But he's about the 10th winger we've been linked with where people have said "he isn't an improvement on what we have" since Boehly took over while every single one of them has vastly outperformed Pulisic and Ziyech for years and have continued to do so to start this season.

I think people forget just how bad our attacking options are.  Trossard being a vast improvement is the problem even if he himself isn't the perfect solution for us.

I think Potter is trying to change that, after all his last lineup featured 2 strikers + Havertz and Mount to accompany them.

There’s always a list going round of all the world class players Arsenal were close to signing but never did, including players like Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic.  Here’s hoping Mudryk is the next one to be added to the list.

I like the player but, not sure if i am allowed to say it, but it looks like its another Belgian footballer that seems to have fallen out with management.

TBF I like him as well, a good player for sure, although falling out with your manager just because your on the subs bench isn't a good look.

I am not sure if its in the genes for these Belgian lads. We ourselves had Courtois mouthing off, Lukaku, and Hazard front and centre with the camera.

I remember the Dutch being like that at one point as well. great footballers. Genuinely generational but just could not stop imploding. I think Edgar Davids walked out of a world cup or soemthing on one occasion.

Yeah, they are well known for thinking out loud.

Trossard had a really good spell a while back and he looked eletric.

Hardly played at the WC and when he did, he did  not shine and now not playing for his club team.

So not sure.

To be honest I'm happy he went to Arsenal, if we bid for him it will probably take 50M and he will sit on the bench half of the time.

Bit odd comparisations.

Davids is from the Netherlands but born in Suriname.

Trossard is from a small village in Limburg (Belgium) called Maasmechelen. 

Lukaku from Antwerp but raised in Brussels. Both big multicultural cities. 

Hazard is from the French part in Belgium (La Louviere) and basically raised in France. 

 

Their backgrounds are so different.

Theo nly common factor here is that Courtois, KDB and Trossard came all thourgh the KRC Genk academy.

But I doubt that this has anything to do with parting ways with clubs in a not ideal situation. 

As there have been so many other players from Genk without any issues. 
Also their all have a point in their own way.

I agree and it wasn't  meant as a dig per se. But I have friends who are Dutch and a work colleague who is Belgian ( Dutch Belgian, rather than French Belgian to be fair). One of the traits they have said that they have in common is a level of stubbornness and belligerence meaning they wouldn't back down in an argument. They have said speaking their mind is a national trait.

In an industry which appears from the outside to be so heavily ego orientated I could see where those kind of traits could cause issues with authority figures.

JK, well maybe there is a truth to it for some people, but I guess nowadays you have this in pretty much for every Western minded country. 
People become more vocal (and sensitive). I guess it has more to do with their agents and people surrounding them. 

Then again, maybe I'm just too stubborn to see it and all us Belgians are just headtrong Mules  😁

In 2 years Arsenal would have a 30 year old winger they will need to move on while we have a 22 year old, possibly first team and yet to hit his prime.

Arsenal are being praised for getting him for 20m, we got Madueke for an extra 15 mil and he could be here for a decade. How much will they need to spend to replace trossard in a couple years time? 40, 50m?

To be honest, they're probably thinking that's their best shot at the title in decades so it does make sense to spend now for a somewhat proven player and only worry about replacing him later, if Trossard can help push them to the title it'd be a major signing. The funny thing is they're treating Trossard as peak Van Persie and they're not on the same league at all. Obviously we all hope this move fails badly and City "saves the world" yet again. 

Why are we even considering him baffles me. Guy is a decent winger but the Prem is filled with decent wingers

He looked decent today. He had been poor for Brighton since the World Cup, but looks like a lot of that was his fallout with De Zerbi. Certainly gives them another option on the wing, but I think we were keener on younger, long term options at this point.

Can't sign all of them, I'm sure Arsenal preferred the other way around if they had the time again.

Think key may be stretching it a bit but yes was part of the move that led to the winning goal.

Of course looking at the qualities that Trossard has for the price Of 27m at 28 years old, it puts it into perspective of what the true value of Zaha should be compared to the rubbish quoted in the press. If you can look like a good player in a team that is playing well and is full of good players it's a bit different than Zaha.

Hopefully Mudryk has killed those rumours for good now.
