With two natural CMs at wingback and both Mount and Gallagher starting I wonder if we're going for the Pep tactic of totally overwhelming the midfield with sheer numbers.

That lineup screams frustration.

No width or attacking support for Broja. Hopefully no one blames him for having a poor game.

Interesting line up, the lack of width is concerning. Not convinced both Mount and Gallagher can play together. Loftus-Cheek is undroppable, but at least he is playing at wing back and not midfield. Another chance for Broja, he has to take it today. CB's worry me, mainly Koulibaly. Nice to see Hall in the team and the only 2 midfielders that seem to have any chemistry, Jorginho and Kovacic.

Seems like another non-functioning f..d up selection which would require immediate changes before half time. RLC is starting again...i guess Potter has some unconditional trust in this player.

Can a lineup ever be called exciting if it includes Loftus Cheek?

As opposed to Azpi, Pulisic or Sterling at wing back? Absolutely, yes. I feel RLC has done generally quite well for us at wing back, its in the middle games tend to pass him by

To be fair, who else can play RWB? There is no backup to James. Azpi doesn't have the legs for it anymore and I never want to see one of our wingers play there again.

That looks pretty exciting to me.

I'll give you that.

Mikel would look like a creative maestro playing next to Loftus Cheek.

RLC, Kova & Jorginho starting........the lack of creativity here is really frustrating. Broja will then be dropped again because he was fed crumbs.

I don't think I can actually watch another game currently with that midfield. Hopefully the likes of Hall & Gallagher have a cracking game.

A surprising and brave move to select this lineup. No width though, dont see us being much of an attacking threat although dont look much of an attacking threat with the regulars playing anyway.

I would of like to seen him this game. Has a point to prove and his pace I think would of bene useful. Also has very good record against Newcastle.

He is also saving himself for the World Cup imo.

Jorginho and Kovacic in midfield should be good

Bruno Guimarães will humble both tonight I'm afraid.

Potter resting key experienced players for the day after Boxing Day no doubt …….can’t fathom the line up vs this unbeaten in 9 Barcodes team ??
