Dortmund had there 200mill price for Haaland, we did not meet it, he does not come here. If we don't meet Sevillas price Kounde does not come.

Just as we had to meet Inters lo g quote price of 115mill euros for Lukaku. 

That is why I am expecting it falls through. 

Maybe but even so, we could always try again or find someone better. We are adequately stacked either way unless Chalobah goes out on loan.

Not now, Madrid will need CB next year, Kounde is french and he could fit in PSG and we make deals with Barca all the time (Alves, Rakitic, Keita, Vidal...) 

I hope we wrap this one up soon. Even though I know little about him, I'd love us to finally put the transfer window behind us and focus on the season.

I get it but it's rare Madrid go out and buy a 50m CB when they might go for Haaland next season. PSG has prime Marquinhos and Kimpembe plus Pochettino typically don't go for short CBs. I thought Barca had financial issues with them not even being able to register signings a few weeks ago. 

Now I'm not saying that it can't happen but a 50-70m CB purchase is still a rare thing for clubs not named Manchester City. Personally, I see Kounde as another Koulibaly. Priced out of a move because of a ludicrous transfer fee.

Koulibaly is older and Napoli wanted like 80-10m. 70 for Kounde is a fair price, PL pays a lot of money for mediocres players, like Kepa or Laporte.

Maybe, I don't watch Kounde regularly enough to say otherwise.

Chelsea has spent 70m+ on 3 players. Lukaku (upgrade on CF), Havertz (top prospect) and Kepa. Kepa was only bought for 70m because Courtois backstabbed us so late into the window. 

Kounde will start off as a rotating CB to rest Azpi. To outright start bidding 70m for him when he's going to be an option for us at first is not smart business plus the enormous pressure it brings can be burdensome so it's not fair for the player either. 

If we buy Kounde for 50-60m he will not be any type of backup. Christensen, Rudiger, Thiago Silva will feel feeling the consequences.

We won't be signing him this window from what I have read.

Our Sevilla @trensa can likely confirm this, but Sevillas deadline for the transfer to be agreed passed yesterday as they need time to buy a replacement. 

We could solve this for them in the form of an exchange, which we tried to do with Zouma but he turned them down, or a loan with say chalobah however TT knows he is not getting a midfield signing and wants Trev kept about in case we get injuries there.

I think there's still a good possibility as long as both sides can agree to a fee. Sounds like we had agreed €50m but, now Sevilla want more a figure closer to his release clause apparently.

Well I mean sure we can pay his release clause and close the deal an hour before deadline. That seems the only way now, paying the clause.

You have to see soma going as a sign someone’s coming   Bakyoko also gone, RLC, cho might also go yet, maybe not. I don’t think the Kounde deal is dead, but I don’t know.

Monchi doesn't want to release Kounde at least if it is not close to 80M. We tried to deal with Botman and Kamara but those clubs don't want to risk their position too with a deal almost in the last market day.

Thank you for replying. That is what I had read as well and it sounds like it is too late in the window now for a deal to be made unless it is forced with the clause.

We have a huge squad of players the TT won't use or very likely won't use, if all we had was 24 I woild say sure but the players you mention and others you have not like Drinkwater, Barkley, Ampadu etc make no impact as TT does not appear to want them or have them in his actual squad.

It’s funny, people on Sevilla’s side don’t think it will happen. All the reports from the Chelsea beat say it will. We’ll see.

Hope you are right. Sounds he would be a fine addition. It just sounds like we left it too late and Sevilla won't let him go unless we Pay his clause.

Meant to write Zouma of course. These smart phones will cause some real problems one day.

Seems odd that we would let Zouma go without a replacement. Doesn’t feel like it going to happen does it?

Well, technically Chalobah is his replacement. We still have the same number of CB's as last season.

David Ornstein is reporting this morning that a deal looks very unlikely. Says we had a verbal agreement on a fee but are now demanding a further €15m which we're not going to pay. 

So unless they back down we'll walk away and be content with what we've got and they'll be left with a player who clearly was set on the move. 

Ornstein saying this deal is off now because Sevilla have bumped up price by £13m from what we had cerbally agreed in july. 

On the one hand i am happy to give Chalobah more minutes, he has definitely earned them. On the other hand, if he was a top target, it hasnt been a great pursuit, and is a bit of failure by the board, since we sold Zouma and missed out on his replacement. Maybe couldve held on to Zouma for 12 months and got a bigger price aswell. 

Lukaku has definitely upgraded the 1st 11 and attack. 

But when you consider all the talent that has left this window, and we are arguably weaker as a squad at centre back, and centre midfield. How would we rate this window?

Personally I think another midfield player with a similar skill set to Kante would make this a 9/10, at the momemt im leaning towards an 8/10.

Lets see if there is any change in stance on Kounde, or any last minute drama over the next 48 hours.

Leaves us a bit thin in defence for this season and bringing Kounde in now was very important for the upcoming season too considering Silva will almost certainly be leaving and Rudiger is likely to run down his contract. Azpi will also be 33 and without a contract considering his runs out in 2022 as well.

Every CB we have left at the club only have a year left on their contract. That's scary:
AC, Azpi, Silva, Rudi - All expires in 2022.

It would be a shame. I’m not surprised they are playing hard ball. The window closes in two days and they haven’t got time to find a replacement. There’s always a premium for paying this late in the day. To expect the same price as early July is poor from the board.

Don’t take this as me saying he is worth maguire money but TT clearly wanted an extra ball player on the right of the back 5 - be it wing back (hakimi) or rcb (Kounde). And he hasn’t got one

Are we though? Dave, Silva, Christensen, Rudiger, Chalobah and at a push we've got Reece James to play there too and if we're really worried then we keep Ampadu around for the season.
