An all-stars game though is not for me but in America they are very very popular. Problem for me is they are not played 100% intensity to avoid injuries so it is not interesting to me. Players to play with each other is not a problem of any kind. Most of them mix-and-match in national teams anyway. An all-star might be needed in American sports, because American sports do not have any international outlet? Like a World Cup or a World series. . . .oh, wait.

The idea being that the club would be able to buy youth players (similar to what we saw this past window) for the other club, also guarantee loan playing time. E.g We loaned Charlie Colkett to Vitesse which was ultimately a waste of time and affected his development. Charly Musonda - 2 years (with injuries of course), but only 4 appearances.
September 14, 20223 yr Been thinking about this. I watch American sports and all star games are boring due to lack of intensity regarding injuries. It would be the same in the Prem. Skill games are a different story and would be enjoyable to watch pro footballers showcase their ability in a specific challenge. You could separate it onto 5 groups of 4 based on finishing position and the teams select their own players to participate in those challenges. There is no unfair advantage to anyone and no real risk of injury. The incentive to make if competitive? Award 3pts to 1st, 2pts to 2nd, 1pt to 3rd and zero for 4th per group. This will happen before the start of the season and the points will be added onto the Premier league table. I think its a great idea. Feel free to ask questions if there are holes in this idea. If he was anybody but the Chelsea owner, the fans reaction would be exactly the same as Klopp's. No serious fan can say they want to see Chelsea players line up alongside Tottenham and Arsenal players, same goes with Liverpool, United and City fans seeing their players line up alongside each other. The players wouldn't be interested, the fans wouldn't be interested. Todd Boehly has a lot to learn about Football in England. Being ambitious is one thing, but he comes across a bit delusional in that interview. It would create more division in the country, as if we need any more. We used to have this North v South thing years ago, it was called England v Scotland.
September 14, 20223 yr Todd Boehly sacks Tuchel and then says the league should be more Americanised. To put this into Shed End perspective, imagine a new mod booting @Valerie and then proposing we shift to Discord. What buffoonery. Edited September 14, 20223 yr by TomCFC85

I imagine people will be more receptive to the idea if it was called something like the PL fantasy game (since the concept is the same as PL fantasy league) versus the PL all star game (where people would think it's an American thing) We could get Robbie Williams to be the manager of one team and 'Arry Redknapp the manager of the other, err no wait a minute! 😂😂

September 14, 20223 yr Looks like he wants to bring in both Freund (sporting director) and Campos (advisory role) into the club. Cannot fault he ambition Boehly has.

Yep bring back the Home Internationals, they were always well attended, especially the bi- annual invasion of London by the Jocks. Whilst we’re at it ditch the pre season friendlies and bring back the Anglo Scottish Cup.
September 14, 20223 yr A North vs South game or whatever the hell he proposed is a ludicrous idea and frankly could have only been suggested by someone who knows nothing about English football / culture. The idea of Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs fans coming together one side of the stadium while at the other end have Man United, Liverpool and Leeds fans. England games are a different matter and very few of England's fans are the big 6 lets call them that spend their money following their club teams round Europe. England games especially away ones are full of Swindon, Stockport fans who get to travel in Europe in large numbers and see the best players instead of cloggers every week.

September 14, 20223 yr Few of his idea have some potential. I for one like the idea of relegation play-offs. Think that could maximize a lot of revenue. An All Star match could work if it were held at the end of the season vs the beginning.
September 14, 20223 yr The amount of people in the media and football fans in general losing their heads at the suggestion of an all star game is hilarious, you can't tell me that an all star game the week before the season wouldn't be 100% more interesting than a community shield game. It's a friendly to generate revenue, it's hardly like Boehly suggested the second coming of the super league. Are football fans and its media so narrow minded that the mere suggestion of something different (that doesn't impact the sport in the slightest) causes them to freak out? I could personally take it or leave it but some are making out that an all star match would be selling out the English game. Let's be honest, the integrity of the sport went out of the window when the so-called heads of football sold the World Cup to Qatar and made us postpone the season to play it. September 14, 20223 yr That SALT vid helped alot. I can't forgive the way he dismissed TT, he didn't deserve that and it still makes me sad thinking about it. He was an amazing figure at the front of all the sh*t the club went through over the last few months, and they weren't easy and I doubt many could of done the job TT did. So no, I can't forgive the way TB did it...but I understand now why. The SALT vid helped and even though it raised alot of questions I must admit I'm also excited at what the future holds. From the APP, thank god someone has finally seen that at most it's a runner up at an under 12s school STEM competition, (absolutely embarrassing) to his/their vision of multiclub global brand with a defined route for our youngsters (young superstars) to get onto the Chelsea pitch. So many times I had to pause just to think (dream) of what that could mean to us as a club, a brand, a name... I also disagree with some of the previous posts on here...go back to when they were talking about the fans. I honestly believe he knows he has limits to certain things like the super league, yes he will push it (no hard no's) but he understands we would lynch him, the fans, the FA, etc...if he tries to "Americanise" footy too much. Even as the host asked to compare...that section where no other sport in America comes close but college football (and even then it was no where near the mark) to how much football is a "religion" globally compared to the USA and its sports. Anyway...TLDR: - Can't forgive TB for the way he treated TT, will miss the mad German Titty Tickle. - Will support our new owner and I really do hope he implements the ideas/vision he stated. - look forward to Chels being a proper global brand, with at least a decent app to show for it. And... - oh fk...back to now though, is Potter really up for the job!? I haven't even got to the football part of all this yet....madness! Edited September 14, 20223 yr by Simplymo
