IMO He should be fine with his debut. Made the right runs and the right passes in the final third, some lost balls in his own half but that's fine. Considering that Lampard played him slightly out of position he did well.

Ive seen him 15 odd times, and that was comfortably the worse he has played. I doubt he will be happy with his performance, but like i said, its pretty much preseason, the run out is important, and im sure we will see the real Havertz a bit further down the line.

Dunk would score 99 headers out of these100 . Just letting you know.

Dunk is a chelsea fan if iam correct > maybe that FACT got into his head at that moment in time

The defence did great.......at scoring, wish the defending was as impressive, Christensen looked ok, nothing brilliant, i certainly remember a few tackles where he just gets held off pretty easily, i don't want to knock him but he has loads of catching up to do, quickly.

I said elsewhere this season we need to use our possession better and become a much bigger attacking threat, so far so good.

That Havertz debut was the worst ive seen since woodgate for madrid!

He had an absolute shocker, and RLC was terrible aswell, so we played the 1st hour with 9 men.

These early games are more like preseason, so its good to get mi utes in the legs, and in the end it was pretty comfortable. Fantadtic goal from James, just when i was wondering whether we kept the wtong right back, as Lamptey impressed massively again.

Good start, 3 points, and loads to come from this side.

I blame Lampard for playing him out wide, it's almost as bad as if you put Pogba out wide and make him do lots of long return runs.

Good result overall good defensive performance.

Werner worked his socks off. Kante looking like he's back to his old self. The defenders were good.

Havertz was an okay debut. Probably realized the PL is a much differrent beast to the Bundesliga but then again Lamps put him out wide for RLC which limited Havertz's talents.

RLC needs to go on loan or sold. His injuries have made him slow and cautious. He won't press hard and he won't sprint his arse off to get into posirion

He's still at 88% passing and he did pass the proper balls in space for crosses to come in. I think he looked fine sitting on the bench he knows he wasn't even supposed to do much more here, this strange 4-2-2-2 or whatever it was doesn't really suit him anyway. Even when he made a mistake he tracked back and made it up for it.

If you get 3 pts when you play so poorly you have to smile.

Werner had a good debut, he will score goals. Havertz is going to need time to acclimatise and Lamps biggest problem maybe hoW to get the best out of him whilst trying to bed him into the increased pace and power of the Premier League. He is going to need time and patience.

Kante showed good energy throughout as did Mount

Our defending as a team is simply awful, the Dunk chance with nobody at all challenging the crosser was quite possibly the worst we'll see all season

and then there was Kepa...

How good was Lamptey, fair play to him for backing himself and moving to get game time. He will return to a bigger club in the future

Overall, a decent start to the season. I would like to see us more assertive on the ball and maintain posession going forward. Too much talent not to do that. Havertz also played too deep for my liking. He needs to be more advanced, perhaps as a 10 in 4-2-3-1 or something, so he can link up with the attack easier and get a partnership going with Werner. I think we'll get better as people return from injury and get match fitness like Puli, Ziyech, and Silva. Liverpool is going to be a tough game and we'll need to be much better.

Thought Zouma and Christensen did really well, James was excellent, Alonso shakey as usual. Kepa was poor as usual. Happy with the centre 2 though felt we lacked the driving forwards Kova offers. RLC disappointing, still think he's better deeper, Havertz was ok, expected more but it is his first game, can see him much more effective through the middle, Mount decent as usual. Werner was so encouraging, sharpe, fast, direct, i expect great things from him, defending against both him and Pulisic will be a nightmare for any team.

Alonso got destroyed by a 19 year old that Lamptey, Brighton missed 2 clear headers from 5 yards so that was lucky and Kepa can't save a long range shot that has just a bit more power on it.

We're still just as bad defensively as long as Chilwell and T.Silva are not playing.

But yes Christensen did well this game.

You can see we are still finding our feet. The new signings will take time to gel. Havertz was ok but he needs time.

overall I thought kante had a very good game.

i have said in other threads the biggest worry is our GK.

He looked better after Barkley came on. He had to link up with RLC who was shambolic until then so one need to take that into consideration.

High expectations between us fans, i see. We were never going to be a well oiled machine with the joke of a pre-season that we've had. All that matters is that we got the three points. It will be a month until this team shows the fluidity and form we crave. Long season ahead.

Played wide loads for leverkusen and done well, just wasnt sharp and struggled with the pace of the game. Ziyech will also need time aswell sonce he hasnt played since February. Not a concern, players arent robots, he just had a poor game, especially by his standards.

This team is missing Pulisic's goal threat today and Ziyech's creativity. Just needs Havertz to adapt

You could notice a slight change when a real winger came in (CHO), suddenly we were more wide and the ball was moving from side to side faster.

Mount is great but today he was really too slow with his crosses and a few times he actually decided to dribble inside instead of passing and he lost the ball like that.

I just wish we are back at full strength, we just see a few pieces filling up where others are missing right now.

RLC was totally off it, Its good he got some minutes, but he seems a long way off unfortunately.

With other players returning to the team I doubt RLC will get another start soon. If anything Barkley made a claim to start next time, assuming we still have the same players out injured. RLC may have to wait until the EFL Cup for his next chance.
