Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

Featured Replies

He's definitely giving everyone a chance or two to make it into the team, some just can't cut it and wont be back next season. I don't think he had much options with picking Saul, turned out the player is flop.

Injuries…injuries…injuries. Big job to keep us winning

Atrocious timing as well.

We play every three-four days now until January. In theory i'd say we are in big trouble but hopefully Tuchel can come up with something.

I don’t expect us to be competing for league whole season, we’ll drop off eventually but should still finish top 4 comfortably and I’m ok with that.

Last night showed that our depth isn’t all that, and our squad isn’t quite at the same level as City and Liverpool.

Our firepower is actually embarrassing. I’m still hopeful Lukaku will sort that out but jeez aside from him, who can we expect to grab goals regularly? Mount?

Its great our defenders are scoring a lot but it’s not sustainable.

The CBs no but I think James and Chilwell scoring could be (working on the assumption he's back in January until told otherwise).

The way Tuchel has tweaked the system allows them numerous chances to get in on the act with goals and assists, a few years back people thought Robertson and Trent being Liverpool's most creative outlets was not sustainable but here we are.

Got to earn his money over the next couple of weeks.

Injuries are piling up and those injuries are to some really key players, especially the wingbacks. Dave and, to a slightly lesser extent, Alonso just don't offer anywhere near as much as James and Chilwell.

The midfield looked awful last night and is perhaps testament to what a good job Jorginho has been doing for us. Could be Mount gets a few games playing slightly deeper if the others don't return because we'd be better off playing with 10 men than playing Saul again.

But I think Tuchel's biggest job is to get the forwards looking threatening and actually creating and scoring chances more regularly. I would imagine Lukaku is going to be back in the starting XI pretty soon.

His biggest long term challenge is bringing consistency to the team, by that I mean getting all the squad members up to the same high standard as the 10 or so elite performing players, that may mean a few moved on and better brought in over time as well. City have this consistency inbred now, only lose occasionally and hardly ever have a horror show like we nearly had yesterday, Bindippers have fostered it the last 4 seasons or so, (last season injuries did for them but still 3rd). In the short term he’s got to manage us through the busy festive period without Chilly and possibly James & Kante and without dropping too many points. I believe it’s a step too far to win the league this season and we’ve all got a bit carried away, but imperative we remain competitive and finish top 3.

Apart from City, I don't think other teams could cope with losing 3-4 first team players and still winning games every 3 days. If the midfield woe continues, may have to call Gilmour back. The bigger issue is still upfront, Lukaku is still from scratch after the injury, and we haven't found a way to maximize his effect, a lot of work to do in such little time for Tuchel. Having said that, wouldn't trust anyone else doing his job right now.

Agreed. When Liverpool lost their 3 CBS their attack could not bail them out.

For us it may well be midfield and how soon James, Jorgi and Kante are back. Hopefully Chilwell recovers fast as well.

Cause for us going from them to Alonso, RLC, Saul and Dave is worse than Liverpool going from VVD, Matin and Gomes to kabak and fabinho

It’s embarrassing how poor our attack is. How much money have we spent buying forwards and none of them are contributing consistently. It’s all flashes. This will likely be the reason we don’t win the league.

Their attack did eventually push them into top 3, the way our attack has been I don't think we would be able to outscore many teams in case our defense stops working...

With so many injuries to key players, it feels inevitable that we will eventually drop away from the title race. Maybe if this was the Premier League of a few years ago, it wouldn't be so bad, but we are in the era of needing 30+ wins to win it, and with as many injuries as we have, I just don't see how we can maintain a title challenge. Tuchel is clearly a top tier coach, but he can't produce miracles. Just look at Liverpool last season when they picked up so many injuries, they went from title challengers to fighting for a top 4 spot.

Like Dansubrosa said it just isn’t sustainable. Robertson & Trent do rack up loads of assists, but they are not volume shooters like Chiwell & James. In the last 3 PL games for example they have attempted 12 shots between themselves, returning 3 assists. In the same period TAA has attempted 4 shots and had the same 3 assists. The PL record for most PL goals by a defender in a season is 8 goals and has stood for 13years. I really don’t see James or Chiwell breaking it this season.

The idea of having a defender albeit a WB shooting on sight is wild, when in most instance a pass or a cross is more appropriate. James had 3 shots off targets v Man Utd, that never gets spoken about but it’s wastefulness . If he had scored one of them, he would have been called a world class LB.  Surely that is part of the reason why our front 3 don’t rack up big numbers. Given a chance you’d rather your front 3 miss chances than a defender.

Watched his (honest) post Watford reactions - he is totally right, we were dog turd, we know it, we took the three points, not on merit, we move on. No need to lose nights thinking about it, it was one of those days when nothing clicked, fortunately we got away with it.

But we must win tomorrow against the pikeys and go on a run as I can honestly see both City and Liverpool winning ALL of their fixtures before our match against them.

We have been complaining about our attack for years. We just don't recruit well in this area. Obviously Costa and Drogba are exceptions.

Spoke about using Saul at LWB today to help Alonso which may mean he no longer sees CHO as a option there.

I mean if we ask Marcos to play 3 times a week over an extend period of time he will likely drops levels and probably get injured so we need a solution.

Given how Saul has been roasted in midfield and beaten easily not sure he is going to help us there.

for me recalling Maatsen or Emerson of possible would be best.

My post was more about maybe seeing CHO is of more use being played in his natural position.

I think that is a great shout to potentially sit Mount deeper for a few games.  He has all the attributes to play there, just hasn't quite clicked when deeper before.  RLC and Mount flanked by Jorginho can carry it for a while.  Wouldn't be surprised to see 3-5-2 return for a bit also to bolster the middle, but that does concern me on lack of service to strikers.

He's about to learn what it means to be a Chelsea manager. Some very high highs, then a crash back down to earth at high speed. Performances have nose dived, I don't expect even he will manage to turn it around. It's just the Chelsea way in the winter months, out of nowhere, the players just hit a wall.

It’s annoying that we can go from stuffing Juve 4-0 to losing to the spammers after a horrible performance at Watford, all within two weeks. Hopefully Tuchel is more wised-up than Lampard and can revert this trend with three consecutive wins that are achievable on paper (Zenit, Leeds and Everton).

His hands were tied with the amount of injuries we had.

His machine lost a couple of gears and he hasn't found suitable parts to replace it.

I agree to an extent but dropping Hudson Odoi after his recent form is outrageous.

It's under both TT and Lampard now he seems to get held to different standards than all the other attackers.
