It is just basic math, you give player more chances to create/score then they will create/score. However there is no such thing as just sort the system and you suddenly will be clinical. Clinical finisher is clinical finisher. Ball striking and ability to get shot are skill. We saw what happen to Kai and timo. I am actually more suprised when they score than when they miss. I think all Chelsea fans want our chances to fall to Alonso/Chilwell/James 😂😂 It's not about players suddenly becoming clinical it's about volume. In Tuchel's only full season we as a team produced our 3rd highest ever goal tally in the PL (only behind our 2010 and 2017 title teams) despite us not having one reliable week in week out scorer.

So stats agree with me. The last time we had realiable goal scoring threat was the last time we scored 80+ goals. Your stats also say basically we scored tons of goals under ancelotti but not with Mou even with Diego or Drogba + Lampard. Mou Chelsea didn't score many goals 😱😱 Edited August 17, 20232 yr by Bob stark
August 17, 20232 yr I think people forget that Costa was our last reliable goalgetter. 🤣🤣🤣 We had Higuain, Morata, torres. All nonsense
August 17, 20232 yr We'd probably need a fair amount of players to all chip in 8-15 goals each to really contend for the league in place of a prolific goal scorer. Edited August 17, 20232 yr by Sconnie Blue

The fact that tuchel teams was the 3rd highest scoring team even without a goalgetter is not a suprise. Our last reliable goalgetter was Costa and we scored 85+ goals. Then we had Morata, Higuain nonsense. Before that we had anelka, Drogba, +Lampard and we were scoring for fun under ance.

You are right. The question is can they do it? So far I don't see anyone in our team who can get many shot off except Jackson, Nkunku, Gallagher, James, Chilwell, Sterling. Nkunku will be out for a while. Sterling can only score tap in. Gallagher is playing dm. It is difficult to rely on fb.
August 17, 20232 yr Just basic shooting stat from our 1st game The one who get shot off was Jackson, Chilwell, Enzo. (Reece one was probably from a set piece) If you compare it with pool All 4 of their attackers can get shot off.

It’s well and fine for emergencies, but if are expecting a title/top 4 push it isn’t sustainable.
August 17, 20232 yr First Fofana, then Nkunku, now James. Injury curse still there. Wonder who is next for Pochettino to deal with losing.

August 18, 20232 yr I don’t think any of our injuries this season are surprising or a curse. Each of fofana, James and nkunku missed most of last season with injuries. Nkunku is the one you might have hoped would have avoided it. recently my dog had an expensive knee reconstruction. If that had happened when it was younger the odds of the other knee also failing are about 40%. As an older dog there are better odds for the other knee. point is I think that players subject to muscle or tissue injuries will get more of them than other players.
August 18, 20232 yr Poch now has a midfield three that can outrun, out work and outplay any midfield three in the world

August 18, 20232 yr Good news on Reece, only a few weeks out. Also apprecciate that Broja will be given a chance.

This is all on paper, of course. Despite the money spent, what happens if Enzo gets an injury for a few weeks/months? What does our midfield look like? We don't really have anyone ready to offer 50% of what he offers. That's actually worrying, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Lot of potential, lot to prove. Will one day we look back on these 3 as fondley as we do the trio of Maka, Lamps and Essien? I hope so.
August 19, 20232 yr It's probably my anti Spurs bias but I really REALLY didn't want Poch as a manager. But now that he's here, I hope he exceeds all expectations by a country mile. His Spurs teams lacked any sort of cohones. Then again, Spurs are serial bottlers regardless of manager. And he was hardly able to sign the best players. Just hoping he's immensely successful with us.

They've been nothing special since he left, even more so without Kane.

August 20, 20232 yr Where has this sudden reversion to a back 5 come from? It seemed like we had switched to a back 4 in pre-season, which I was very much looking forward to given how dull watching a side with a back 5 is.
