Getting a red when frustrated is something captains should never do. He basically let the team down. Yeah Roy Keane never lost his cool.
November 29, 20232 yr James has fantastic first touch, probably why he was so upset when he chested the ball badly for once. However I don't rate him as captain so far. He had no business at all taking that second free kick against Newcastle just to start with. That was poor captaincy. He may improve on the job. Gusto isn't James, and worse he's just about as injured, but when fit on what I've seen he's a great full back that I'm happy to see on the team sheet.

December 6, 20232 yr Looked VERY rusty tonight. Wonder if the injuries are taking their toll as he has gone backwards last couple of seasons and is making too many errors.

His errors were just plain sloppy and laziness. It’s like he and the other players had lead on their boots
December 8, 20232 yr I have a feeling the owners may cash in on Reece James the summer to cover the loss of CL football

Is me saying I think the owners have overstretched themselves and gambled, and it is going to backfire and Reece is our academy grad with the highest price and easiest sale (City and Real both know to want him). 10 minutes ago, icecoolguy22 said: Dangerous thought 😄 Nobody want that to happen, but given how we played with FFP so far, best way to make a profit is to sell academy players, so you know.. Is inevitable we will have to sell with no CL football imo. Now they can put off selling Reece, in theory we could raise the same amount of money selling Broja, Gallagher and Maatsen as we would for selling James.

Keep saying that “one” season was an outlier and he would never hit those numbers again. Here we are in Dec and fair enough he has been injured but he is on 0 goals & 1 assist in 7 PL games. He is on course on match last seasons numbers of 1 goal & 1 assist in 16 PL games.
December 8, 20232 yr I've honestly not been impressed with him ever since his big pay rise, and with his injury record he is an expensive luxury. as much as everyone slags Cucurella off, things didn't improve when Reece came on in his place. and he does have that petulant streak that surfaces when he doesn't think things are going his way. His wages alone would cover 2 Gustos. Likewise Chillwell, he simply cannot de depended on. When they were made Captain and vice captain, my comment then was who was vice vice captain as that was the one most likely to be on pitch in any given game.
December 8, 20232 yr I think that when you consider the amount of games he misses through injuries ,maybe a less demanding league would suit him . I don't want him gone but he misses so many games it may be the answer and replace with a stronger player .
December 10, 20232 yr Another Hamstring injury! Sell the sick note! Got this stat online.... Started his professional career on August 4, 2018, and has spent a total of 472 days on the sidelines due to sixteen injuries and one case of illness. Overall, James has missed 90 games in all competitions. Edited December 10, 20232 yr by nonotnowjim
December 10, 20232 yr You just know that if we do sell him, he'll get over all his problems and be great for his new team. But it's getting harder and harder to justify keeping him.

December 10, 20232 yr Think it might be time to give up on this one, no point having a captain that never stays fit. Could say no point when he can’t play two games in a row, but the reality is he can’t play one. sad to say, but maybe time to split ways, cannot be paying these wages with nothing to show for it. That will be him out for another 6 weeks
December 10, 20232 yr I wonder if his problems are Ryan Giggs inspired? Too many fast cars and clutches. 6 hamstring injuries in three years. I'd suggest Yoga. Saved Ryan Giggs career. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reece-james/verletzungen/spieler/472423 Edited December 10, 20232 yr by olderschoolcfc
December 10, 20232 yr I suspect we will try to cash in if Real Madrid come back for him in the summer.
December 10, 20232 yr Wasn't he like top 5 created chances ITL after the City game despite playing like 3 times at that point? Reece is one of the few players around worth riding out these injury issues, the big mistake was not providing a pathway for Livramento.
December 10, 20232 yr I've noticed every time he is out when he comes back is rusty for a game or two then puts in a good performance and then is out injured. Perhaps a slight exageration yet not by much. He is gone unless the sedentary pace of Serie A can help him. I think the for Fofana won't last and also worry that Chilwell is going the way of James.
