You know what no way alonso shouldn't start he was brilliant last season and a beast today, get cancelo in, Garry out.

Was impressed with Rudiger today and I said Christensen wasn't good enough before but after a shaky start he got into it and I liked what I saw id have Rudiger and Christensen over Cahill, also Dave and luiz captain and vice captain.

We defiantly need CM cover we need a rwb but with bako and hazard back and morata off how. Running start we will be back in the mix shortly.

if anything this showed the board to stop f**king around and it showed we have heart and 2 of our 3 signings can play and are determined, morata was brilliant and will only get better and Rudiger is a presence on the field I really liked him today, miles better than Garry.

The ref wasnt great but I think both reds were fair. I've not seen a replay of the disallowed goal, but morata looked offside. Arfield could've seen red with that tackle on alonso, I don't think the ref had the best angle to see how high the challenge was. I hope we don't use refereeing decisions to paper over cracks.

Losing at home to Burnley, I don't think you can be looking for excuses. If we played like we did in the 2nd half, we would've hammered Burnley even with a man down.

Well to be fair I saw questions around whether Cahill is leadership material and the boards squandering of our team.

On the positive I saw us win the second half with 9 men 2-0. So the passion and the heart is still there.

Lets move on in and out this behind us. Come on you blues!

1.Terrible first half

2. Cahill is an idiot, who let the team down.

3. Great spirit from the team in the second half.

4. Poor from Cesc, was already on the yellow, got carried away.

5. Morata - fantastic. Both in attitude and talent. The crowd needed that.

6. Pawson - what is a red card for Cahill is apparently only yellow for Burnley players. Completely lost control of the game. Scum.

7. We now have only Kante available in midfield for Spurs match. Well done Chelsea board, once again.

I'll try to take some positives, but it's hard considering how sh*t that start was.

Morata - Looks class, don't think we'll miss Costa for a moment. Really clever assist for the 2nd goal as well, much more intelligent player than Diego.
Rudiger - Although I thought he was at fault for the 3rd losing his man, in the 2nd half he grew into it much more.
Christensen - Didn't look out of place at all, he'll get a chance from the start now Cahill is suspended, and hopefully he'll grab it with both hands.

The obvious negatives:

The board - If they don't look at that first half and do something to help Conte, he will walk before the end of the season
Cahill - I actually thought the red was harsh, it was barely different from Alonso's which got a yellow. Like with Pedro against Arsenal, I think it was very harsh, but nevertheless, as captain, he really f**ked us over early in the game
Alonso - He was one of the ones who played absolutely out of his skin last season and he looks like he's dropped back down a level now. Was surprised we didn't go down to 8 when he dived in the box. Takes a good freekick though, i'll give him that.
Luiz - A few gut busting runs and big headers don't make up for screwing up the basics of marking at set pieces.
Batshayui - My god he was sh*t.

As stupid as it sounds, the great spirit and comeback might actually work against us, as the board may not see the result as that huge of a deal, considering it finished 2-3 and not 0-3, but they must must must make some signings, and not sh*tty panic signings like we've seen before. Give Juventus 70m for Sandro, pay the money teams want, don't f**k about. But we've been here time and time before and I can't see anything changing now. We'll probably get a panic Drinkwater and a couple of others.

Why the hate for batshuayi he has one poor game and we're ready to fire him after all summer everyone on here said he's made strides ?

Agree he's improved but sadly he did look poor today. So clumsy and for an absolute unit his ball retention was very bad.

Pity we lost our heads so much in the first half. We had more than enough with 10 men to get a result today. Not sure what Conte was thinking in keeping three at the back when Cahill himself got sent off , two banks of four and a loan striker would have ground the result out. As for the loan striker position, Batshuayi is simply not good enough for that role. Morata at least looked like he is capable of that role. Defensively we were poor all game , all three goals conceded should have been dealt with better. Not sure what Cesc was thinking with that challenge, poor judgement from a senior player. At least in the end we made a decent fist of it, heaven help us though next week with no players to call upon. losing the first two games of the season would make any title challenge very hard.

Great spirit and determination from the players in the second half, they did everything the could to get us going again. It was one of the very few positives to take out of today.

We are in a right mess though. The squad is weaker than i can ever remember now. We have one proven senior CM available. This squad is a mess and it all started with the board selling and loaning so many instead of bringing any in.

I have no idea what the ambitions are for us anymore but with the way board has been in this transfer window, THEY shouldn't have high expectations at all. How can they expect Conte to make this squad competitive in 4 competitions when it is this small ? The position they have put us in this season is inexcusable in my opinion. I have never seen a league winning team handled in such a way, not at this level. No other team would sell 12 first team players in two transfer windows without having replacements in first. It's a joke, and not a funny one either.

I'd agree with you but the game only changed once Morata came on. I like the guy but Bats couldn't get into the game today

Agree on christiensen and rudiger. Both looked great. I don't think cahill should walk back into the team, he let the side down today, and we have quality to come in.

Brown, RLC, Zouma, Palmer, Chalobah, Ake, and Abraham all made premier league starts! Our talent pipeline is looking good!

HA!

Yeah, shame none of it is available to us when we need it.

Hey....I'm pissed off...it is 2am and we did just lose to Burnley...but honestly...I feel a lot better than I did at half time. Yes, a loss hurts, and holy sh*t I have no idea how we will lineup against Spurs (ewww)....but at least we came out in the second half and showed some ticker.

If we can somehow beat Spurs, things get much brighter.

Honestly, I see positives coming out of this result. The fighting spirit this squad has is second to none. Very much could've tied this game and we have to consider that we have a thin squad, had a suspension and key injuries. With Pedro, Moses, Hazard and Bakayoko coming in plus some signings coming in, we will be in a good position to challenge. It really isn't all doom and gloom but yes, mistakes have been made already by the board.

Always been a fan of Cahill, but this calamity feels like one too many. A red card in the 13th min, FFS. And cesc, poor game from him, two stupid yellows!! Hats off to the rest for having a good go of it. Morata was excellent, and i feel that if he had started we would have watched a very different game.

Team Selection next match
Thibaut
Moses Rudiger Christensen Azpi Alonso
Kante Luiz
Willian  Morata Pedro

Willian and Pedro on wrong wings

All you Cahill critics - we didn't concede, or look like conceding while he was on the pitch. Yes he made a mistake but Terry made a few in his time too. I hate this 'get rid of x, get rid of y' from people who don't have a clue. Support your goddamn team.

Because preseason games tell you nothing. I remember Betrand Traore looking like Pele during preseason.

Batshuayi is not Chelsea level. He's a nice kid and I know he's trying his best but he'll never be good enough.

Gary as captain could be a problem for us. Would rather have seen us give it to Dave or Luiz, who are both better defenders IMO, or give it to Eden as a big show of support and incentive for him to stay.
