Glad it’s (on its way to being) done and there was no funny business with last minute bidders.

Hopefully this gives the team a boost in the run in.

Good to get some clarity but like a couple above have said, Whats with the lack of first team investment stuff in the statement? Its not a given as we could be now owned by a for profit group!?

Guess we wont know where we are until august, No top players coming in during the summer will be a huge red flag

The difficult thing is that we may have lost some time with upcoming transfers. The deals are usually discussed for months before bids are actually submitted. Be interesting to see how the club react in the summer.

first team investment is a given though, that is arguably going to be where most investment will actually be made.

Anti Glazer clause also stops Wyss and Clearlake sucking money out.

It does seem that the RA era has sadly come to an end and whilst I am sad that this chapter of Chelsea is fast approaching it’s end let’s be honest in normal times he would have seen close to 100% return on his investment because that’s what his cash injection has been.

It’s worth for just one second looking at the colossal sums that have been paid out in respect of “ exceptional “ payments over the last 19 years and added to that you could factor in folly signings that be they at the owner’s behest or indeed object signings some like Torres really were never well thought  out and whilst they have been funded from RAs pocket no other club would has misspent the sort of money that Chelsea  have.

Of course the new owners will look at things differently and that no doubt will see far less established starts coming in but there is no doubt that the new owners will be looking to get 1) better value for money in transfers in coming  2) take far more pragmatic decisions with academy products 3) Introduce far more commercial and sponsorship partnerships 4) re develop SB ( a given ) and key in the short term 5) extracting value from players that don’t have a long term future. All 5 will work together to increase the asset value .

Of course the club cant negotiate with players but the new owners will no doubt have had talks where they almost certainly will either hinted at their plans through agents and even  started to sound out the summer targets.

I am still convinced that there are/ were plans to sell the likes of Jorginho , Berkley and Kante add to that it’s highly likely that.  Dave,  Kepa, Werner and Lukaku will be gone as of course will Saul, Christensen and Rudiger although I just wonder about Rudiger

So how many of those 8-9 departures will be filled from the academy ?

I think a  second string keeper is probable. Colwill and Ampadu possibly and Sterling seems a decent call  it’s likely that Broja and Gallagher are shoe ins..

That probably means one maybe two defenders , one possibly two midfielders and a forward.

In effect a lot of the solutions are already in place and it’s inevitable that the new owners will want to make a statement signings two .

Interesting times ahead.

Without success from the first team the rest falls like a pack of cards. In effect the first team is the “ Club” and that will see continued investment and my guess would be that the new owners will want growth in income stream such as commercial to fund that commitment but and here’s the but I suspect that going forward you will see more Bosman transfers not just at Chelsea but at most top clubs.

Gutted to see Roman having to sell, he's been an incredible owner and its been a fantastic journey, if it hadn't all happened in real life then no one could have written a movie like the last 15 odd years we've had ha ha.

Onwards and upwards though, new owners bring opportunity and optimism, but also the worry of what they are in it for. Though this if true makes me feel much less worried for our future..

"In another move designed to reassure fans and distinguish them from the Glazers - the US family that owns Manchester United - I am told the new owners will not pay themselves dividends or management fees during that period.

According to a source, there will also be a limit on the level of debt that the club can take on."

So goodbye Mr Abramovich and thanks for all the fish....

Honestly if all we hear is excuses this summer and we dont bring in some serious players no matter what it will be a disaster, Best way to inflate the clubs value is to get it winning everything and the only way to do that is to bring quality players in, no ifs not buts!

The only thing that matters for me is the first team budget, If that stays the same/improves only then will I give it my sigh of relief stamp of approval!

Thank you Roman for everything you have done for this club!

I know nothing about the new guys or the way MLB franchises conduct their business. Clearly the consortium as a whole dwarf Roman Abramovich in terms of net worth, but something tells me the days of Chelsea being among the transfer market kings will soon end, although there is more money now, than before. It's hard nowadays to find a more passionate owner than Roman who treated the whole Chelsea family as his own.

What I hope, though is we take the Liverpool route and make smart investments to fit Tuchel's philosophy first. Some big signings, but truly worth it, mixed with 30-35M ones a la Salah, Mane, Diaz etc., probably some free ones as well if quality players are available on a free. It does not always have to be about 200M net spend every other summer. Klopp has shown everybody that as long as you have the eye to identify players to fit your style, eveything is possible.

And make sure they offer Tuchel a long term contract first, he earned it.

I’ve already written off next season in my head. It’s not likely we will be able to sign all the players we need this summer in time, and academy players will take a while to bed in.

In a couple of years time we might be ready to challenge for major honours again but for now let’s just get used to our new owners and the fact that we are facing a massive squad upheaval.

The biggest shame is that the match-going fans won't have the chance to say thanks to Roman at the ground. He's given us 19 years of memories that can never be taken away.

Fitting that in his final year he added the Super Cup and World Championship to his collection...he can truly say 'he won it all!' Thanks, Roman

Thanks Mr Abramovich! Gutted to see him go the way he’s been forced to, but he can go holding his head up as he’s won it all with Chelsea.
Welcome to the new owners and I hope that what people say of Boehly and how he runs the Dodgers can be seen at Chelsea. He’s got the gem of London, we’re not at a bad level at the moment, so he just needs to invest wisely so we can challenge the PL. I’m optimistic for the future.

I feel like another Lampard season is coming which I don't mind, it was exciting watching the academy players come through and we will probably be good enough for cup runs.

To be honest not being competitive in the league is a theme I've gotten used to anyway, throughout the years we keep spending but only really challenge once every 3-4 years on average.
