I do fear for the match against Liverpool they can't defend but they defend better than us and will always create chances

Our defence is fine. In my opinion it was another clean sheets from our back four tonight.

Had to expect the front to be a little rusty. Same with RLC, hopefully this allowed him to knock off some rust and his body remember the physicality of the premier league. Gonna need everyone on their sh*t for Sunday!

He looked like a deer in headlights but he'll get better and hopefully be an important player for us, I just worry about our track records with a few other of our club record transfers

I played for a pub team 35 Odd years back in a Sunday pub / workingmens club team League ,the biggest such League in the country .i was never the best player hence why i played Sunday mornings standard but i can for sure say that i was never felt that i looked like a deer caught in headlights > why does this happen at the top end of football ?

Yeah, I thought our defence was pretty much spot on tonight. Kepa's mistake again is the only reason why we didn't keep a clean sheet. He should have saved the shot they scored from.

Not exactly the best game, but could have been worse. We are missing about 5 of our first 11 as well, so once everyone is back fit, I think we'll see the team improve.

We have zero chance against Liverpool with this kind of lazy attitude and poor performance.

Great win and 3 points away feom home but for me was an extremely dissapointing performance.

First match of the season, everything won't be operating at higher performance just yet. Real test Sunday and probably a good time for it. Hopefully we see good fight from the lads and Lampard sees real progress being made

Yeah, he's looked calm and collected, long may it continue.

Long may it continue indeed. Defending Christensen has been a lonely endeavour, but obviously there are bigger reasons why I’d love to see him “make it” with us.

That Havertz debut was the worst ive seen since woodgate for madrid!

He had an absolute shocker, and RLC was terrible aswell, so we played the 1st hour with 9 men.

These early games are more like preseason, so its good to get mi utes in the legs, and in the end it was pretty comfortable. Fantadtic goal from James, just when i was wondering whether we kept the wtong right back, as Lamptey impressed massively again.

Good start, 3 points, and loads to come from this side.

Nice win to start off with, need Pulisic back and increase the intensity before the Liverpool match though.

Got away with one on the Dunk chance but what a goal by James!

well after that game fingers and toes are more firmly crossed as all me digits are crossed in hope ,but for crying out loud Frank  never never never start kepa again P L E A S E .  onwards and upwards and lets WHACK the scousers or at least give them a fat lip or bloody nose at the weekend

There was such a difference when Loftus-Cheek went off. Brighton suddenly had to work a lot harder in the midfield.

We seemed to have improved on stopping direct runs, leading player to put in the challenge and a player following to either pick up the loose ball or to take the ball from the unsteady attacking player. Don't remember us doing this last season but it prevent a lot of shots on goal.

Kepa showed all his worst attributes today. Is it a confidence + coaching issue, meaning there's still potential for him to become the player we paid for? Either way, we won't win the title with him playing like this.

IMO He should be fine with his debut. Made the right runs and the right passes in the final third, some lost balls in his own half but that's fine. Considering that Lampard played him slightly out of position he did well.

This team needs  more time to mash and bond together...they need to build confidence and become more sure of themselves....Werner looked good and confident...Havertz is still a very young boy new to the league. He would need more time to adapt before we see the best of him

No Pulisic, no Kovacic, Werner and Havertz getting used to the league and new team mates. We still have Silva, Chilwell and a new keeper to come in too. It will be a different game vs Liverpool. Lampard will want to beat Klopp for his disrespectful talk.

Probably because you never had the pressure of millions of people watching? I get what your saying, the money they are payed should compensate for that maybe? However too much money can go to the head. Also you got to take into account he's going from the binders league to the premier League, it's got to be a bit of a culture shock. I would like to point out I'm not arguing with you, if your a "top player" you should be able to adjust but I don't think these kids are quite ready for the spotlight they're put immediately under. It's the only thing I can think off anyway

Decent game but was underwhelmed. I probably just expected too much from this new group of players, but 3 points so i'll take it for now.

Lamptey played very well, but Reece showed us why we kept him, he was excellent. Its tough to keep onto 2 good, young RB's at the same time because they just wont get enough gametime and neither wants to play as the backup. Hopefully we still have some sort of buyback clause though, cause in a couple years time we will definitely need another RB cause we can't survive with just RJ.

Defence was actually decent tonight, RJ and Christensen being the standouts. Alonso is painfully slow, and Zouma was decent.

Werner was great I thought, despite not getting a goal he looked lively and made great runs. Havertz on the other hand didn't look so great, but i put that down to him being on the RW instead of down the middle and adjusting to the prem.
