Nicolas Jackson - striker

He just assisted for Sarr's (deserved) equaliser against England.

He had a good game. Was a handful. Done very well to get that assist. Decent strike later he had as well which was saved by Henderson but this is the Jackson I like seeing. Had good hold up play also.

Come on Levi and Trev - break his legs. Metaphorically of course.....

His teammates let him dominate and Nico had a great game. Perhaps not the wisest move by Tuchel to play Chalobah and Colwill as our CB's for this one.

Great?

Zero goals and a lucky assist ....that's great is it?

He was, unsurprisingly, rubbish....as always. 7.2 rating on sofa score - so glad i am not the only one who doesn't think he was "great".

your golden boy Enzo Fernandez only managed 7.31 for the whole season 😂 - maybe stats aren't your best evidence here

My Golden Boy is Turbo Timo Werner.....

But for context, Enzo Fernandez averaged the 2nd highest rating across the EPL - behind only Cole Palmer.

For further context - Jackson finished 13th - just ahead of the maligned Nkunku and out of position Gusto.

An odd argument to pick!

Uh oh, this "context" is even worse

Firstly I was responding to you suggesting Jackson's 7.2 was a bad score, within the context of that particular England game.

The "context" you've shown suggests not only is it a good score, it's on par with the outstanding Caicedo and better than Cucurella.

To be absolutely fair though, he is roughly as much of a goal threat as either.

If you (or anyone - not aimed at you solely) think 7.2 in any single game constitutes a 'good' or 'outstanding' performance, then it shows how far standards have dropped. Of course, over a season an average above 7 is more respectable, albeit not earth shattering.

In the game last night, he got a bump in score due to the lucky assist when he hoofed the ball back as he desperately tried to keep it in play. Take that bump off, and he is once again lingering in the low 6's.

He remains, and will continue to remain, utterly rubbish as a footballer, with very little quality in anything he does.

LOL

His team did win the game. I mean that was a good team performance. He was a good performer in a great team win maybe?

Yep - Senegal won, despite the hinderance of having the fraud donkey in the team. He did very little to help them. Sarr however - no there is a decent player.

My friend, this is the Nicholas Jackson of statistical arguments. Well off the mark and wide of the target.

Better to point out that a decent outing in a post-season friendly against England's D team is meaningless, as was an assist that really only happens because Kyle Walker did a great impression of Nicolas Jackson paying attention to his teammates.

One swallow does not make a summer - but, to quote a legendary Shed End moment, it may make or break a relationship

Spy Barnett gives him a 7/10 for the season and says "(...) he's the best forward in the Premier League (...)" : https://martintylerandneilbarnett.substack.com/p/rating-chelsea-players-season-202425

15 Nicolas Jackson
31+4 games, 13 goals
7/10
Because the club bought no back-up centre-forward, for two years Jackson has had to play when fit. In some ways it’s served him well as he’s learned the game. When Maresca talks about his quality he always emphasises his work off the ball. I actually think Nico deserves more praise than even Enzo gives him. I really think he’s the best forward in the Premier League for closing down, for pressing opposition defenders and goalkeepers. Every game he’s like Dembélé was in the Champions League Final. And in the first half of the season he was vastly improved of first touch, both in receiving the ball and in striking it in the penalty area. He’d never have finished goals like the home one against Newcastle when he drilled in Neto’s cross after Palmer’s pass of the season. And he seemed to have matured and not picked up so many silly bookings. His scoring drought before his injury was frustrating, but the stupid sending off at Newcastle was infuriating and irresponsible, undermining his season and leaving him with average returns rather than improved ones. Now that he’s established himself, and now that he’ll have competition from Delap, this coming season needs to be his big step-up to top of the bill status. More goals, more penalty area terrorism, more stability. It’s time to join the big name centre-forwards of the century: Jimmy, Didier, Diego…

All for it....at Fulham.

I'm with Evissy when he says that the owners have ditched the unsuccessful Roman model and are buying inexperienced young(ish) players who will automatically improve.

It's bound to work , because our owners don't get that wealthy without knowing what they are doing . Jackson is on his way to stardom. .. Why can't you understand that ? Or get a different hobby ?

He is already a star. World famous for being sh*t at kicking a football - a fraud. a donkey. a class A c**t.

Best forward in the Premier League. Pfftt.!! Brennan Johnson and Raul Jiminez would have something to say about that.

Johnson also scored the winner in a European final, it’s true.

You're wrong. On the radio they said " he lead the line really well" Surely that's the main thing, goals are secondary. An afterthought really ?
