Most backed him yes, just as most are backing Potter now if polls on here are to go by, however, the Pottersexuals on here never gave Tuchel a chance and wanted him sacked as soon as we hit a bit of bad form. If Potter won the Champions League I would take back everything I said about him, and I've said nothing good about Potter.

Jesus Christ. If that's how you think of some Chelsea fans I can only imagine what you think of oppo fans

If we lose to Dortmund it doesn't really matter, it's a close tie IMO and anything can happen. It's more important for Potter to win these league matches against Everton, Leeds and Southampton, not sure what the order is but if we manage to win 3 in a row there, Potter will be building up a strong position.

But if we play 3 draws but win against Dortmund IMO Potter would still look bad. Ultimately the league is where you want to see improvement, Tuchel won the CL and still got sacked.

Disagree. Our league season is pretty much over at this point, even with a turnaround we can't catch the top 4 anymore. The Champions League is our only chance to salvage the season at this point

Disagree. Whatever the results we continue to walk in a Potter wonderland 😁😁😁

If it happens that we win the upcoming 5 matches (not sure about the order):

Leeds W
Southampton W
Spurs W
Leicester W
Everton W

With those 5 wins in a row, I imagine we would be pretty close to that top 5 position for sure, right now we're 8 points behind. A mini winning streak is all we need...

While we have an improved squad now and anything is possible, I currently cannot see us going on a 5 game winning streak in the league. We only managed that once under Tuchel around this time last year. In fact since we last won the league in 2016-17 season, our best run of wins in the league was 6 under Frank in 2019-20 season

There is a sub section of fans who will be on Potters back until the day he leaves. While we're not producing sexy football we remain obdurate and haven't been conceding many goals. That's with a ton of first team players all crocked and on the injury table and a plane load of new arrivals all integrating into the club. Im not sure we couldn't have done much better and hence why I'm giving our current manager some breathing space and hope he can start delivering results carrying 3 points week in week out. If we're still playing the same football come the end of season and in pre season I'll ask a ton of questions as I suspect will the board.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the season with the game right now and rest of the season... Wouldn't it be brilliant if we win the CL...

I was expecting a worse result to be fair, decent performance as well in the 2nd half, we're still in this tie

With a new manager in the 2nd leg I'd back us to go through.

Both our CL wins came with a mid season managerial chance.

Could we make it a Hattrick?

Not on Potter today, best we've played in ages.

Looks like this team is still suffering from cantfinish*tus and has been since for the past 4 seasons, getting beyond a joke now.

Whilst I saw plenty on the pitch to feel positive, and believe me I am, about our chances progressing, I feel the major obstacle is mentality and not sure GP has the mentality for football at this level.

He did his best and once again, it just wasn't good enough since after all, we lost due to a basic counter-attack, as if he were already losing nobody but Enzo was there so tactically Potter is just wishing luck comes his way and he doesn't actually make a gameplan. We don't really win against better teams than us and Dortmund isn't that much better and we still lost.

That was pretty much the average performance we had under Tuchel, lots of chances without much goals. The fact that it was our best performance in months under Potter says it all really.

Who would think putting Enzo Fernandez to defend a counterattack by himself would be a great idea?

how many wins we got in the last 2 months? If I simply look at the results only I would think we are f**king Southampton or Everton

We're in a proper sh*te position now where the new ownership wants to distance itself from the old one, have a new policy and stick with the manager...and we're sticking with the worst one we've had in years.

Apart from his first few games where we got results in spite of our performances- we have been in abysmal form his entire time in charge. Relegation form in the league, out of both domestic cups- admittedly with tough draws away against City but with a whimper each time- and you'd have to be a massive optimist to see us getting past Dortmund in the UCL.

Team looks disjointed and bereft of confidence. No passion or fight in anything about us right now- Potter seems to be comfortable with losing in pressers and when we go behind, our players looks like they have no fight at all to get back in it. One of the most expensively assembled squads of all time and if anything its already getting worse.

Boehly and co. have to swallow their pride and realize he's not the man to take us forward- this season is done, but if we stick with Potter beyond it, they can spunk their millions on any number of nice signings and we'll still be competing with Brentford and Fulham for mid-table positions and nothing more.

Incidentally Everton just hired a manager with a better resume than Potter and Southampton just sacked one with a better record than Graham had at Brighton as well.

They say a good manager can get his team over the line when they're not playing well so surely there's only one way to describe a manager who has found a way to consistently lose regardless of if his team performs well or performs poorly for years now.

Performance have been a bit better compared to January, but when you spend 300m, is that really a sign of progress?

There's surely other coaches that could get more out of this lot than Potter.

Yes, it's the 'process' that matters according to the boss and Potter, results almost become irrelevant. It's either Boehly really believes time will fix it all, or he just not paying attention to what's happening on the field. This weekend will be a fun one, surely we are a bit better than the team at the bottom without a manager, right?

Pundits are saying he needs more time.....

What might happen in this time?

How much time is reasonable?

if the answer is to achieve a settled team adapting to his style why does he make so many personnel changes and surely an interim version of his style might be to win the odd game and / or score more than 1 goal in a game.

It feels like we don't have a manager at present.

what is the problem with changing our manager periodically, it has served us well over the years

Don't let the football purists or true home grown fans who have moral points to score against their mates at the local boozer hear you.

Don't you know we should have a settled team and give the manager time?

It's hard for them to understand that In football for the past 3 decades or so, the only teams that have settled managers that are given time are those without lofty ambitions, or those that are winning things.

But like I say, I couldn't care less about GP getting my team to be a mediocre one, after all what I invest is my emotions. What I can't understand is that TB and BE with all the football people they are putting in place and all the hundreds of millions they spend, turn up to games quite often to watch this and whilst they may be carried away by seeing their new shiny toys running on the pitch, if they are so data focused and guided by numbers in their decision process, how come they are not looking at the data here to know they are backing the wrong horse.

The worst thing is all the so called assets will become depreciating ones in no time as well as their confidence in themselves draining with every unfavorable result.
