You probably haven't been around long enough to realise there is one MAJOR unwritten rule here: we do not use the A word :sign0195: This time I'll let it go and I've even fixed it for you.

Dest is Dutch-American, but I would only sign him if he plays with Sergiño on his back. We can pretend that Brazilian and kid ourselves we got a world class player there.

To be fair he's culturally more Dutch than American.  My understanding is that he never really lived in the US, just had an American father.  Plays for the US National team likely because he wouldn't see as much playing time on the Dutch team.

Of course if you are like Nigel Powers you might not want him on your team.

Funny, my understanding is that a lot (Barca themselves included) want rather his replacement at Ajax than Dest. That's quite a common sentiment I see from Bayern followers (as Bayern is linked to Dest as well).

Dest is defensively a nightmare. So even if he makes some sense as a back-up right now he's likely no good in a back four system which I personally think should be always considered a viable alternative in the next season - depending on how we restructure our defense.

Maybe he's not the best option if he's that bad in defense then... But we do need some kind of a backup in this transfer window since Alonso can't play all games till the rest of the season.

We certainly do.
I don‘t mean it‘d be a totally bad idea to sign him (loan?) since he‘s young and TT is the teacher type.

I hope they have a more creative solution in mind but who knows. I remember one LWB in France, quite young, who‘s been rocking it when TT was still there, forgot the name though.

Emerson would have the benefit of being able to help out if Rüdiger needs a  rest. Not sure how Sarr does on the training ground - he was pretty horrific bar Spurs (who were pretty horrific thmeselves..).

Yeah Mazraoui will be a clear upgrade on Dest for Barca. He is running down his contract at Ajax, and I reckon he will be available for under €20m. If you want genuine competition for James, he is your guy.

More Dutch, really, I didn't know that

Terrible people, those Dutch. @azpi28 and I don't want to be found anywhere near them. And azpi has the Belgians nearby, too, poor guy.

You know, there's only so much use of the A word I can take

Aachen is where our friend Havertz is born

on topic, i watched a video of him where he does an interview in a car with Andy van der Meijden and he seems really awkward (has english subs, but it will bore you to death)

to be fair he doesn't seem the type to do spontaneous interviews so that's a + haha

Is it the former player or just someone with a similar name Van Der Maijden?

he did have longer hair at everton for a while, he's sort of the dutch Gascoigne, talented but a lot of drugs & drinking

"I wanted to sign for Monaco before I went to Everton but my ex-wife likes a lot of animals. I like a dog or something but not what she likes - zebras and all that sort of stuff.

"If I went there I could have made a lot of money because I wouldn't have had to pay tax there. I phoned my wife and said "'hey they only have apartments there and you can't have a zebra in the flat, you'll have to leave them at home'.

"That was not her thing and she didn't want to go there, so we went to rainy Liverpool."

What's Cuadrado been up to these days

Cuadrado is still playing for Juventus and is playing as well as anyone in the Juventus team bar Chiesa (clearly a cut above). I suspect he has lost a yard of pace and I doubt he is robust enough for the premier league particularly in defensive duties.

Even leaving signing for Everton aside, I get the impression he's not the sharpest tool in the box.

That is the impression I get reading his Wikipedia page.  Born in the Netherlands, spent his entire youth career there and first played first team ball there.

The only thing that suggests different I'd that he played his international youth career in the US.

I have no interest in us signing this player. All of those tricks and flicks remind me of the Harlem Globetrotters. Not in their original days when they were the best team in basketball albeit that they were not allowed to prove it. Rather I'm thinking of their entertainment/comedy routine shows masquerading as sport. Good fun packed with tricks and laughs but it wasn't real basketball. The only players who made the Globetrotters squad were the ones who were not good enough to be even a backup in the NBA.

Flicks and tricks won't get it done in real Football.

He looks like a nightclub bouncer who would confiscate your drugs for his own personal use.😆

@azpi28 isn't he in adverts for a dodgy gambling website?

Why don’t we say the A word @Valerie

Because A*** are Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham merged together, a bunch of self-entitled, spoilt, nasty c**ts. I felt soooooo happy when we beat them in Amsterdam  and caused them to let slip a 4-1 lead at the Bridge. Their bitterness about the referee's decision was something to behold :laugh2:
