I’ve always thought Dortmund to seem quite reasonable to deal with. They didn’t rinse us for Pulisic, we’ve sent Bats to them, there’s a certain amount of goodwill between clubs I’d hope and if Sancho makes it clear he wants to go I think we could get him for under £100m.

Yeah, i really rate him mate. 2 footed, scores goals, makes goals, pace to burn, and bag full of tricks. He has had some disciplinary problems, but he's young and he is only going to mature. I think Barcelona will sell to raise funds for Neymar. Obviously a lot of these wishlist depends on what happens this season, If CHO signs an extension and has a good season, then i think Dembele and Sancho would be overkill, and the latter would be my priority signing next summer.
August 14, 20196 yr Spend half of the "war chest" on Kane. Or Salah. I'm not really interested in another foreign striker who may not adapt to the Premier League style of play, refereeing, or defending, or who will get homesick after his first year with us.
August 14, 20196 yr If we keep making so many bad or very mediocre signings, it won't matter if we have a billion to spend. Got to wait and see how well Pulisic and CHO do, so can't say if we'll need players in their positions. Top priority is a top class number 9, fullbacks and centre half. 4 expensive players rather than 7 or 8 30-40 million pound level players. Hope they're already working on this right now! I dont think our first 11 is that far behind any other teams including Liverpool and City, or rather has the potential to be that far behind. I was just digging out the usual muppets who whine if we done sign 20 players in a window, then whine if we dont play youth players also. Our first 11 is way behind them, certainly up front at least. We don't have a single top class goalscorer. I take your point about potential but that's a lot of hope being placed on pulisic and Hudson Odoi and they are a number of years from peaking. As for our centre forward options I honestly wouldn't buy any of them if I was managing Norwich let alone a top 6 team. Ah bugger, I meant to say other than the striker position. I was thinking also of RLC, Mount, Rudiger, Christensen as potential in a team with Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, Hudson Odoi, Pulisic, Emerson, Kepa. Thats a pretty decent set of starting players from defence, midfield and attack. Just as you say, severely lacking in strike force.

August 14, 20196 yr Shame we don't need a CM, i'd love us to sign John McGinn and stop him from going to any of our other rivals.

I’ve always been a massive fan of his since he played at my local team Hibs - he’d still be worth going, different to all our other midfielders for me. His energy is unbelievable, the boy could compete with Mo Farah if he fancied it (exaggeration). He can tackle, he can press, he can pass, he can run with the ball, he can finish & shoot from distance, his tenacity is matched only by Kante in our midfield. He’s an all action midfielder and I'm sure I posted when Villa signed him last season that he will be at a big club within the next couple of years.
August 14, 20196 yr I would be looking at Eriksen on a free transfer but I'm not sure what his dream move is, is it Real Madrid? Jovic would also be interesting if the rumours are true. Personally I do think we need a cm, also a St, CB and a winger.
August 14, 20196 yr I don’t want us going back to just buying players and not giving the youngsters a chance. With that in mind I think we should only spend in positions where we have no potential options coming through. A striker is all I would want, maybe a centre back but the idea of bringing in more, no way.
August 14, 20196 yr I think if we can get one player from each of the following categories, we will be in good shape: Winger David Neres Steven Bergwijn Jadon Sancho Goncalo Guedes CB Alessio Romagnoli Jonathan Tah Milan Skriniar LB Ben Chilwell Alex Telles Alejandro Grimaldo *or promote Juan Castillo - not sure he will end up a LB though, seems to be playing more advanced Striker Luka Jovic (if he has indeed fallen out of favor with Zidane) Memphis Depay Timo Werner Maxi Gomez Mauro Icardi (not my preferred choice but he will be available, attitude stinks but he's a very good player) I'd be ok keeping Pedro on as a 4th choice next year, but Willian needs to go. If Zouma doesn't improve, he will be sold. It seems inevitable that Alonso will go to Spain. And regardless of Abraham becoming our main guy, we will need reinforcements there, as I don't see Giroud renewing and Batshuayi will probably push for a move.
August 14, 20196 yr Well, we know we need a damn striker thats for sure. Hopefully Tammy proves that he can score some goals and makes the need for a striker less. We also know we need a LB. I also think we could use another winger that can play centrally as well. I'm not too familiar with who is available and what not so I won't list names but I've seen a lot of Chilwell, Sancho, and Skriniar. I know of Sancho and Skriniar obviously but not too familiar with Chilwell. I think as long as we go after the top targets we want and are aggressive we should be okay. But if we do what we have done previously, and spend 200-300 million on squad depth then we won't make the necessary improvements we need.

Let's say, we have 300m to spend. I'd rather we spend it on three world class players then waste it on three Bakayokos, two Drinkwaters and five Zappacostas. Edited August 14, 20196 yr by abramovich

Shame we signed Kovacic as i think McGinn brings more to the table.
August 14, 20196 yr We getting way ahead of ourselves with this so called "war chest" unless we can offer CL we will not attract the best talent.....and please don't come with the argument other teams don't have CL but offer it.

Why not? Because it's true? If Arsenal can nab arguably the hottest property on the live market and two of the best strikers around while in Europa what makes you think we'd be feeding on scraps out of curiosity? August 14, 20196 yr Not sure where 500m is coming from tbh but Id say: Dybala: 70m Sancho: 100m Rugani: 40m Not sure if Dybala can play as a striker, but either that or a number 10. Rugani to partner up with Rudiger/Christensen. Pulisic and Sancho on opposite wings with Dybala down the middle? Seems unreal. Also not sure if I want to see a new RB, or give Reece a run in but personally for now id go for a world class RB if there is the option to and have Reece as backup. Azpi needs to go. Alonso can also go, with Emerson either get upgraded or get a decent backup in. Possibly a good youth LB that can come on as an Emerson replacement (if we have one)

August 14, 20196 yr I'd like to see us not spend any of the money on Zaha. Best case scenario, we get relief from the transfer ban in time for winter and Icardi's value will be so low we can get him on the cheap. That would allow us a half season to evaluate him without impacting the youth (who we need to see play for evaluation purposes). Then we would know even better what our needs are by summer. As it stands right now, I'd be willing to spend every dollar on a striker.

I suppose he wouldnt want to be backup, but Sancho is always a long shot anyway. Pulisic-Dybala-CHO would still be unreal. Dybala really seems like he wants to leave Juve as well, and Utd fumbled the deal with Arsenal already stacked up front and can't see Tottenham having a place for him... If we go in hard, there's a good chance we can get him and I hope we do. Edited August 14, 20196 yr by ENygma
August 14, 20196 yr We need a left back - Chilwell would be ideal for me, potentially a right back but would like to give Reece James a chance first, think we need to bring a central defender for sure Manolas has worked well with Rudiger before so Manolas sounds like a good option, and finally the dream would be to replace Willian with Mbappe - able to play as a striker and on the wing. Alternatively/realistically if we can't get Mbappe to replace Willian I would like to bring in Zaha. Hopefully keep Cho - but if he goes bring in Fraser from Bournemoth! In: Manolas, Chilwell, Mbappe or realistically Zaha, Fraser if we can't keep Cho, and look to loan Jovic depending on how our three do this season or the best striker out on the market at that point Out: Willian, Alonso, Tomori (Loan), Bakayoko Also a wilcard option: Said Benrahma.
