Have read Bruce is staying on as chairman of the board, along with Todd and the 2 Chelsea fans that were on the bid team.

Clearlake could have two board spots. Behdad Eghbali is confirmed. The other is still being discussed. Buck will stay on, at least for a transitional period. If (& it is an if) a change is made, multiple sources say Boehly is the most likely chair.

What is the role of the board of directors at Chelsea?

This is very different from American sports models which basically have the majority owner who hires a general manager and a coach.  The General Manager can generally make any off the field decisions (signings, trades etc) for the team (although he usually can't get rid of coaches without the owner's approval).

I always thought of Marina as sort of similar to the general manager for Chelsea, but I don't understand what role the board plays.

Previously they were yes men for Roman.

Idea behind it is they all have a vote on decide club policies and things like that. Now though the bigger clubs have owners who make those calls and have board that do the donkey work for them

It just seems odd.  Board of Directors makes sense in organization where one person doesn't exercise majority ownership.

When one person does have majority ownership they are nothing but yes men and are kind of pointless.

The only other reason I could think of is if the owner didn't want to be actively involved with the running of the club.  I don't get that impression of Boehly though.

Not odd just greasy always is and is so at most the big dogs

Its exactly what most of the seriously rich do, Insert a team of their guys

Like a general when he needs a job done chooses a unit to carry out that task...

Thing about marina ive been wondering is that she was known to be a bit dodgy tbh, Like sibneft mafia dodgy so its probably a bit of a game of musical chairs for that lot and you never know they may have agreed to keep romans people but if Todd is really going to be involved that will change otherwise itll be a bit weird and our club will be being run like the civil service, A load of people divided trying not to sink the ship!

Not really, as the commenter above alluded to, they plan and execute all major club decisions. The owner is simply the one who ratifies it. It's quite rare to have a very hands-on owner these days - although Daniel Levy is pretty much one of those.

#Chelsea are said to be seeking a replacement for Three UK as their main shirt sponsor.

Pay back?

Thought 3 had done that themselves?

We've got a new sleeve partner already. Surprised this has happened before the new owners have properly taken over. Didn't think the government would have allowed it.

Here's hoping for more lucrative sponsorships with (fingers crossed) a mega company as the main shirt sponsor which will give us loads of wonga to strengthen the squad which is going to be much needed with so many of our players leaving or not up to it.
