Gonzalo Higuain

I don't think Higuain is going to work out well, but I'm hoping he proves me wrong. In all honesty, I think a lot of our transfers in recent times have been really underwhelming. The only signings I got genuinely excited about were Kante and Rudiger. Alonso and the re-signing of Luiz has been a pleasant surprise overall (even with both of them being in and out of form in the last 3 seasons) But the rest have been between average and terrible.

I think Kepa will work out in the long run, but Jorginho is struggling at the moment and it's hard to say if he will get any better. Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Morata and Zappacosta were rubbish signings. Emerson can't get in the team. Barkley was an easy gamble with him being homegrown, but he's gone flat. Kovacic is a nothing player, thankfully he's only on loan. Giroud can barely run and Caballero is a mistake waiting to happen any time he plays.

I just have this horrible feeling that Higuain will join the list of dud signings we have made in recent times. His form over the past 2 years has slowly gotten worse which is a massive worry. It's not like we have signed a player in the form of his life here, he's been pretty mediocre over the past few years.

Anyway, like I said, I hope he proves me wrong and I would be happy for other forum members to come back to this post in 5 months time and call me out on how wrong I was.

The board definitely haven't made smart signings. Look at Liverpool, their whole front three were smart signings. City made smart signings with Sane and Sterling to accompany Aguero. Spurs have made smart signings with Alli and Son, even Eriksen too. I remember when Spurs fans weren't high on Eriksen in the first season or two, but look how he's progressed. The one player we missed out on which bothers me most is Aguero. We could have signed him, but opted for Torres. Aguero would likely have still been here now too and we could have built around him. Aguero, KDB, Hazard, Fabregas, those are the players we could have had playing together over the seasons. Arguably the best LB in Europe at the time, Luis, was part of our squad and he was barely played, then sold.

Was there really someone somewhere who thought Luis was the best lb in Europe?

I think after he left to us he was. He was fantastic. He had a great season with Atletico in CL and league. He was highly rated when he came to us too.

I hope to hear our speaker say his name like that everytime he scores (and I hope he will score a lot haha) :

It is brilliant isn't it. PSG's one as well, is thrilling to hear. The scorer announcer shouts out the scorer's name multiple times and it gets the crowd really roared up.

Absolutely ! A shame there's never been the same trend in UK stadiums !

Higuain wasn't a success at Milan and that is why I think he will do well here.

He will be energized by a fresh start and he follows Morata. I bet he thinks he can do better than Alvaro. He will also love the idea of playing with Eden.

Expecting him to go straight in the team for Sunday against Wednesday. Nice game for him to get his debut and hopefully a goal or 2 under his belt and if all goes well, should see him start the league game against Bournemouth too.

When there are important matches you will see him disappear from the field , in constant decline since leaving Naples !

Maurizio Sarri I think he plays his time at Chelsea, with this move

Anyway good luck Gonzalo.
