Havetz and Werner haven't shown much in the Premier league either. Only Sterling and Mount have consistently shown they belong at this level. Our players aren't as good as you think they are. We absolutely do not have the attacking players to achieve any consistent league success or even Mount a title challenge. We will see how Sterling does in Tuchel's system. Think you will be whistling a different tune at the end of the season.

We saw what happened when Lamps was shown the door and Tuchel came in. Same group of players went from struggling for top 6 to winning Champs League. If things aren't working the owners will change the manager. Roman absolutely would and, as I stated last season, had the ownership situation not happened I believe Roman would have sacked TT for losing the two domestic cup finals. Todd and Co are unknowns, we don't know how much rope they will give TT.

Missed Jesus still getting used to him in an Arsenal shirt.. we are not talking title change but getting bossed and outpayed by this lot.. I I sorry in my book that doesn't cut it.. I blame our attacking players if we create anything even lamps managed to get a better tune out of our attacking lot.

I just feel he isn’t getting the best out of these players. We can go on about the CL win, & 2 finals, but his system & style of football works better in cup competitions. He will need to be adventurous to make it work in the league.
July 24, 20223 yr Sterling has promise, at least he can run with the ball and make things happen. Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech and Havertz are painful to watch more often than not. I just don't have faith that any of them will 'come good' for us in terms of sticking the ball in the net or assisting goals regularly. I wish we had a Drogba or Costa type player, those guys created chances with pure strength and aggression at times, and then Hazard who would create from pure skill and talent. Our current guys just don't compare in any shape or form. The best form of defence is attack, and we can't even manage a decent shot on target. That sort or thing happened often in the last quarter of the season just gone. Edited July 24, 20223 yr by AlwaysRight

I think this might be where the penny drops for most of our fans. Can’t see Sterling working in this system, without Pep’s structure, and a midfield 2 that can’t pick a pass or spot his runs. He will keep making those runs (like Werner does), but players will keep taking an extra touch or passing inwards.
July 24, 20223 yr Caught a minute clip of TT after the game where he commends Arsenal for shows more commitment than we did and being better Physically, mentally and as a team.

I just hate this attacking system under Tuchel, Ax - it is slow, plotting, methodical and congested. Whipping in crosses with wingbacks to a striker who can't play inside makes no sense. The wingbacks force the wingers inside where it is just too damn congested once they get possession. With the exception of Mount, our midfielders give us absolutely nothing in the attack, and it seems like we are constantly playing the ball backward. This system just doesn't fit the type of players we have. It will be interesting to note if Sterling's stats dip - here is betting they do. Edited July 24, 20223 yr by USATim

Think it is going to be a long year for Sterling - Tuchel's style of attack just doesn't suite his game.

I doubt they will tolerate the loss of income if we fail to make Champs League for example. You could argue that it might be better that we don't sign too many more players this summer if they are for Tuchel's system. If they change the manager mid-season these players may not fit the next system.
July 24, 20223 yr The result in a pre-season game doesn't really matter much, although it is never fun being on the end of a hammering, especially against London rivals. But the manner of defeat is more worrying. All over the place defensively, disorganized, and creating no real chances.
July 24, 20223 yr The fans at the Bridge were patient last season despite the poor performances, I don't expect their patience to last this time though. We need some drastic improvements or the booing will start early. Tuchel needs to sort out his attacking game plan and the players need to stop this cowardly football they constantly produce. If we end up with more of that inching towards the box only to pass it back to the halfway line again, then I will just make Chelsea background tv next season. No way am I watching another season of that sh*te. I would rather see us lose whilst trying to be entertaining than watch us waste 30 minutes recycling possession and wait for the inevitable snatch and grab goal by the opposition. How can you expect the team to be super commited if their captain is not. And who else does he mean? Werner? Alonso? Emerson, Jorgi? Havertz? Who are these players? Name them and shame them? If we go in to the season with this attitude we will drop like a stone. Nevermind top 4 we wont be top 10 with this lack of commitment.

We want to watch quick football full of commitment, not this sh*t. We did it for the first few months of last season, what is holding them back from doing that now? When they see an attacker run into space, why don't they play the pass? when they are in a crossing position, why are the suddenly walking and playing it back 5 yards instead of crossing it into the box or running at the full back? We have seen some horrible habits come into the club in recent years and it seems to rub off on to every player we bring in.

Ampadu, Colwill, Broja etc etc.
