And anyway if that was the case, would Roman allow the 'people around' him to keep buying failure after failure and keep them in employment ? doesn't sound like Roman and his famous short fuse for managers.

I don't really claim that I am but to say that Roman personally was responsible for all bad transfers, that's a reach. Didn't Mourinho tell the story about how he was so sure about buying Drogba that he simply went to Roman and directly said just get this guy no matter what? Every club makes some bad transfers nobody is immune to that, we got Lukaku that even Tuchel thought would work out but prior to that there had been some good signings, e.g. Thiago Silva, Chilwell though he's long term injured, Havertz... It depends how much far back we're going but overall under Roman we have signed some of the best players the club has ever had. Edited May 5, 20224 yr by Gol15

Shev, Zappacosta, Morata, Old Higuain (loan), Falcao, Torres, Lukaku, Bakayoko, Bats, Drinkwater, Saul (loan), Emerson, Barkley, Kepa (for the price we got him), Papy Djilobodji (YES I REMEMBER HIM), Baba Rahman... I was itching to put Jorginho in this list as well, but he is more of a disappointing signing than a complete dud like Alonso. I'm sure I'm missing some more in this list. Those are the ones I can think of on the top of my head. No kidding. Some of these duds are actually still here. Edited May 5, 20224 yr by Mana

Shevchenko cause of the reported speculations and Kepa maybe cause of the transfer fee alone? Even that may have possibly had a whole bunch of people reassuring that it's all going to be great... Jorginho has been a good signing for us, not even close to that group of players.

Don't give me that "3rd place in Ballon d'Or" crap because he only got there because of the trophies won in a short space of time. Next Ballon d'Or he'll drop to the bottom of the list. When I think of our CL run for example and who were the big stars on getting that trophy for us, I can think of 6 players minimum who did better ahead of Jorginho. Edited May 5, 20224 yr by Mana

He has been the same player since day 1 so what he was bought to do, he has done it, not sure how much more you expected if you had actually watch Napoli prior to him coming? How do you consider him to be closer to Bakayoko as a signing when he's far away from being a flop, the fact that you bring up that 3rd place in the Ballon D'or, well that can't really go against him can't it? When it comes to passing the ball and interceptions he has been one of our best players for years, 2 seasons in a row he had most passes into the final third in the whole PL and you think he's close to Drinkwater? If he was a flop he wouldn't last here for so long let alone for 3 different managers wouldn't he?

Errrr, I never said he is a flop first and foremost. Yes I was itching to put him in that list, but I didn't do it in the end. So no, I do not consider him a flop in that case. Yes he has been the same player since day 1 we signed him, which is to me a disappointment. He was first brought in to bring Sarriball to life in Chelsea. Sarriball was a flop. Now whether you are going to point to other players or Sarri that's fine. But Jorginho that season didn't really change us. We had 6-0 City and horrid Bournemouth defeats. But ever since Jorginho has done pretty much average performances. There are some outstanding ones over the years, but you can just about count them with your fingers. Again, how many times Jorginho ended up MOTM or even nominated for POTM? He's supposed to be one of the main guys at Chelsea. Instead we see him making mistakes, slow on the ball, loses the ball almost everytime a player presses him etc. 12 minutes ago, Gol15 said: When it comes to passing the ball and interceptions he has been one of our best players for years, 2 seasons in a row he had most passes into the final third in the whole PL and you think he's close to Drinkwater? May 5, 20224 yr I wouldn't class Alonso as a flop either. Not even close ... He's currently the leading scorer left at the club on 26 career CFC goals ... an honour he shares with Jorginho :-)

What did you expect that he suddenly turns into a completely different player? Sarri wasn't a flop we finished 3rd and won the Europa League and Jorginho was instrumental for Sarri, without him we wouldn't even be able to play that football. I don't know how many games he ended up as MOTM but in case Bakayoko had 1 does that make him any less of a flop? Jorginho has been a consistent player for us overall and if he was a flop we would have replaced him a long time ago.

May 5, 20224 yr So what are we talking? Ratcliff coming in disrupting things with a bid and possibly relaying false information to the media about Roman wanting debt to be repaid and and wanting more money on top to try and scare other people away from buying? Sounds plausible. Either way… media are rats
