I mean, MLS is third in average attendance, football is the third most played sport, some PL games have over 1m viewers. Not bad for a "breakfast sport" as thats when the games are mainly shown.

Its not about seeing. Its already a major sport in america and growing, that's why americans own arsenal liverpool united and probably soon us.

If it stopped growing, it would still be one of our biggest markets.

If we get US owners I suspect we will be playing premier league matches on the other side of the Atlantic before too long.

Move the franchise to the states? We could dominate the MLS lol.

Well i had hope one day John Terry would come back home in some coaching role or another, but never did it cross our mind he could be coming back as part owner, his consortium are offering 10% of £2.3b which is £230m , that will do for transfers in the summer.

It would be a huge PR move to get them involved, may push a bidder to winning.

Also how is Candy able to add to his bid? I thought once the deadline was past nothing could be changed?

I read earlier, could have been on the BBC, that they’re still accepting “amended” bids. No idea what the deadline on that is though

I do like the playoff system to be fair...i think we would win more leagues if we didnt have to rely on results in november and december

Hopefully there is one soon as it would keep dragging this out otherwise.

Need those sanctions lifted as soon as possible.

I've seen some journalists say that the loud groups like BWG and Ricketts are loud for PR purposes so they can get more people to join in on their consortium. There could very well be other low-key groups not even mentioned yet and are simply radio silent because they don't need the extra PR/Press.

There are a couple that are single person wealth, that could appeal to Roman more than a group. Consortiums have worked, but they have also died and left the clubs in bad shape.

As an American I can't see it overtaking basketball and American football in popularity. . .  Those two sports are just too entrenched and I myself enjoy them as well.  I'm not as much of a basketball fan as I was in the past but I can still occasionally enjoy the game.  I'm an American Football fan though too (Indianapolis Colts on the pro-side and Iowa Hawkeyes at the college level.)

But it's slowly edging out Hockey right now and I could see it over-taking baseball.

I've been watching Association Football since World Cup '98 and I can tell you that it's WAY WAY WAY bigger now than it was nearly 25 years ago when I started watching.

I am often shocked when I run into people that I wouldn't at all think would be into Association Football but they have a favorite EPL team and have a knowledge of the sport.

And you are completely right about it being a breakfast sport.  I have had to get up at 7 AM on some Saturday mornings to catch a Chelsea match and I live in Eastern Time Zone.  If you are on the West Coast under Pacific time that means potentially getting up at 4 AM.

Candy and Sir Martin making plenty of noise too. This latest British based one and Saudi Media are the ones keeping the most quite.

Candy kids have added another Korean backer:

Not sure I trust he has the knowhow to run the club successful.

Many of the best owners didn't have that knowhow but surrounded themselves with the right people. I'm not a fan of the Candy PR push but he has said he'll keep the existing structures which would be great.

Whoever wins hopefully they do too.

Just keeping the existing structures is bad. How are we suppose to grow as a club if we just held on to existing structures?

We should look for owners who wants to build on our existing structures. The stadium is one area. The men, women and academy squads and academy are another.

We missed our chance for a Shed End consortium.  I'm sure Terry would have been receptive.  Assuming 2.5B valuation, we could have gone for 0.001% ownership across the board for 25K.

We may not be funding any transfers, but could have bought the staff some coffee.  Next time.

I've been trying to watch an NFL game on TV for over 20 years, but something always pops up, like watching paint dry or having my scrotum waxed.

Feel the same for basketball. My 10 year old has got into basketball in a big way (well, getting me to buy him vests and playing NBA on the PS5). I had the "joy" of watching a game on TV over the weekend....what an awful sport! Cant really make out positions, roles, loads of stoppages and time wasting....frustrating game to watch.

Oh, and each NBA team plays a minimum of 82 games a season!

MLB has each team play 162 times, playing each opponent in their division 19 times!!!

Absolute madness.... How on earth can anyone watch that much? Although I guess 19 wins against spurs would be nice every season
