Surprised United weren't in for him. Jose said when he was with us that he liked the Ox.

United don't need anymore players, their squad looks pretty much complete as it is right now.

I bet you are very happy, since you convinced yourself there would be no more signings.
I am delighted, as I set my expectations low with this board, the best manager in the league shouldn't be begging for signings

Good signing who has all the right ingredients to improve as a player at Chelsea. Both Moses and Alonso came with massive doubts hanging over them but have turned into solid performers week in, week out. Welcome aboard Ox!

But you could also say that if he was good enough, he wouldn't have been shifted around so much. If he was good enough, he would have cemented a spot in the first team, but he's not been good enough to do that.

You can say the same about Moses and him going on loan. the fact is a coach has to bring out the best in you and obviously Wenger knows there is a lot of untapped potential in the Ox that Conte will bring out just like he did with Moses. Also the ox can play rwb and lwb so he is good cover for Moses and Alonso

If he ends up coming here, can we come up with a song for him similar to the Willian one, that goes: "He hates Arsenal, He hates Arsenal, He hates Arsenal and he hates Arsenal". That would wind them up something fierce.

Would be an interesting signing. The guy is English so that is a major bonus, and he can certainly play. Interestingly he also is the son of an absolute class act from the past. Mark Chamberlain was one of those players you just couldn't take your eyes off when he was in his pomp. Very very quick, great skills and best of all, totally unselfish. Chelsea would have signed him in a heartbeat back then, I'm sure.

If we sign him makes Wenger look like an impotent muppet, hope Kroenke sanctions one of Ozil or Sanchez to be sold next.

Hopefully if he signs up he shows more for Conte  than he did for them.......

Given it's a near certainty that he will sign, barring a last minute swoop from another club or a last minute balls up, I am pleasantly surprised by this signing and Wenger finally giving up one of his better squad players to a rival; hopefully Conte will kick Ox up the arse and work his nuts off and show him what's it like to join a title winning side rather than being in a holiday camp being run by a relic.

After seeing what Conte has done to Moses, I'm really optimistic about this transfer! Imagine what Ox would be like if Conte got the best out of him.

I believe Conte can make a top player out of him and bring far more out of Drinkwater, given he is supposed to be pushing for both of them, than people expect. Still have to beat Liverpool to the former and convince the foxes to sell the latter.

Is it too much to ask for him to drop the poodle haircut? For some reason this new curly fringe thing people have got going on instantly irritates me to disproportionate levels

I'm so happy I'm not the only one that feels that way.

I'm a fan of the ox, have been for a couple of seasons. But he will need games. I always feel that if you're getting squad fillers, always better to go a bit older. Be interesting to see how conte uses him. For me he's more atacking focused and don't see him as  better wing-back then Moses.

One thing for sure, he has been completely mismanaged by wenger

Great, now all I'll see when I look at him is a poodle.

I like this signing. I've always been a fan of his. I don't know how much he'll be paid by us, but definitely won't be near the 180k arsenal we're offering. This means money isn't what he's after and that's good!

Happy with the kid...get Llorente from Swansea and LWB and I'll be happier

Llorente is 32. Weren't you saying we shouldn't sign players like Marchisio and Candreva because of their age on other threads??

There is still a chance he goes to Liverpool. Fee agreed yes but he might choose to go to Pool..

Apparantely he'd prefer to go to dippers?, so we best be prepared for a let down, for those who are fans of the ox
