out our squad with average footballers that won't improve us. You want players that can have a real impact off the bench or to come in for cover if someone get's injured. If we are just throwing £30m at average footballers then i would rather we just promote youth players.

Upgrade on Moses, decent versatility. After a few years stagnating in the Arsenal abyss, he needs this move to kick-start his career.

This has gone awfully quiet today. I know he's on International duty but I doubt any club would wait till after that was over to announce they had sign someone.

it will stay quiet now until he signs. Talks and medical will get done behind the scenes

Fee was agreed yesterday; he's desperate to get out of Arsenal. Surely if he was certain about coming here it would be done by now. I think he's waiting to see if Liverpool bid, as they will offer him more games.

I suspect Liverpool are interested, have conveyed that and are now just preparing to match our offer. If they don't I think he'll reluctantly agree to sign for us or stay one more year at Arsenal and go for a free the following season.

Seems to me if pool can't get Lemar then ox is their back up and he's waiting on that. Not sure which option is worse. If Lemar is available we should be in there.
