November 27, 20223 yr I think it's a matter of the Canadian team not being experienced on this stage of international football. Once you go 1 goal up in an Interational tournament like this against a team that are arguably better than you, you need to be a bit more conservative rather than continue to attack and leave spaces at the back.
November 27, 20223 yr Martin Keown: "It's such a simple game, just pass the ball along the carpet to your teammate." Projection?
November 27, 20223 yr Hahaha Hutchinson has a tampon up his nose. I would have thought that was illegal in Qatar for some bizarre sexist reason?

Well got our first world cup goal at least, history made. I feel guilty: whenever I get away for a significant amount of time from the tv during a match, somebody scores for a country I don't support (in this particular match anyway). This doubly hurt Canada I'm so sorry @axman2526

November 27, 20223 yr Strange how many of the Chelsea players who were sauntering around the pitch a month ago suddenly have energy and look really interested.....can't think why....

Sadly, similar to a lot of players across clubs. That's what happens when FIFA decides to put a World Cup in the middle of the season. Players start protecting themselves/putting in the bare minimum so they can save their energy for the World Cup.
November 27, 20223 yr Croatia played well today and if they play like that against Belgium it will all be over for De Bryune and E.Hazard and of course Martinez.

I have; he has been average when he has managed to get on the pitch which is a rare occurrence. Needs to move to Serie A, a short team contract to Lazio under Sarri will be ideal. If that doesn’t work out then Ligue 1 should be his last destination in Europe.
November 27, 20223 yr Well beaten in the end. Credit to Croatia they showed their quality and good luck to them in the next round. Still proud we made it there, and hopefully we can get our first world cup point, or 3, in the last game. That would be a lovely end to a superb campaign.

Unfortunately not only did Japan blow it they have let Germany right back in. A draw tonight against Spain and beat Costa Rica should be enough to get der Jeermans through. Then obviously they put England out of our misery at some point in the knockout stages. On penalties of course.

You are very lucky to have Alphonso Davies who I just read was born in a refugee camp in Ghana to Liberian parents. If Jack Charlton was still Ireland manager he would have found a way to get him an Irish passport first.

Happens all the time leading upto these tournaments, it's just usually 90% of games in the month before are dead rubbers so no one cares.
