He hasn't been playing at Leipzig so he's having a bad loan. Maybe we should bring him back or send him to Derby or something. I really like him and think he can play a big part in the team. It's really tough Sh*t for him not being here this season when the young guys are getting a chance. He needs to hold down a position and maybe that is in midfield but for me he is more of a defensive midfielder than one who distributes and starts attacks. He has a lot going for him but the best thing is his maturity and leadership skills. He has a big personality and the best teams have a lot of that in the dressing room. Maybe Tomori will come good but its not looking to good at the moment so I feel doubly sorry for Ampadu.

Very harsh on Tomori, he has come into the team and done extremely well - he's definitely a better center-back than Ampadu at this moment in time. We were leaking goals for fun at the start of the season, but since Tomori has come into the team (half time against liverpool) we've only conceded 2 goals and generally looked a lot more comfortable at the back. Yes, he's made a few errors with the ball at his feet, but I'm not too worried about that as he's only young and his decision making will improve with experience. Tomori won our academy player of the year and also POTY for Derby last season and I can see why. Great talent.

I hope Tomori makes it but for me Ampadu didn't make those types of errors. They are both talents with heaps of potential. At some point Frank will have to decide who comes first and I trust his judgement. It was harsh to send Ampadu out on loan and Leipzig aren't even playing him so he is wasting his time there. It would be a terrible shame if he didn't make it at Chelsea. We'll see how it pans out but I think he deserves another shot at Chelsea.

Tomori for a very young and inexperienced player is performing brilliantly ,so your comments about coming good and not looking good are very strange and difficult to comprehend . Are you sure you you've been watching him not someone else !!
November 1, 20196 yr Don't really get the Ampadu hype on this thread. Just strikes me as a Ake-type players. Good in a couple of positions but not great in any.

He seems to be having the same issues as RLC in terms of not knowing his best position and its obvious its hindering his performances on the pitch. RLC learned a lot about his game when he went out on loan to Crystal Palace and I think the positional consistency that Sarri showed when playing him in the Left CM role was incredibly important because it gives you some form of platform to grow from. Now that RLC knows his position he can base his game around that role and grow from there, he can still play in other positions such as the Number 10 but fundamentally his specialism would be a Central Midfielder. Ampadu needs to reflect on his game and make a decision on whether he is a midfielder or a defender and communicate that to the Management team, he can either become an incredibly good footballer in a specialist position or a an average versatile player.

Outside of his leadership qualities i'm not really sure what Ampadu brings to the pitch though. Wouldn't say he's physical enough to dominate at CB, not technical enough to dominate at CM. At least with RLC he had that world class dribbling ability with his stocky frame that brought something to the pitch.

He is only 19 so I think he is still developing physically and with the transition in the style of football being played I don't think CB's need to be overly physical especially if you have a partner who compensates for that. At the moment it is all speculation whether he has what it takes or not but I personally think its because he is being messed around between a few positions that he is not realizing that potential thus far.

Too young to really judge, saw some good glimpses from the 18 year old last season. But it's a bit worrying how he hasn't even had a sniff at game time in the Bundesliga yet, has he been injured or something? With youth it's really hard to tell, who would've thought Mount would be starting for us 2 years ago? I remember watching Matic in 2010 at a Chelsea youth game and he was bang avarage, then we ended up buying him back for 40 million. Then I remember when Josh McEachran at 17 years old was dominating Champions League games for us and now he's playing in the Championship fighting a relgation battle at 26 years old. One thing for sure though that this youth team is entirely different, we have so many players that look like they're going to be key players one day, I wouldn't write Ampadu off just yet, he might not be the next Ake or Mancienne.

Yeah I would definitely hold fire on judging Ampadu now. Has he ever played much in midfield in his earlier days? For Exeter etc? If not he’s practically been plonked in a new position mostly by Giggs playing him there. Couple that with the fact he is in a completely new country learning a new language just to get by in training. Leipzig are giving teams a pasting as well so no surprise the coach isn’t changing things too much. He did get on last week in the cup so that’s a start.

I'd be surprised if we keep both Rudiger and Christensen - for me I'd prefer if we sold Christensen - as good as Tomori has been I still think we lack quality/balance at left centre half (Ake or Mings could be an upgrade imho) Edited November 8, 20196 yr by the special one
November 8, 20196 yr We can't tell if he's injury prone yet, he injured a different part of his body by accident, 3 weeks later he'll be back so I don't think we should think about selling him so fast.

Missed 109 days through injury with Chelsea and 226 days through injury with Roma. All this at the age of 26, think we can safely say he is injury prone. November 8, 20196 yr Wow... May as well just cut our losses and sign a replacement tbh, he's very injury prone and im not sure if he'll even get back to his best. Hell, not even sure he'll be a regular starter for us the way things are atm
November 8, 20196 yr Replace with a TOP player. There's an opportunity here to replace him for good reason. I'm not sure he gets back in the team when he's healthy anymore.

Looking at his stats though he has played a fair amount of games despite the injuries so that's not to say he is a non contributor. We have to look at context as well, I can only guess his post knee surgery knee injury was from rushing back too soon and his latest injury was an accident slipping on a metal plate as it's described. I think we should give a chance for him to show that he can stay fit after this latest injury setback, but that being said if I recall correctly we still have a buy back option with Ake (for £40m?) so that's another thing to consider.

There was actually a in-depth article about him a while back that said Ethan just had that mindset that you can chuck him in any position in any game and It’s like it’s water off a ducks back to him and he always thrives.

Would slipping on a plate injury the average person? I doubt it, Rudiger seems brittle.
