June 12, 20215 yr Watching the Euros at the moment is like watching the early stages of the UEFA League, there are some god awful matches ahead. Still, a good tournament to watch if the weather is good with a pint of a nice hoppy ale and some mates.

You can be sh*t for half of the tournament and still win. The way it is now rewards poor performances. Like last time around when Portugal won the competition without winning a single group game. By the end of the groups, they were the 4th worst performing team in the tournament.

I think they only scored 2 goals in the whole tournament, but I’m just remembering from the top of my head.
June 12, 20215 yr Had it on mute turned my head up from posting on here and assumed the player on the floor "only" broke his leg. This is not good, atall.

Eriksen is on his way to hospital in an ambulance without sirens. This from Kenneth Perez, a former Danish player settled in the Netherlands and a pundit. He in turn learned this from a Danish news site.
June 12, 20215 yr This may just be from the shock of it all, but does anybody else think this happens more often than it used to? I don't ever remember seeing this kind of thing happen to footballers when I was a kid growing up. But in the past 10 or 15 years,I have seen this happen quite a few times now. Are footballers being pushed too much these days? They never stop, it's a constant push to become as fit as possible. I'm thinking maybe they are being worked harder than their bodies can take.

International players haven’t stopped since last season restart after the lockdown really. People need to rest physically and mentally.
June 12, 20215 yr Just heard that apparently Christian is awake on his way to hospital. Pray to God this is true and this is the road to recovery!

FIFA, UEFA, all of them need to get a grip and stop thinking about the money. The players may be paid obscene wages, but they are still human, they need to rest their bodies now and again. There won't be any rest after the Euro's either. As soon as it finishes, the new season will be a few weeks away from starting.
June 12, 20215 yr There’s official pictures of him awake when leaving the pitch. Edited June 12, 20215 yr by 2211
June 12, 20215 yr The Dutch pundits are clearly thinking of the collapse of Ajax player Abdelhak Nouri a few years ago. Edited June 12, 20215 yr by Valerie

Like you said they might get stupid money but they trade that for the best years of their youth and all that time missed with family (no Christmas for UK players etc.) and now they can’t even get a few weeks in the summer.
June 12, 20215 yr Reminds me of Antonio Puerta, I hope Eriksen will survive. Now it's a great opportunity to put in question this whole tournament that was already canceled and now is being played as basically one more round of qualifiers in more than 10 cities, it makes no sense with so many tournaments and some of them are there for no reason at all like Nations league for example. I have been worried about Mount since last season, he's young but he has played so many games in the last 12 months it's insane and now he's supposed to play even during the summer as well...

Too early to connect the two. He's been stabilised, the photographer who took the picture now circulating has confirmed Eriksen was concious. Thank f**k.

I'll go as far as saying give any of our players a month off if they ask for it during the season.

World Cup is being hosted in the winter because they had to acknowledge that playing a sports tournament outdoors in 50 degree heat was a stupid idea. But this congested fixture list needs to be acknowledged. Chelsea play the Super Cup final 3 days before the start of the Premier League season. Hopefully Eriksen isn't related to exhaustion and that he makes a full recovery but it's a timely reminder that these young men have limits like the rest of us.

Doing away with internationals all together would help with that.
