You need one runner either Rashford or sterling to stretch defense

I just don't understand having 2 natural right backs on the pitch, another one on the bench and then leaving out entirely one of the few naturally left footed players in the squad. I understand Walker starting, he's a more senior and experienced presence on the pitch that's a team of very young and inexperienced players. If Maguire and Henderson were playing I think James would be considered.
June 13, 20215 yr How are linekar and co bigging up this performance. Decent 20 minutes, followed by us losing the midfield, and playing long balls.
June 13, 20215 yr All of the players I was worried about are holding us back. When Croatia push us back, we don't have the quality in our own half to get us moving forward again, so we are just under pressure for 5 minutes. Sterling is getting praised by BBC, but I think he has been sh*t. He's getting into good positions, but the f**ker is so clumsy that he either messes up a pass or can't sort his feet out, he's one of the most frustrating players I have ever watched. Too often I think people look at Sterling's stats when they judge his overall quality. He's got good numbers, but I think he is a very mediocre footballer who has always struggled with basics.
June 13, 20215 yr Confirmation that Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest and required a defibrillator. If not for the defib he would probably have a died.

Sterling makes decent runs, but he is so wasteful. Similar to Werner tbh. Just dont see how Bellingham, Chilwell, James, and Grealish dont start, even Sancho has a better shout to start over Sterling. Also not been impressed with Rice, I think we would struggle to play out like we currently do, if he replaced Jorginho.
June 13, 20215 yr Jemaine Jenas insisting that Phillips' inability to tackle is intentional is further evidence of the man stealing our TV lisence fee.
June 13, 20215 yr Those who booed the tacking of the knee before kick off definitely not allowed to celebrate a goal created by and scored by black men.
June 13, 20215 yr Typical Sterling performance today. He scores a goal, but he's still been frustrating to watch.

June 13, 20215 yr Not watched England much since the world cup, I remember growing up, and international football was a real step up from what you see every weekend. Nowadays it seems a real drop off in quality compared to watching Chelsea. Anyway good start to the Euro's for a change. Is it coming home? I suppose Greece managed it one year, so anything is possible!
June 13, 20215 yr Author Surprised we didn't see Grealish late on. All the chaps I thought were error prone defensively did ok. I suspect Chilwell has an injury too. Kane looked sluggish I expected him to score that late chance. Sterling lots of energy yet his final ball was poor except that one chance. Mount did well and seemed to be marking Modric, shame he could not have put away that freekick. Foden showed some skill too and was unlucky hitting the post though after that yellow I might have put on Grealish.
June 13, 20215 yr This was the first opening match win for England in the Euros? Looked like a routine win, that run from Philips was really good and Kane's movement was pretty smart as well.
June 13, 20215 yr Author Difficult to asses us after that, Croatia runners up at the last world cup were a good scalp to take, though their best players are probably past their peak. I think England are good for the QFs any more is a bonus, though first a feisty encounter with Scotland on Friday that could throw a spanner into England's progress.

Fantastic bit of kit. Have been lucky to have done a fair bit of first aid training re CPR and Defib. You see a lot of defibs around the place nowadays and for anyone who has never done any training or handled one do not be afraid of it. It is easy to work and talks you through the whole process. You can’t do anything wrong and may save a life.

Thankfully I've not really had to use that skill for anything too serious but knowing CPR is, in my opinion, a key skill and something that the more people know how to do, the better. It's 25 years since I was involved with Sunday football but now it should be a prerequisite that when you send your squads details at least one of them should be a first aider. If that was Hackney Marshes yesterday hate to say it but it would have been a different outcome if someone was trained in first aid they'd have a fighting chance.

I once heard Jermaine Jenas, when Chelsea beat his beloved Spuds, whining that Spurs deserved to win because they had more corners🙄 oh and this just on twitter "Jermaine Jenas has some chat for somebody whose highest international honour was winning the 2014 Torremolinos hot dog eating competition" Edited June 13, 20215 yr by OneTommyLangley
June 13, 20215 yr I can’t understand how you leave Chilwell and play Trippier on the left. And Sterling, yes he scored by my god there are better options at the moment. Mount was for me the stand out player, he was the most quality player on the pitch. For the sake of England, I hope that Southgate was saving the best players for the relevant games of the tournament. Although I’m only interested in watching the Chelsea players (and hoping that they don’t get injured) tbh.
