Maybe the likes of Lineker, Neville, Carragher and Redknapp will stfu now, prattling on about the lack of condemnation of the invasion from RA.

He is actually getting on with trying to actually end the conflict whilst those whoppers spout their sanctimonious crap on Twitter.

Talk is cheap.

Absolutely agree and Lineker is always mouthing off and never back his bile up along with Neville

Roman is selling his UK mansion and a flat as well. As the labour MP tells it he is "running scared" of sanctions....

Jeez like a billionaire is worried about a 150mill property when he spent that same amount on Lukaku and Werner...

Don't think we will find an owner or owners with anywhere near the love and passion for the club as Roman does. That has not stopped City and Pool being successful mind you but there is a clear disconnect between owners and Club people there.

Though it may be best for Roman and the club if a sale happens, as gutting as I would find that.

Initially thought Sir Jim Ratcliffe may be one of the bidders but he owns OGC Nice now so that rules him out.

Thought of the club being sold is pretty terrifying. Any new owner is a massive gamble but I hope he wouldn't just sell the club to anyone if he does indeed sell now. You could understand it if he's tempted at this point though as the longer this Russian invasion goes on the higher the risk of his assets being taken away from him. Don't know if its true but apperantly he's sold his London mansion so that could also indicate he's looking to get out of dodge in the UK...

Who could afford the club that would invest? Either Americans that still call the sport "soccer" cause they already own the Miami Dolphins or middle east oil/state money.

Either way a soulless investment. All those who hate Chelsea are using this as an excuse to drive away the best owner in football.

Americans or arab type as you say.  Whoever it is will need to have incredible wealth to even consider paying best part of 2-3bn for a club.

Yup, plus the debt owed to Roman too.

Jim Ratcliffe can still buy Chelsea, OGC Nice was purchased via the company INEOS, with the football side ran by his brother.

Apparently it’s enough to get past the fit and proper PL ownership tests. Some say he did this on purpose due to his continued interest in Chelsea. However, his brother did go on record as saying this in regards to the stadium “it’s a decade out of your life and we’re all getting older”..  with Ratcliffe almost 70 years old. So, doesn’t sound good but who knows.

Never heard of this Chris Bryant or whateverthef**k person until a few days ago, but the way he has been clamoring for Chelsea and Roman to feel the brunt of all financial sanctions I can only assume that he is either a supporter of a Manchester club, Liverpool or Arsenal or he knows which regiment Roman is apparently commanding and/or funding ...

Ever since Roman purchased Chelsea the media in England have not minced words about how they feel about him. Now that Russia has done what they have done, it seems to me that they are using this guise to fully go after Roman. Not caring - because they never ever did - about the good that Roman has done, the things he did during the pandemic, the charities and events to fight antisemitism, etc etc and only making assumptions and connecting dots that weren't there to try and paint him as the worst possible human as they can.

I truly hope Roman doesn't have any ties to any wrongdoing. I imagine we will ultimately find out, but the media just assuming he does, or attacking him because he is Russian isn't the correct thing to do either. If he does have ties to whatever then I'm sure he will be held accountable for his actions, it's not like I'll stop supporting Chelsea because the owner changes.

Sometimes it feels so stupid talking about football on a message board when things are happening around the world. Typically, Chelsea is one of my escapes from the world and currently that is almost impossible as the war is rightly dominating the news and everyday life cycle.

Yeah is absolutely an Anti Chelsea thing, with a touch of racism thrown in. The UK is rife with racism, like many other countries to be fair imo.

Its a bit lightweight. He's linked to Putin, of course he is. He's a Russian billionaire. He's part of the Russian elite.

He deserves sanctions, he should feel the heat of that relationship in the hope that he pressures Putin or works to get him out.

But the way people are going on it's like they think he's ordered the tanks in himself. As if we need to see abramovic locked up for his association. But no one's saying anything further than "he's close to Putin". He's not a military man, he's not even a politician. It's just strange, like there's a lust for something more.

I hope he's able to sell us, to a decent outfit and we can move on.

That labour's MP wants him hanged,he just has not said so in as many words.

He's getting hammered in every which way by the UK press, all his moves to help the situation are being written off as well. If the war doesn't stop very soon and the casualties keep going up, the pressure will keep mounting on us. Even if the gov can't legally sanction him, there's going to be damage to the brand and knowing the crowds we have, probably abuse directed at our players which will hurt us on the pitch too.

Our core fans will continue to back our players, I have no doubt on that. Far as the other teams fans they can all go f*ck themselves.

Can’t see a sale happening even if he wanted to at the amount the club is valued at. No football club has ever been sold for £billion, there is no value at those numbers. From a financial standpoint if you had that money to spend, you are better off putting in a bid for Spurs with the new stadium, NFL tie-in, and they have just gotten approval for a residential complex and cinema around their stadium.

More on the Swiss bidder, really do think if we are sold we won't be as competitive as we are now as we are talking a huge sum both in terms of sale price and debt to Roman.

How can any buyer think they would make money back especially with our huge wage bill and smaller stadium size?

Indeed. You would be much better off buying West Ham or Wolves and expanding them. The sums are just too big unless someone Uber wealthy comes in when billions are kids money to them, like Newcastles owners.

I mean look at the draw backs for investors.

Huge wage bill

Smaller stadium with currently no approval to expand it and not able to move either

Huge debt

Larger asking price (supposedly)

Much cheaper alternatives.

I mean I am left to wonder would have the saudis even picked us over Newcastle?

I doubt there is anyone who can afford the club other than American or Saudi owners.

Yeah you have to be talking about people like Musk, Bezos, arnault, Gates, page, Buffett, etc. People that 5 billion is peanuts too.

Taking the politics out of it, it would be a massive shame for Roman to sell the club in current circumstances. Footballing wise, he’s always shown great commitment and passion and always put the club’s interests first, not his own. He’s never bottled making the big decisions

It looks like it's Abramovich who's actively trying to sell the club right now.

Looks like the end of an era is upon us.

New owners is scary. A European consortium would not fill me with confidence as they would simply be interested in getting their money back as soon as possible in my opinion. And that could be the end of competitive Chelsea if so.
