And who might that be, willing to step in mid-season? Even if a new permanent manager had started immediately and failed to improve us, then people would have complained the board hadn't taken enough time to consider. Everything is hindsight.

I would imagine any of the currently unemployed managers we are looking at for a start.

At least they would have had a good look at the players BEFORE the transfer window so they would know who do get rid of, nothing hindsight about that !

Who did people think would come so far gone in the season? We weren't getting an elite manager with 2/3 of the season gone.

Enrique was begging to take the job before the Madrid game according to the papers.

Lot's of people are confused how to fix this. It is so easy, bring on Kante and James and we will be much better.

Bizarre to me we've played 4atb without an actual DM.

Brighton playing like a club that has:

a) a system

b) Continuity to structure and ethos

c) coaching players to be familiar in their role...

This is what we were aiming for under Potter (who let's not forget built the foundation for the current Brighton team).

Unfortunately- short term charlie's couldn't be patient, and new money discontent grew so we chucked out that plan - and are currently starting yet again

If Potter had anything about him, he would have shown some sign of that, but he didn't. There was never any structure, never any clue who the first 11 should be, no identity to our game. He was sh*t and that doesn't change just because there has been no improvement under Lampard. This is as bad as the Southampton game, and they are bottom of the table.

When he ran out of ideas, he went straight back to Tuchel's formation and tactics. The guy didn't have a clue in 5 months and was showing zero signs that things were going to improve under him.

Personally think this is nothing to do with the players. We are getting outclassed by a well coached team. It’s modern football in a nutshell, it’s more about coaching than individual personalities and brilliance.

If you are constantly booting it up the pitch trying to get out and break the press then that’s on the coaching.

Playing for the badge and putting effort in is nonsense. Young players need clear instructions and they need to be coached on how to deal with different phases of play.

Shows how important the coaching decision is. Spending 600m on players means nothing if the manager is incompetent

Rob Sanchez £0 - Kepa £71m

Pervis Estupinan £15m - Ben Chilwell £45m
Lewis Dunk £0 - Benoit Badiashile £35m
Adam Webster £20m - Wesley Fofana £75m
Pascal Gross £3m - Trevor Chalobah £0m

Moises Caicedo £5m - Enzo Fernandez £106m
Alexis Mac Allister £7m - Denis Zakaria £3m (loan fee)
Julio Enciso £10m - Conor Gallagher £0m

Kaouri Mitoma £3m - Mikhail Mudryk £88m
Danny Welbeck £0m - Raheem Sterling £47m
Solly March £0m - Christian Pulisic £57m

Total cost Brighton: £63m
Total cost Chelsea: £527m

Replacing Potter with Lampard was pointless.

Not being able to convince a top coach to come in before the Madrid tie shows what an un appealing proposition Chelsea are, and pulling the trigger with no plan short or long term, shows what a shambles the club are right now.

By all accounts Enrique was very happy to take over about an hour after the Potter news came out ... saw it as a great opportunity.

He was here how long? With no pre season. In a season disrupted by the world cup. With half a new team to integrate (mostly young uns) in the winter transfer window.

What did you expect in such a short time given the circs?

Only thing I'll say in his defense is that he was lumped with a dozen new players all signed for ludicrous money and expecting to play.

HT: Chelsea 1-1 Brighton

Brighton attempted 12 shots in the first half at Stamford Bridge, the joint most that Chelsea have faced in the first half of a Premier League home game on record (since 2003-04).

Then why bring him in it was pointless. And it’s not the players anymore because Brighton does not have better players then us, just better coaching and organisation. I wanted Potter to gone but that was with the thought of the board having a clue which now clearly they don’t.

If the plan was to replace Potter with Lampard keep Potter.

Is this how it goes then:

- Potter is woeful, sack him!

- Cheering when he is sacked

- "We didn't mean it"

That should be in Lampard's half time team talk ...

Potter wasn't doing this good with Brighton, they were in the bottom half most of last season and were one of the lowest scoring teams in the league. Not to mention De Zerbi has won a league title with Shakhtar as well

There's no doubt he is a good manager, I'd just prefer someone who has proven themselves at the top level from this point on, we can't afford any more risks.

It wasn't Potter we needed, it was Tony Bloom and Brighton's entire recruitment team

& a smart club would have given him an 18mth contract + an extra year option. Watch us give the new manager a 5yr contract again in the summer.

100% this we look way worse now than with potter

We are being torn to pieces here!  Still blaming Potter are we!!!???? At least under Potter we were dominating possession and getting shots off at goal! Now we have NOTHING, no possession, no shots, nothing!  I thought that some on here told us we would be better without Potter!!?

In the days of Roman we had no problem getting an interim manager of quality when needed. In fact there was a queue. Boehly carrys no clout in this arena, he's a junior sadly.

While I wouldn't go as far as you, I think you are right here that Lampard has been thoroughly out "tactic'ed" thus far.
