November 27, 20232 yr Let the lad be.. we need a captain who has passion.. the calmer mature version is needed for title winning., this squad struggles to win a single match.. I like his needle and that he has passion and arrogance.
November 27, 20232 yr Needs to be dropped for Gusto. I feel like he's going backwards currently in regards to form & consistency. Not a captain in my eyes currently, hopefully he proves me wrong.
November 27, 20232 yr He gets way too little of criticism. I really question his captaincy. Is he the right kind of person for it? He has such a short fuse. Getting a red when frustrated is something captains should never do. He basically let the team down.

November 27, 20232 yr What a lot of silly comments. James needs to play himself back into form. He needs game time to do that and prove to himself he can get 100 percent fit. No, James is first name down on the team sheet and should not be dropped. Enzo Captain? No thanks, not shown anything to suggest he's captain material and without injury is playing like a laboured horse before going to the knackers yard. Hope he changes this as he is bright during games. But he aint world class like James... James is a champions league winner. You need players like him in the team and squad. Here endedth the conversation.
November 27, 20232 yr James is a winner but his mentality is clearly a problem for him. He loses his head under no or little pressure. I understand captain needs to show something to wake the team up but to take a stupid red. He's done something similar many times. Not necessarily red but he's bullied opponents on the pitch after someone provoked him even a little bit. I love a personality in a player but James is doing it the wrong way at this very moment.

Bruno Fernandes playing at Chelsea up north was absolutely smashed in the press just a month ago for his captaincy... shearer was almost stripped of the England captaincy after a challenge against Lennon, I'd rather the club captain was frustrated and angry at a shambolic performance. JT got red cards too. Wasn't great and it is something he does need to work on, but He's probably the only leader we have in this team right now. If more hard shown his tenacity perhaps we wouldn't have lost. Right player for the job, represents Chelsea, just needs to tweak his mentality a little, tbh, prefer he concentrates on staying fit because that is his first concern, leading us second.

Failing that the club should fine him 2 weeks of wages and use it to pay those fans expenses and ticket cost back. Why? Fans aren't guaranteed to watch a win every week. Could pick a player from every game the last year and a half to say this about.
November 27, 20232 yr Can't believe the shouts to drop James for Gusto. In all seriousness, Gusto isn't 1/5th the player that James is. The second yellow was daft but my god is it harsh. Replays show the contact was minimal to none but Gordon used it to his advantage. Football is basically a none-contact sport these days. See City's disallowed goal against 'Pool, laughable.
November 27, 20232 yr I get the sentiment of not wanting to drop James, and albeit the calls for it were probably reactionary, but Malo Gusto so far has been a 7/10 player this season. He's not some mug.

The Cahill one i don't remember. 15 minutes into his first game as club captain (the 3-2 loss under Conte, Morata's debut, for me that was worse). Edited November 27, 20232 yr by Argo

Perhaps we could rotate James and Gusto when they get red cards every three games and rest James! 🙂
November 27, 20232 yr He started in 5/16 matches this season, make it now 5/17 and I don't even think Gusto is ready to step in. Chilwell and James, what a full-back duo we had when both were at their best but sadly that lasted way too little and I'm starting to wonder if we'll ever see that again.
