Don't think we deteriorated, we simply just carried on the form from Tuchel's tenure. We were ass before Potter came in.

We scored 76 PL goals last year, our third highest tally under Roman, so it may have been boring at times, but overall it was a lot more effective under Tuchel than we are seeing this season. We finished 3rd and only lost 6 games in 21/22 and we are at 7 losses already for 22/23, just over half way through the season ... and adrift in mid table ... and cannot score for toffee ...

Difference was Potter was actually playing attractive football at the same time with an emphasis on dominating games, not sitting back and sh*thousing a 1-0 like Pulis' Stoke.

We want to win but we want to win in style too. Obviously it hasn't come to fruition yet but there's a reason Potter was linked to the City job once Pep leaves.

Probably because nobody tops Pep, but topping the bloke after Pep.............?

Its the old Matt Busby - Frank O'Farrell, SAF - David Moyes train of thought.

How did we start this season with Tuchel though?

Lost 2-1 to current worst team in the league Southampton

Lost 3-0 to relegation threatened Leeds

Pumped 4-0 by Arsenal pre-season

Scraped past West Ham with one of the worst VAR decisions this season in our favour.

The signs were all there from the start.

Back end of last season wasn't much prettier:

Lost 4-2 to Arsenal

Only just scraped a 1-0 against 10 man West Ham

Lost 1-0 to Everton

Drew 2-2 to Wolves

Drew 1-1 with Leicester

Lost FA cup final (albeit a decent performance)

Probably why Roman appointed Grant after Mourinho Pt 1 LOL. An impossible act to follow, so might as well have Uncle Avram in as the patsy 🙂

You can't just cherry pick all the losses and draws and denigrate the one win you mention as "scraping". You've already lost your argument if you have to resort to that sort of stuff LOL

I think Pep's the exception to that rule unfortunately.

Both Barca and Bayern didn't miss a beat after he left.

It's funny how the Potter stans always cherry pick the worst results under Tuchels tenure and compare them to the average results under Potter.

Even this season we had 10 points from 6 games under Tuchel.  Not great, a little disappointing but we were above Liverpool, above Newcastle, only 2 points behind United. Above Fulham and Brentford who have also passed us.

Since Potter came in we're 15th in terms of points per game under him.  Tuchel has never had a 14 game run in his entire career were his team only won 2 games or they were as goal shy as we are now.

Saying we weren't performing well at the End of Tuchels time is fair enough but anyone pretending we haven't significantly regressed under Potter is simply not telling the truth.

They're pretty much every game we had from the back end of last season and the start of this. The only win i left our from last season was the 2-1 win against Watford. I left out the draw to the bang average Man Utd last season too if that helps.

Feel free to mention which wins were impressive in that time?

I don't know, I wouldn't call Pulis's stoke sh*thouses, they were a very rough team who were extremely hard to beat.

Pulis`s Stoke were the epitome of sh*thouse football, they had long boot upfield as their only attacking tactic, played every game not to lose, a win was a nice bonus. Now I`m not denigrating that, it worked and he made the best use of the lack of assets he had. But it most certainly was sh*thouse football.

But you can just cherry pick that one "scraping" comment and ignore all the losses and draws mentioned in his comment, is that right?

I suppose the clue is in the name but we get it you don't like Potter mate. I've just looked at your profile all your posts are about Potter even the matchday thread you still manage to reference him it's tedious.  How about posting about something else or preferably not at all.

I kind of enjoyed them in a way.

Mainly because we generally seemed to cope well against them while they beat Arsenal in some of the most hilarious ways imaginable.

I am defending Potter in terms of longevity. Not because of his results. His results with us just before World Cup and after it have been historically bad in terms of Chelsea being Chelsea as we know it.

People just slap results here..for me they are, at this point, irrelevant. But do discuss.

For me the results are relevant:

When we have some miles under the new players.

When we are playing a match where players are really invested in (Champions League on Wednesday). Here you can focus on the manager a bit more as the lads are fired up on the chance to win CL.

When we have our main players back in the fold and some miles in them.

We all know it would be something of Roman's playbook to sack Potter now or next season. We can't even remember a time before Roman and how we handled managers. Our hire and fire system was pretty unique in Europe. This is why people always laughed at us over sacking managers. We also won a lot. Cups at least. That time of course is precious and some beautiful history for us.

This is a new era.

Right on cue, here's Tuchel's #1 fan to lob his 10p into the thread LOL.

Why you pair persist in arguing that black is white is beyond me ... I'll leave you both to it ...

The manager is the single most important position at the football club, he's the face of the club, the spokesman and the primary driver of results. nothing else at the club matters in the short term if the wrong man is in charge and there is every indication we have the wrong man.

What's tedious is people still trying to absolve Potter of blame on a weekly basis or make up reasons why it's Tuchels fault 6 months after Tuchel left and no signs of improvement from the manager.

I'm not sure you know how to use a forum though if you don't think Potters name should be mentioned in a Potter thread or a match day thread given his tactics and decisions define the match.

Ha ha, so did I, I quite liked the fact they were the antithesis of the "beautiful game" lot, especially the Arsenal cry babies who thought defence wasnt part of the game anymore.

So as usual you bring up a load of bollocks then are unable substantiate it, so choose to slink off.

I suppose its better than your usual "too long didn't read " replies.

It is pretty hard to take your views objectively as your nick is here what it is.

I am guessing you are not here for the long haul if you firmly believe Potter is leaving pretty soon.

Obsessed over Potter much...🤣

Every single poster on this forum comments or posts on every topic yet you stick to one no deviation at all just slagging off Potter. I'm not sure you're a Chelsea fan no one joins a forum just to have a go at the manager and by definition the club. Show me one post where you have something positive to say about Chelsea.

The feeling within the Chelsea hierarchy is that Potter should be judged in years not months and they are confident they have one of the best managers in the game. [@David_Ornstein]

Looks like we’re in for the long haul with Potter.

I wonder what statistics they are looking at in their "data-driven" model, which tells them Potter is one of the best managers in the game. Cos it sure as sh*t isn't his win rate.
