As much as it can be fun to gloat, it must be sh*t for the genuine city fans, not the coattail fans. They had a lot of achievements in the last decade and now it's all a bit dark and gloomy. This is how we felt when Roman was selling up. Yeah Arsenal, Liverpool and Utd have been quite self sustainable for a long time, but regardless it's the genuine fans who suffer because of their owners.

f**k em. I can remember them mocking us and cheering our downfall when Roman was sanctioned and forced to sell the club.

It's an insane number of charges over a huge period. I can't see the Premier League being especially keen on rewriting a decade's worth of results so you've got to think that they would make the punishments going forward.

How do you deal with 100 charges worth of punishment, most of them deliberate bad faith attempts to break the rules? Hard not to see relegation, either outright or via an insurmountable points reduction. Could the Premier League ban them for a number of years as well, forcing a lengthy stint in the Championship? A transfer ban would almost be certain too.

No CoaFS either, they can't just lawyer their way out of it (could go to the high court I suppose)

All I can say is, about time.

We knew about their false revenue activity since UEFA probed them back in 2019, and it was evident there was fraud taking place with the substantial amount of evidence available. Only thing that prevented sanctions were the bull sh*t statute of limitations. Hence why anything City win is meaningless and has a big asterisk on top of it.

@Term_X Funny how this is happening now right after we discussed City were at the point they thought they were untouchable. Reporting they had the highest revenue above United or Real Madrid. 😄

Not understanding the comparisons between us and City.

City have been cooking the books for years with fake sponsors and inflated revenue to demonstrate that they're 'complying' with FFP. If we've been doing anything remotely like this, then I'd be concerned but I don't see any evidence of it.

City got off on a technicality because UEFA didn't comply with their statute of limitations provisions when they brought the charges against them.

I think the PL has a rock solid case here, though this will probably drag on for years with City defending the charges. If the PL loses the case, its credibility will be shot and I think the Super League will have a massive resurgence then.

I would argue that the Super League likely moves a step closer no matter what now. If City are indeed found guilty and punished heavily, their owners will push to start a Super League as they will not want to lose the revenue. At that point they won't care if that means expulsion from the domestic competitions.

The PL must have some concrete evidence otherwise it’s a massive gamble and risk. No chance they do this unless they feel they have a good chance of winning.

Out of the media, only Gary Neville called out city and said there’s no way City get above Real and United financially.

The UEFA investigation back in 2019 already had a massive amount of evidence but couldn't charge because of statute of limitations. Premier League is probably like, "f**k THAT". We are talking about serious breaches from 2007-2018,.

I was thinking the exact same thing, but then I thought it's City we are talking about. To be fair, PL with City and PL w/o City is kind of the same thing. No matter how many trophies they win, they seem to be nobody's rivals. The fact that everybody wants City to win when the other big clubs are challenging, well it speaks volumes IMHO.

The FA will be in major trouble if it touches one of the big four. As soon as they touch United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal, I am sure it's game over for them. As much as we hate Arsenal, if they get punished for whatever reason and decide they leave the PL and go to the Super League, I am positive that Chelsea, United and Liverpool would join them, too and we, as fans, would accept it. Same goes for United - if they leave the PL, Liverpool would join their cause, too.

But in the end it's probably going to be a point deduction in one of the next seasons. They will start minus 10, 12 points and that's it although a transfer ban starting this summer would be better for all other clubs as City's cicle seems to have come to an end and that locker room is as toxic as it has ever been. Guardiola seems to have fallen out with all his star players.

Fair point although I would say United and Liverpool certainly consider City as big rivals, even if we don't. The league has indiciated that the independent commission may take some time to come up with the final report, so I will be surprised if any punishment is handed out this season. We shall see...

Seeing Liverpool and United fans getting giddy on the notion that they will be rewarded City's titles on the years they finished 2nd to them. Failing to acknowledge City affected everyone in the league one way or another.

Punishments would be for future seasons, not retrospective ones back, so I have read.

What’s the betting that they’ll order the club to pay costs’ which won’t affect the owners in the slightest and everything will just carry on exactly the same way it has been. Won’t punish them in the slightest.

Getting a trophy afterwards is sh*t. You live for the moment and getting a PL-trophy 5 years after the season was played, where's the fun in that? I'd prefer all those seasons to be null and void. If so, then Agueroooo would be cancelled while at the same time not giving Gerrard a title 😁

Had this been us there would be a rule at the bottom that said relegation.

100 charges over 10 years and god knows how many in the following 5 years, that may still yet to be investigated.

With the amount of charges, how long it's been going on for and what they achieved in that time, expulsion from the league has to be on the cards here. A fine would be a joke and a points deduction wouldn't be enough unless it's something that guarantees their relegation.

They have made a mockery of the league, achieved everything domestically at the expense of every other team, even contributed to relegation other others. They have damaged the reputation of the most popular league in the world for a long time, I just don't see how a points deduction and especially a fine is enough of a punishment.

Hey guys been working all day, any big football news I should know about?

I was meant to be working but the City news disrupted my day!

Swindon were demoted 2 divisions in 1990 for 36 financial irregularities, around a third of what City have been charged with. City will certainly appeal, but if even a third of those charges stand, then they must be demoted. If ALL of those charges stand..........goodbye Manchester City.
