They missed the boat with Conte and Zidane apparently has zero interest in managing in England. There's no one immediately available and Woodward is set to step down before the end of the year and maybe they don't want him making the next permanent appointment just before he leaves? My money is on Phil Neville to get the job as interim because much like OGS, they'll trot out the "he understands the culture of the club" line. (I'm only half joking about that one). Sounds like they'll get Pochettino. He's ready to quit PSG right now it seems to get the United job. He'll improve them but probably not quite top tier in terms of manager. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/59372826 Edited November 22, 20214 yr by Sindre

Making his first match against...what rotten luck...City and Pool get to face Ole and we don't...cheers Claudio...lol

That said I don't think Pochettino would be ready in time for Sunday, what's the odds someone as incompetent as Woodward can negotiate a deal for an employed manager so quickly? We've seen ourselves with Sarri and Frank how complicated it can be.

November 22, 20214 yr Would be happy with Mo Po going to United. He’ll build something decent but will never win the league there. He’s a bottler like Rodgers. Makes our life easier.
November 23, 20214 yr Seems like United have got a good chance of getting Poch. That’s fine with me. United have got no idea what they’re doing when it comes to managers. We’ve had plenty of practice so we’re much more organised. We had Tuchel lined up when we sacked Frank.
November 23, 20214 yr So United are looking to appoint an interim to replace their interim? And people accuse Chelsea of having no long term planning/vision.

Timing is a funny thing, I reckon Spurs wanted Poch back yet could not wait that long and got Conte instead. Reckon Utd were thinking of Conte as a fall back in case Olly crashed and missed Conte yet Poch became available. Think he will make Utd more attractive though not sure they will win the big trophies under him. Edited November 23, 20214 yr by strider6004

Yeah Poch although he is highly rated, is yet to prove he can win the big trophies and get teams over the line. Much like Rodgers. I don’t think Roman would hire either of them.

November 23, 20214 yr IMO United is in situation similar or even worse compare to us under Lamp. To put it simply, too many attackers. United problem is worse because in order to get the best out of your 36 years old attacker, you need to play a 34 years old st. That is just madness Edited November 23, 20214 yr by Bob stark
November 23, 20214 yr Pochettino baling on PSG ? Chance of a lifetime to manage Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, and finally win something as a manager ... and he wants to quit and go and manage Maguire, Shaw, McFred, Rashford etc etc at mediocre Man United LOL. What a f**king loser :-)

What a f**king loser 🙂 I think it's more a testament to how toxic the environment at PSG is. They signed probably the best player of all time over the summer, probably the best goalkeeper of his generation, Sergio Ramos, and he's still looking for the door. Anyway, as a manager who made his name creating teams full of hungry young players who work hard and press from the front, putting him in charge of a team with Messi, Mbappé and Neymar as the front three, then one with Ronaldo as their talismanic attacker makes perfect sense. I'm sure he won't have any problems on that front.

I'm sure he won't have any problems on that front. Apprently Pochettino is frustrated about how little control he has at the club. Leonardo their Sporting Director signs whoever he wants regardless if the coach wants them or not. Allegedly Poch didn't particularly want Donnarumma but they signed him regardless. Wanted a left back but was more or less told to make do with what he has. So the job is purely a first team coach, he trains and picks the team and that's it. So supposedly he wants out to return to a club where he has more input and influence.
November 23, 20214 yr I think Poch's gripe was they were buying all the flair superstars yet he had a front three that would not close down the opposition. Of course given Utd's hiring of Pogba and Ronaldo nothing is straightforward.
November 23, 20214 yr Tuchel also complained about Leonardo and the politics involved with PSG so doesn’t surprise me he wants out.
November 23, 20214 yr I'm not convinced by Carrick's effort to look grown up by wearing a suit and growing a beard.
November 23, 20214 yr There’s no way PSG are letting Poch go before the end of the season unless they can get a suitable replacement. I’m pretty sure they’ll not want to be in Utds position hunting for a top manager when none will move midway through the season or appoint the Paris equivalent of Carrick. The owner isn’t going to compromise their CL chances just cause Utd want Poch. Here’s hoping Carrick does enough to get the job full time, exuding the Chelsea game that is. The wheel keeps turning only this time it’s Carrick at the wheel.
November 23, 20214 yr I read somewhere today that Woodward is thinking of extending his end of year leaving date so that he can help get the right man appointed as manager, which doesn't exactly smack of an immediate appointment of Pochettino !

Considering how successful he has been in appointing successful managers, that is some great news.
