Declan Rice to Chelsea?

Robertson got relegated with Hull and went on to be the best LB in the league the following season. Lazy argument.

Roy Keane and Joey Cole both played for relegated teams, both went on to make a bit of a name for themselves.

Keane fair enough as it was big money at the time but Robertson and Cole were relatively small priced signings who didn't become undisputed starters until they earned it on merit. Also in Cole's case he had to not only first get above Duff and/or Robben but also hold off new signings which we made in his area of the pitch almost every year he was here.

Rice will be a big money signing who will go straight into the team (possibly as captain) and if he doesn't hit expectations we'll potentially still have to spend ages trying to make it work. I guess with Enzo safely here we have more room for error in that area but still it's not the risk free deal it's being portrayed as.

Have you looked who Enzo admired from the Premier League before signing for us?

Joey was always going to be a star. The point @RIP Mourinho was making is that good players can be part of a relegated team. One player doesn’t make a team unless they are on a level with Messi. You can add to the list of players being relegated Butch and Hoddle amongst a lot of others.

There is a big pool of quality CMs available this summer so spending close to 100m on Rice just doesn't seem practical.

Only cause he's the most overrated English player since Beckham.

West Ham on a -10 goal difference now, the basmatiRice conceding goals every week and being so trash is funny, he established firmly at that top 15 team level now, shows that we dodged a bullet for sure.

Dropping an average rating of 7.41 in a relegation threatened team in the Prem, players like Gundogan only have an average of 7.4 this season while cruising to the title and Enzo 7.4 too who's been outstanding for us.

You've proved time and time again on this forum your ball knowledge is in the gutter.

Rice single handedly keeping a team in the top league of world football at the age of 24 from CDM needs to be studied, truly a phenomenal achievement.

Yeah relegation argument makes little to no sense when the club want Lavia and Saints are the last place club.

Bar the complete obvious that this team needs some structure and guidance, adding some maturity in midfield could go a long way. I know we are likely priced out but Rice + Enzo would be a very strong midfield pair.

Whilst he may not be perfect, Rice would be a good acquisition. At 24 he's played 200 top flight games, gaining all kinds of experience, something we are desperately in need of at this current time. Yes there are some better options, this team though needs  a few experienced heads who are still hungry enough for success. Enzo has previously said he liked the way Rice plays and watched him from Argentina, he could just be the perfect foil for Enzo in getting him to fulfil his promise.

Issue is the price as West Ham will likely trigger that extension.

I agree the price will probably be prohibitive for us plus our lack of Champions League football( which may take longer than expected to return). Enzo does though need a strong defensive player alongside him and rice fits the bill for me.

Based on new CL format I think simply finishing in a European place will have us qualify given we have the highest coefficient after City.

It makes sense if you want to be a top 10 club. Enzo doesn't need Rice, he's world class. Rice offers nothing to a top club that wants to play possession and actually play football.

24 and still at West Ham shows it all, useless for any modern manager that actually wants to play football and not to have some outdated passive player that wants to hide from the ball and just act as an extra defender. Sorry to prove you wrong for the 99th time.

Which site are you looking at for all these ratings ?

Why does it show it all. Wasn't he signed to a long term deal at a young age. I thought I read that somewhere

Watched him closely last night against Man United and he absolutely ran the game I think he is a brilliant midfield player just imagine him and Enzo in our midfield but you can see now why West Ham value him at £100 million and why so many clubs want him.

With an option to extend I think he stays at West Ham this summer. I only see him leaving if United's new owners make him a priority.

Agreed. United will be loaded and, with their turnover, could easily spend 500mill and offset it.

Let's see if a top team signs him this summer shall we? If he really is a good player, at 24 that should happen.
