Sure, but you get I mean 'mid' as in during the course of, rather than precisely half way. The point is that the window had closed and pre-season has gone. It's not the optimal time to come in as a new manager.

Hard to implement coming in mid-season, with all the injuries we've had, and with all the new players we've signed. He's made some mistakes to increase the difficulty of the job without a doubt, but those can't be undone now.

For me it's clear we won't win anything and getting into the top four is pretty remote. It doesn't matter if Potter shoulders some of the blame for this (imo he does).

Given that, sacking him now for an improvement in the short term doesn't make sense-even if that is what you think should have happened, the window for such a decision making logical sense has closed.

I think the key measure to determine whether he should be managing the club next season is if our performances start to improve week on week, with us playing a style of football that is recognisably a result of Potter's coaching.

If that happens, it should shore up his position.

If I was at the club, while hoping for that outcome, I would also be discreetly drawing up a shortlist for possible replacements in the event it does not.

Fully agreed. I'm not asking for his sacking immediately but he has a lot to do to earn the trusts that he's getting now

I think we will learn alot about Potter tonight and see how far we have come.

Obviously his football at Brighton was pretty good, team had space to attack because they’re Brighton, for us it’s different but at least in Europe they will go for it, so we’ll have space to play with.

If we play fantastic football tonight then it’s a good sign but then how does he solve parking the bus problem? A lot of teams will sit back against us so we can’t really play ‘potter football’. That’s where he needs to earn his money and I’m not sure if he will find a way.

So far 44 say he should g0 and 60 say he should be given more time...

I voted he should stay ... I don't think we'll go down but I think maybe they'll change it at the end of the season if it is still shyte.

Chelsea lost some massive talent that was never replaced - JT, Hazard, Drogba, Lampard, Cech ... add in the missing Kante and that's the core of class that the rest of the team played around...

Potter should be able to get some results now but to be fair Chelsea still haven't found a top notch striker (apart from Costa)... but I cannot help thinking we'll score a few more goals with Felix and the other new faces - so give Potter a few more months and lets hope we get a no 9 soon.

What about Fofana getting a chance, the 20min he played he was dangerous and made an impact! It’s a joke and for me Potter needs to go, he is useless.

It’s crap again, so not sure we should just stick and trust the process. I am done with him.

Whether you are for or against Potter, one thing is for sure, he needs to start winning games again pretty quickly now all the players are in his toolbox, even the most ardent GP fan must be close to having second thoughts.

All except a proven centre-forward Coco.

The holy grail.

So that's another 6 months to find a striker (no mean feet), then another 6 months for him to settle in.

In the meanwhile 2 wins from the last 14 in all comps.

Even an unmotivated Lukaku would be banging in goals with these players behind him. He had far inferior creators and still bagged a few last season.

We're back to Lukaku again. Jeez, did you forget that he's just as bad in front if goal?

1 goal in 10 games so far for Inter, he's fallen off a cliff

Aside Lukaku's poor technical ability and work rate off the ball, his ego alone would jeopardize the entire team.

The rest of the team would also be more hungry and faster as they would soon find out if they were not there would be nothing for them at training center Cafe.

Is it time for a third poll yet..................................?

I am warming to him and even if we manage to win the second leg in the CL, our season is pretty much over so we may as well stick with him and back him and see how things go into next season. Long term I'm hoping for better football and just maybe, Potter is the man to bring that.

How many strikers have we had that have come and either failed or never lived up to the expectations ?

Easier question - how many have we had that have come and done the business?

It’s not about the striker problem we have:

we always bought wrong striker for the wrong coach or buy one but we don’t have creative mid to support him. We use Havert for a striker role when we have creative mid now but we all knew Havert is not a 9 that can bully defenders.

with these setups we better use Auba or Lukaku, but Auba lost his spot and confidence now.

Lukaku can be your 9 with this much creative people around him and wingers that can take on defenders. You stuck with him anyway next season so better make use of it. Sell Havert and use money and time to buy  midfielders or new Attacker.

we have to many attackers anyways: Aubameyung, ziyech, Sterling, Broja , Forfana, pulli, Lukaku,…

you can’t sell all of them at once anyways.

Lukaku is the cheaper option atleast we would score a lot more goals. A hungry Lukaku with these mid would be a nice.

Bullying denfenders but with less workrate and when they are tired sup him for younger attackers with speed to exploitation of the space.

Whilst I agree largely that Lukaku would have worked far better with the players we now have. This boat has now left, his own attitude has well and truly burned his breeches. We need a hard working forward not only capable of occupying the centre backs, be prepared to run the channels selflessly, give us a physical presence and score the goals. Not an easy task to find.

And where you gonna find the money for that?

remeber we don’t play champions l and must sell players at discount price. So we should try to use what we have Broja/Lukaku/Sterling

withNkuku behind. Everybody know that Jao felix and Nkukku play same style and position.

That is the clubs problem not the fans. Lukaku just wouldn't work now, even though he would be a better fit than when he was here under Tuchel

I've had a few beers now but I think Charie is probably right if they don't win tomorrow he's on the down escalator... heading for the Brighton Pier 😁

I'm confident though... not very confident but enuff confident - I think.

Other way around. You bring on Lukaku to beat tired and slow defenders.
