June 12, 20215 yr Belgium’s goal reminds me of Ollie’s goal, the defender played the ball and thus Lukaku was not offside.

Even if he has a heart condition - and how like Strider to give us this diagnosis from miles away and without medical training - it doesn't necessarily mean forced retirement. There is a multitude of heart conditions, some are perfectly treatable. Daley Blind for instance also collapsed on the pitch a few years ago and is now kitted out with an internal defibrillator, and still playing.
June 12, 20215 yr Well, the Fins won 1-0, the Danes missed a penalty. They would have won this IMO if the Eriksen emergency hadn't happened, they were clearly unfocused. I still support Team Kanté, though, I'm not casting a pity vote for Denmark!
June 12, 20215 yr Ugh, i hope we wont see Finland in the quater finals they are awful to watch play, same as Russia !

June 12, 20215 yr Belgium never really kicked on from their "golden generation". Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Hazard, Mertens, De Bruyne are all in the latter stages of their careers and never once lit up an international tournament. Not many new faces in their squad either and you have to wonder if they're close to fizzling out if some younger players don't start coming through.

I thought Hazard was excellent in the world cup, but that is the only time he has shined on this stage. Belgium are very similar to England's so called Golden Generation, they can't get over the line. This tournament and the world cup in Qatar are probably their last realistic chance.
June 12, 20215 yr Author @Gol15 I noticed Courtois passionately singing the Belgium anthem, what language do they sing in? Is it French?
June 12, 20215 yr The one thing that has come out of the Erikson incident is the importance of CPR as soon as possible. This does save lives. Myself, I went on a free’Heartstart’ course given by BHF. Hope I never need to use the skills taught but you never know.
June 12, 20215 yr That eriksen incident is one of the hardest things ive ever seen on tv. I thought he was gone. Credit to the medical response because they have brought him back from the brink. Im not sure whether you can put it down to exhaustion, Im no doctor, and they havent said what went wrong, but unfortunately these things happen, even to young fit people. Really greatful he seems to be okay, maybe it was a blessing that it happened when there was a medical team on standby. It couldve been fatal if he was put for a run on his own.

I've done my first aid at work training and done my refresher courses ever since my early twenties. Thankfully I've not really had to use that skill for anything too serious but knowing CPR is, in my opinion, a key skill and something that the more people know how to do, the better.
June 12, 20215 yr If England had better centre backs and another midfielder to partner Rice I think we'd have had a chance in this competition but that lack of quality in midfield especially is going to let us down I think. I think France have comfortably the best squad out of everyone and its their's to lose in my mind.
