April 5, 20233 yr Kai is taking some of the flak for others missing golden chances too. Someone on here last night wondered whether Kai's attitude was responsible for other players missing goal opportunities.! He was never bought as a striker anyway, why we keep persisting with it is beyond me.. But you don't have to be a red hot striker to put away those chances , we should have battered Liverpool last night. How is it that a team like us had a team selected by a guy who admitted that he had never ever had the responsibility of team selection before ?
April 5, 20233 yr We looked more fluid positionally and moved the ball much quicker, which shows we can do it. Negatives, I don’t think Kova looks like a player that can play that way, plays to slow, and obviously our finishing.

If we had put away the chances we had last night, most of the negatives would go away, the team would be much more motivated and so would the fans. People say we have got forwards but we don't have goal scorers. It's been so blindingly obvious for a long time and the untold millions spent trying to rectify that is a joke. Kai is not, nor is Stirling and as for the cnut lukacku.

Havertz and Felix another clean sheet - why don't they change it at 60-65 minutes ? Giving Sterling 5 minutes to score doesn't impress.

April 5, 20233 yr First of all I am not praising Kai. I felt the entire team played well last night. We basically nullified Liverpool and had 3-4 good chances to bury them. If we just put in one chance we win this one. Why we didn't is beyond me. People here are just so disrespectful and blind with Kai it is borderline disgusting. He was very good all night in buildup play. He fluffed a massive chance to even work Alisson which was admittedly horrible miss for a player his calibre. But he also had two great chances because of his movement: Chilwell's pass where Alisson was brilliantly just aside him and the handball goal. I loved the way Felix moved and took his first touches BUT he was miles away from scoring, absolutely nowhere near. Kai was the only player who was even remotely close in doing so apart from James' world class finishing on that offside goal. I don't think Felix and Kai partnership is ever a one that bangs in goals like Haaland. Neiter of them has that hunger. Both are very good in buildup play. We need a finisher. Maybe we need to give DD Fofana some minutes alongside either of them.
April 5, 20233 yr Same game as the last 70 or so I've seen, lots of possession, lots of chances - 0 goals. 27 shots v Villa (TWENTY SEVEN!) and NO goals! 12 shots v Liverpool and NO goals NO goals return off of 39 shots at goal! I think we've had more goals disallowed and more hits on the woodwork than we've had goals recently! A couple of weeks ago I joked that we were cursed......................now I'm not so sure its a joke! :-D

He missed one shot which admittedly was horrible but he made some great runs, was through on goal and unfortunately scored with hand. He made Alisson work a couple of times, Felix for example 0 times. His finishing should be better but Alisson was excellent you can't deny that. That is why managers pick him. If BS started Mudryk for example we wouldn't have had the chances he had in the game. The hate he gets here for not finishing is clouding everything else he is doing well. Havertz has never been good and he only scores a goal every 265 minutes. Last season Lukaku scored every 182 minutes and the majority of fans didn’t think that was good enough. How Havertz ever gets picked as a striker is beyond my comprehension!

Even when you concede that not every chance can be converted he should be on the scoring sheet more regularly.

He still seems to be the only player that even finds these chances. I am curious to see if we put DD Fofana in his spot what happens to our buildup play. That is the phase of the game right before the scoring chance or more often the transition on midfield. That work Kai did very well also against Liverpool. No one can defend his scoring record or rate, not least himself as he said post game.

April 5, 20233 yr Reading through this thread there is SO much doom and gloom!! We football fans are a funny bunch - I thought I would bring some positivity, here goes:- Fact is as a team we are starting to dominate the games and that is the hard part, some of our forward play is exceptional (up to a certain obvious point of course), how a team can out shoot an opponent 27 to 4 and lose 0-2 is pretty incredible in its own right when you think about it BUT it SURELY means that we are 'close' to putting something promising together no? Kante is back and that is a HUGE positive for any team! Enzo looks class, and our 'new' signings are starting to 'settle'. I am still feeling positive about our future......................AS LONG AS WE GIVE OUR NEXT MANAGER TIME!! Edited April 5, 20233 yr by Droyman
April 5, 20233 yr Should have won that at least 2-nil last night. The team selection wasn't exactly brimming with goal scorers. Kante, Fernandez and Kovacic are all basically non-scoring midfielders, and of the three I can only remember Kovacic even getting any touches in their box at any point in the game last night. Don't think Gallagher did either when he came on? It's always going to be tough if we are essentially relying on only two out of the ten outfield players (Havertz and Felix) for goals, especially those two LOL. 12 shots on goal, 4 for Havertz ; 4 for Felix, 4 for everyone else.

It's the same old story when it comes to scoring goals and if it does get better, its not going to be at the level required for a club this size. Certain players are holding this team back and need to be moved on.
April 5, 20233 yr Tbh We Were The Better Team Last Night, But Still We Are Awful, As Stated By Someone Else 39 Shots Last 2 Games And Zero Goals, Can't Just Put That Down To Lack Of A Striker As We Can't Hit A Barn Door With A Banjo

Still think he should have changed felix and havenotz after an hour... so they know... if they haven't scored after an hour they're benched. Half the shots we see are either scuffed, mish*ts and or easy for the opposition goalie. I like felix but seems to take on one player too many too often.

April 5, 20233 yr I don't care if you are bloody GK. Skying a shot that close to goal for a professional footballer is down right tragic. Awful from Kovacic but we know that's his game. Complete player lmao.

Everyone has to chip in, we had 16-17 goal scorers in TT's 2nd season.
