June 1, 20251 yr Apparently LA is who we now face in the group stage. https://www.fifa.com/en/tournaments/mens/club-world-cup/usa-2025/articles/fifa-club-world-cup-play-in-reportCouple of our games come in a decent hour. I think one of the group stage games was deep in the night from European perspective.

Was a huge game for both LA FC and Club America said to be worth in the tens of millions, and it showed as they both went for it.Giroud plays for LA FC so it's a reunion! The same Saudis who in December 24 got given the hosting for the world cup by FIFA. Weird that. Even so, I'm looking forward to the tournament. I think we should be good enough to reach the quarters and lose to PSG. That'll be good for about 25m
June 1, 20251 yr The prize money would be good for the transfer fund but I can't see us winning this. I have concerns over the quality of the pitches and would rather we rested our more fragile players. It would be very annoying if we not only had a disrupted preseason but also picked up some injuries. That would surely negate any advantage gained by the prize money.

Treat the last 16 as an early return for pre-season. The B team should be more than capable of getting out of the group anyway.I don't care if this competition is a potential once in a career opportunity. Next season is much more important, and it's going to be tough enough without this competition getting in the way. Edited June 1, 20251 yr by Scott Harris
June 1, 20251 yr Hi , just wondering does anyone know if we can watch it in Australia for free?Just checked Australian DAZN and they are charging $29 per month
June 3, 20251 yr I’m sure many starters will be rested or eased in, and the lesser first team players leading the way. We got two tickets for the first game in Atlanta. Way overpriced at $250 a ticket - dread to think what 2026 World Cup pricing will be. With the tickets sorted that’s almost a guaranteed 0-0 first game!

June 13, 20251 yr Just checked how to watch the games. Not sure where it is televised but in my case it is only via DAZN https://www.dazn.com/en-FI/welcome/fifa-club-world-cup?utm_source=affiliate&utm_medium=futbolenlatv&utm_campaign=campaign&utm_term=term&utm_content=1101l60286%7C1011lBmoj8Ku%7Cfutbolenlatv&gad_source=7&dclid=CJb_07mN7o0DFUZsHgIdrfkpDAI just registered to their service but if you do only use that button that is here (well down on that landing page) "Get started" otherwise it sells you that DAZn paid plan that is either 9,99 or 17,99 per month. I am 100% sure it will be irritating commercials and so on through the experience and you feel you should upgrade...if you have better knowledge on how to watch please share.I think I am able to download DAZN app to my Apple TV and watch it from there through my big TV. Will test it later..
June 13, 20251 yr On sunday at least one game I will watch PSG - A Madrid. Would love to see Estevao feature for Palmeiras but it is way too late for me.

June 13, 20251 yr Will be interesting to see how PSG perform in this tournament given their end to the season. I wonder if they'll be tired.

For a team of their quality, they play in the perfect league to prepare for a tournament like this one. Us, City, Real Madrid, Inter etc, it will be a lot tougher.10 hours ago, evissy said:Winner winner chicken dinnerThis is the only competition I see where the only incentive seems to be money. Whenever people talk about it, all I hear is the prize money. That should tell you everything about this tournament.
June 13, 20251 yr I’m a bit struck by the scathing abuse this tournament is getting in the press. For sure, it is questionable. But had the great Liverpool had their god given place in the competition, then I wonder if it would have been quite such an abomination in the British sports press.

No need to cover it with some other bullsh*t like prestige 🤣....Anyway anything new comes to this old sport everyone is always dissing it. 5 years go by and no one thinks about it anymore.

Like all the then new competitions that failed in the past ? Intertoto Cup, Anglo Italian Cup, Le Tournoi , and the very best ever domestic cup competition....The Watney Cup !!And the Superleague never even got off the ground 😂

It should feel special to win a trophy, but there are so many of them now t it's starting to lose that uniqueness. I watched PSG's celebrations and I already felt like I watched those same celebrations multiple times in recent weeks.....oh wait, I did.Who even has the time to invest in it all? Portugal won the Nations League the other day, and I couldn't give less of a sh*t. The only thing I knew is that Morata bottled yet another big moment and missed his penalty. We won the Conference League, but our games were literally the only games I watched. I suspect this was the same for most fans that had a team in that competition. The European Championships aren't as good as they used to be, because they extended it and let in a lot of very weak teams. The World Cup looks like a mess. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, I think we have reached that point with Football. You say 5 years go by and no one thinks about it, but they do. These things get brought up all of the time. Edited June 13, 20251 yr by Scott Harris
June 14, 20251 yr I mention the 1970s Watney Cup previously .It was a preseason thing and was between the highest goalscoring team from each division. What I didn't know, and find it hard to believe, is that the offside line was on the edge of the penalty box instead of the halfway line.I barely remember the name " Watney Cup" let alone the competition itself, but the offside rule change must have been a big thing at the time I would have thought. No internet back then, so unless someone down the pub knew about it, no one would've known about it either !
June 14, 20251 yr Hey guys, I'm in Jamaica atm on hols. Hopefully they'll be showing the games in the sports bar here but if not does anyone States side know what channels will be screening the matches. Are they all on Dazn only?
June 15, 20251 yr It was before my time, but the Watney Cup always felt familiar to me because when I was young it was still talked about how Halifax Town had beaten United in it and also it was mentioned in a Half Man Half Biscuit song. They should bring back the Watney Cup. Although it’d now be the called dodgy offshore Malaysian betting syndicate cup or similar. Maybe Infantino can organise a new one with the highest scorers from every league in the world??
