Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

I wonder what statistics they are looking at in their "data-driven" model, which tells them Potter is one of the best managers in the game. Cos it sure as sh*t isn't his win rate.

its not just about win rate. There's a lot of factors that go into it. Whilst he has been underwhelming thus far, I put the majority of that blame on our terrible squad.

You should only really be judging him from after the jan window, and whilst we have dropped points, on the positive side we have only conceded 1 goal and not lost yet, which is clear progress compared to before. Throw in the fact that we have injured players returning and im sure it'll start looking good for us soon

The feeling within the Chelsea hierarchy is that Potter should be judged in years not months and they are confident they have one of the best managers in the game. [@David_Ornstein]

Looks like we’re in for the long haul with Potter.

I'm really curious to know what kind of mind trick Potter played on the board, he could get us relegated and we'll see a tweet saying 'The board hired Potter to win trophies and he is on course to do that, with Chelsea being favourites for the Championship next season'

So as usual you bring up a load of bollocks then are unable substantiate it, so choose to slink off.

I suppose its better than your usual "too long didn't read " replies.

Not sure what "bollocks" you are referring to ??? Facts aren't bollocks LOL.

Or should we be leaving out 5 of Potter's wins to date as well and see what that looks like ?

If some of my posts are too long for you. I have absolutely no problem at all if you want to ignore them.

Our terrible squad has been a top 4 team for a few seasons in a row now and we just got Enzo for over 100m so it can't be all that bad... Potter won the lottery by coming here, there is no way he would be considered as a top manager for any of our rivals even if we are to argue that he's a decent mid table manager.

Add to that his greatest sin, selling Jorginho...

Bro he got Enzo, I don't think people actually grasp what kind of a signing that is, the greatest January signing in PL history.

He could have sold Kante and Kovacic too both are more injured than match ready and it wouldn't matter when you get such a player like Enzo. What was the most expensive transfer of Potter prior to Enzo?!

I bet he doesn't even understand in what position he is right now, this Enzo signing you can compare to the likes of the best signings in football in general, like when Inter got Ronaldo from Barcelona for example. You think we managed to score against West Ham cause of Potter? Oh no, it was due to Enzo and J.Felix, they can solve you matches all you got to do is to let them play. My point is that our squad is not nearly as bad as people want to make it look like, Potter has no such excuse since our squad is better than his previous squad.

Does anyone here seriously think Tuchel would have us 10th with this squad?

Hard to tell. Mourinho was 10th with a championship winning squad halfway through the season. Once you lose the dressing room, which apparently Tuchel did, anything can happen.

I think we need to move on from Tuchel, I know its difficult for some, but his departure is causing a rupture among the fans. It's reminiscent of when Jose left. The second time he couldn't get a tune out of the players, who failed to score goals and we were on path for a relegation dogfight. Sounds kind of familiar this time around with Potter.

he's not everyones cup of tea, he's not yet won me over, but wishing for your ex who left you isn't a great feeling. My concern is that the squad are still to powerful and this is my Mount conundrum. Love him, but if he's asking to break the bank to keep him, I'd move him on and wish him well. Every player has a price and we can't keep getting mugged off by player power. Sign the contract Mason, would be hugely disappointed to see you leave.

You left out 5 wins in the time period you are trying to cherry pick from. Very easy to find them all on the internet, if you want more details.

2-1 win against Leicester who at the time were relegation fodder.

1-0 win against Everton who are relegation fodder.

Also left out a 1-0 loss to Salzburg.

Left out a loss to Charlotte pre season.

Am i missing anything else? Not exactly anything here proving your point.

It's more like breaking up with a supermodel and dating Graham Potter instead.

No way in hell, we started bad but Tuchel wouldn't keep the same performances like Potter there is no chance of that happening.

Tuchel would have had us in the same place or worse once Reece and Chilwell got injured, as his one game plan relied purely on them.

Reece and Chilwell were injured for the majority of last season as well, alongside Kante. And we still got 3rd and were a couple of penalty kicks away from a domestic cup double. Not to mention only losing to the CL winners in extra time. Given the turmoil the club was under, it wasnt a bad season at all

Suarez and VVD were both signed in January. Both eclipse Enzo at the moment, especially Suarez.

What about the other times we had the ball in the back of the net Sunday, we aren't a one man team that relies solely on Enzo. No one is saying we have a bad squad either, everyone is fully aware we have one of the best in the league now. Its also proven time and time again in history that this many signings take time to gel and gain chemistry together, it isn't something that happens over night.

You mean when our season fell off last season after Juventus game? Exactly. we got 3rd due to our form early on in the season and very little competition.

Since then Arsenal have improved, Newcastle have improved, Fulham and Brentford have improved. We've had a record number of new players that take time to settle into a new club and league.

For reference we were top of the league after 14 games last season, we finished the season 19 points off the winners.

I remember when we sacked Lampard and some of us were annoyed at it that some posters were telling us that we should forget about him and stop complaining. And that was like 1 month after the sacking. Some in here are still hanging on to Tuchel (whom I loved, by the way) after 5 months of his sacking.

Enzo is the best signing, if he gets a decent manager he'll win the PL more times than both of those Liverpool players you suggested.

So it's once again you ignoring whatever you want and making your own reality.

I see this appointment similar to the summer when Boehly wanted Ronaldo, Tuchel rightly told him no. No one was around to tell Boehly no about Potter. I think Boehly has all the right intentions, but he needs someone to tell him no more often because not all his ideas are great.

I suspect the decision to replace Thomas with Graham may in the future possibly go down as one of the poorest management decisions in football history. I'm not exaggerating someone mentioned it was like breaking up with a super model.

Taking the aforementioned reference further, its like going from a hot 9/10 women to an average 5/10, and I'm being generous I think when I call Potter a five. Just to clarify I'm not talking about their own physical appearance merely comparing their managerial ability to attractive women 😂

Tuchel came with a great record and won as many games in his first month as Potter has in his first 5

Lots of supporters were upset with a legend like Lamps going but Tuchel quickly endeared himself to most if not all Chelsea supporters. Both with the football we saw on the pitch and the things he said he really felt like he got the club.

The fact that Potter hasn't done the same in half a year reflects more on him than the supporters.

Frank Lampard was a club legend, but it was clear that he wasn't tactically up to it, sacking him was the correct decision. He didn't achieve (as a manager) what Tuchel did for the club. 5 cup finals in 18 months with the legendary forwards Werner and Havertz up front, that's an insane achievement. Sacking Tuchel has beem one of the dumbest decisions in this clubs history.

Some people were calling for Tuchel to be sacked if we lost the Champions League final, I think thats a bit different to wanting Potter gone, who has the worst win percentage of any Chelsea manager since 1996.
