Just the type of player we need, young and ambitious. I don't think he will get paid more than Pedro, Willian etc, the 180k a week offer from Arsenal was nothing short of desperation.

Hearing that Chelsea are trying to push this deal through quickly to head off any Liverpool hijacking...

I'd be very surprised if we offer anything above 150k, his reasons for leaving Arsenal are footballing not financial, although this goes against some of the perceptions people still hold for our club. Unfortunately for clubs like Arsenal our pull is a lot more than just financial, but even that isn't the reason he wants to leave Arsenal he just wants to be free from Arsene and I imagine a few more will follow.

Thought this would have been announced by now if it was happening, too optimistic? Too little understanding in the process??

Had his medical at St. George's Park yesterday and apparently has been permission to leave the England camp to complete any transfer if needed...

Not sure about meltdown. He's an average player, if you'd offered him to us at the start of the window, i expect very few would have wanted him.

Have to agree but should we loose him to Liverpool at this stage many on here will swear he was the second coming.

I believe players can still undertake a medical whilst away with the national team.

Maybe we should force him to sign? Maybe Marina can call some of her Russian associates and put a gun to his head? Clearly he hasnt signed because he is still weighing his options and whether or not potentially sitting on the bench for us is the best move for him.

i would rather have ox than nobody. people talking about not wanting him, but then complain we have no depth. make your minds up. 

Curious as to if the Liverpool interest real.  Seems like an agent (or Arsenal) may have been trying to push up prices.  I'd be disappointed if he does move there (even if I have my doubts, who is our next choice if this falls through...) I don't want to be held up to ransom.  But that's what happens late in the window.  

With world cup next summer no one wants to warm the bench, so Granoska has to target second choices and in general someone who has not expectation in being called for national selection, or play for minor country which hasn't qualified for world cup final stage.

Got a reliable source that medical done, just waiting to announce the deal.

Odds on him joining Liverpool are falling. Wonder if the bookies have heard something.

If he joins pool then my prediction of not signing anyone will come through
