Jackson will still be our first choice striker next season and the bald one will continue to select him every week.We have this tactic of showing interest, having a list of possible targets, brief the media and then taking our time to decide while other clubs choose an option and go for it.People will wonder why Cunha would even choose Man Utd but if you show the player you really want them quickly enough they will consider moving to the club.Clearlake’s tactics seems to be wait as long as possible to get a discount (which doesn’t even really work with us) or only spring into action when another club bids. Lavia and Caicedo are 2 players we could have easily missed out on with the boards daft tactics. While we decide whether we should go for either Delap, Sesko or Gyokeres they’ll probably get picked off individually one by one and the board won’t even understand how we end up with none of our transfer targets.

There is a degree of joy to be taken in us being sh*t.Us old guys have experienced it. 26 years without winning a major trophy. Lived it, smelt it, spent lots of money we didn't really have following it. And, for sure, painful as it was, perversely, it was also f**kin brilliant at times. Swansea, Orient and Grimsby away. Relegation. Getting gubbed by Tottenham. But never giving up. Always coming back for more. Obviously, you badly need to experience it my friend to appreciate it. Because for sure, it builds character. It tests loyalty. It makes you thick-skinned. And you get a genuine feeling of "deserving" the better times when, (and possibly against all reasoning, if), they come.I hope you get your wish RS. So you can live the "we were sh*t" experiences too and become part of the brotherhood. Your wish for Jackson up front is a very good start on the road. Thanks . BUT....I' lived through the sh*t years too, I was at Wembley as a school boy in 1967 against Spurs . So I know exactly what you are talking about, I really liked your comment though, it really put into words what it's been like for us old 'uns.Cheers Just, 👍
May 14, 20251 yr I would not be at all surprised if Jackson is our opening day striker in August, wearing the #9.

May 14, 20251 yr Well we do love all things Brighton. Still amazed we did not sign Evan Ferguson in January.
May 15, 20251 yr Probably for the rumours section but some pretty reliable people in Italy said there are multiple clubs looking at him and we're open to good offers. I do think we're open to good offers for most of our players though. What is a good offer for Jackson? Edited May 15, 20251 yr by Sheva

I reckon his value is around £45m which no Italian club will pay. Needs to be within the PL.

May 15, 20251 yr Im not Jacksons biggest fan by any means but 24 goals in 64 games is still a good return.Compare him to someone like Mateta who's had 38 goals in 128 games and he's 4 years older. I think the club will be looking for 40+ for him easily when you look at him that way. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by Sheva
May 15, 20251 yr Palace paid £30m for Nketiah. We should be able to get £40m at bare minimum for Jackson.

Forgetting what other players have gone for, having watched Jackson this season (and particularly since December), would you honestly be willing to part with millions for him?

May 15, 20251 yr Chelsea have missed 79 big chances this season, the second-highest total in the Premier League.Unreal - that statistic probably belongs in the Maresca thread too - probably explains why the clowns, who have failed to sign a decent striker, have got to stick with him.

People will also have been watching his form up until December and take the risk in case they can get him playing to that standard. £40m is pennies in the PL these days. Spurs watched Werner score 6 and 4 league goals for us in back to back seasons and still decided to give him another chance in the league. Double digits in back to back PL campaigns will undoubtedly bring suitors.

(and I believe we are 1st in big chances missed). We have the 3rd best defence in the league despite having a GK who leads Europe in most errors leading to chances and most errors leading to goals. We created the 2nd most chances & big chances in the league whilst being 1st in big chances missed.

It's not just Jackson's goal return that is an issue, it's his overall ability and his braindead actions on the pitch. Gudjohnsen scored a similar amount of goals as Jackson in a season, but he was a far better and more intelligent footballer.

He only just signed a new contract and is on until 2033, I can't see us selling him for a cut down price when we are buying players like Kellyman for 19m. Edited May 15, 20251 yr by Sheva
May 15, 20251 yr No matter his limitations, and what people think of him. No way is the club accepting £25m for him and rightly so. You got players like Lloyd Kelly leaving for £20m who barely has touched a ball this season. Jackson is never going for that amount. Come on now. There is one thing not liking him but get real. We would be more of a laughing stock than we are already to let him go for £25m.

He came of a season where he barely played at Leverkusen and in fact his loan was terminated early IIRC, so his value dropped. Jackson is a first team regular and is playing.

Or he stupidly laid it off for one of his team mates... when he should have had a pop himself ?Or he tripped over his own feet... etc. Edited May 16, 20251 yr by Bebe1980
