Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

The biggest tactical change I have noticed is Tuchel having Alonso and James move into midfield a lot more. We were doing it just before Chilwell got injured but not as much as we are now, I don't think it's helping. The fullbacks are doing way too much running, you could actually see James and Alonso becoming burned out as the game went on. James also hasn't been able to ping any crossess in of late either because he isn't available on the wing as much.

I want James running in behind defenders again waiting for a pass to be played into him so he can get a cross or shot off, not hanging back on the edge of the area in front of the defence.

I think he's just trying to offset the weakness in our midfield with Kante and Kovacic unavailable., by getting a couple more bodies in there to help out.

Hopefully Kovacic has minimal covid symptoms and impact and can come back soon.

I think I'd try and sign Tchouameni in January.

My whole point is that there is this huge body of evidence, we played a full season in a 4-3-3 and managed to do well, specially well in defense considering that Sarri inherited players that were and some still are clearly suited for Conte's style of play with the 3 at the back.

Yes there is a huge body of evidence - with an almost completely different squad (that had strengths in different areas).

As I said, Tuchel no doubt wants to play 4-3-3. Personally, I would like to see it go that way as well. Let's see what happens as he gets more opportunity to mould the squad.

I think  that our squad of today is a better defensive squad than what Sarri had, so my logic is simple. If Sarri could make it work with worse defensive players without getting destroyed, Tuchel should be able to make that formation work since he has a better keeper and a better back line.

Nope it's that simple.

Hazard has played well under any manager any system.

He had arguably his best season under Sarri, so no he wasn't just playing well. With Kepa and dodgy defense Sarri made the 4-3-3 work, you can't prove otherwise, and Hazard didn't really do any kind of defending which is what I'm talking about. If back then we could play 4-3-3 we should be able to do it now easier regardless of not having Hazard, at the very least our attackers would get more space to work with.

As a man known as the "master tinkerer", his refusal to move away from the 3 back or any evidence of a plan B; is quite mind boggling.

Switching to a back four formation may have been at option at some point but it died a quick death when Chilwell got injured. And everyone who's seen Alonso as a LB understands why.

Not to mention Tuchel has had only one midfielder that's good enough available for a long time now and that midfielder is half-fit for good measure.

He hasn't excactly had too many cards to play with so far this season.

We've been pretty shocking over the last games.

Tommy needs to sort it out because penalties aren't going to come to the rescue every time.

The one positive is that the team kept playing. I remember when Sarri was the manager, if we conceded a goal first it was really painful to watch.

We've been pretty poor chasers for the entire Roman era for whatever reason, be it matches or league standings.

Last year's top four finish was the first time for quite a while we successfully chased down a objective from such a disadvantageous position.

Got some important stuff wrong today.

Went with Havertz and Timo who let him down badly.

Thought AC would make us better defensively but made us worse.

However lady luck smiled on us. Hopefully we come back from this 2 day break better, him included.

In the context of our tough week, today was a good result. I like that we still have our fight and dont give up. It is wprrying that we dont create as much and dont comtrol games anymore. The control will come when Kova and Kante come back but Tuchel needs to get our attack firing again. We have been too reliant on the wing backs to create and Alonso doesn't cut it.

I’m sure he said not long ago that it’s up to the wingbacks on the pitch to decide on their own movement during the match.

Why buy Tchouameni when we have two good midfielders out on loan?.

Because we are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and I don't think either of the loanees (and I assume you mean Gallagher and Gilmour, rather than Drinkwater and Bakayoko :-) ) have a recall clause ?

Only because of injuries, not because of quality. Also we do have a recall option in January for Gilmour.

He's a top young talent, the type of signing that would be good regardless of the timing. Jorginho and Kante aren't getting younger and as time goes on Kante is more injury prone so this kid could be the ideal replacement. I saw Real Madrid is considering him as the replacement for Casemiro.

I know he a top young talent but why buy in a position we don't really need. Centre backs and wing backs is much bigger priority. Billy Gilmour is Jorginho long term replacement in my view. I think Gallagher with his work rate and energy, pressing can do a good job in midfield, it's hard to replace like for like with Kante. Plus d still rather buy Declan Rice than Tchouameni if i had the choice even if he is more expensive.

I agree that we will need CBs which is a higher priority, no question about it.

But as it stands we only have Jorginho that is a real DM. Kovacic loves to stroll around and Gilmour isn't as good defensively, he's great with the ball but he's still young and if you ask me he's naturally more like Kovacic than like Jorginho. Rice isn't going to be available in January so it's either calling Gilmour to come back or splashing 50m for Tchouameni but that signing which would be a good investment anyway if you ask me.

Starting to look like a team that hasn't progressed since Lampard.

The two weeks, the quality of football isn't that much improved from before was sacked.

We've been fortunate to win against both Watford and Leeds who themselves had significant injury problems.

Hopefully TT can sort out to this slump because it's not sustainable.

Yes but we battered Burnley and were by the far the better side vs United and wound up with 2 points out of 6. Not saying we were great in this one but on the balance of play we deserved atleast a point at West Ham.

What comes around goes around.

I saw against Utd yesterday for 15-20 mins. Lost the ball twice in his own half and got bullied easily. I don’t think Gilmour is ready yet. Hasn’t progressed much in the last 12-18 months from whatever I have seen.

Yesterday was a match we would have lost under Lamps .. reminded me of Everton / Arsenal /Watford under him. For some reason the team used to give and stop trying.

I watched the game too and i agree he wasn't great. But he doesn't always play like that and secondly you have to remember who is playing with and for. Playing with better players help. Let's not forget the good games he has played for us.

Gilmour isn't as good as Jorginho obviously he's 20, thats why it was a good idea to go out on loan and play so he can get better. I dont think we need Rice now so i dont want us to try and buy him. Tchouameni going to join us to be 4th choice midfielder? He's not going to start over Jorginho, Kovacic or Kante. If we buy Tchouameni what are we doing next season with Gallagher? He is at the point where he is too good to be loaned out.
