So basically looks like he will go to Liverpool, leaving Newcastle in need of a striker with a lot of cash.

Senior sources at Stamford Bridge say that Jackson will be reintegrated into Maresca’s squad after the deadline if no transfer materialises. Chelsea are not desperate to sell him.

what could go wrong?

Sweet and spicy Cheetos today, will give an opinion around midday. Maybe earlier if my hunger isn't satisfied by my apple and banana.

Don't forget you're eating for two. Keep those calories coming.

Bloke's a twat, his agent has been advising him so badly. Back in March he was giving press conferences about how much he loves Newcastle, the fans, the city etc and now he's just refusing to play for them.

We're quite lucky that we've only had that sort of behaviour once or twice in the last few decades. Gallas and Courtois are the only ones who come to mind.

Not the first time the scouse vermin have incited a player to do this kind of thing, did it with Van Dijk also. Yet no mention of this from their pet media, though a player dares leave to Madrid and hes dragged over the coals, is a traitor etc.

The Geordies don't really want Jackson. Even Shearer has jumped in on it now.

Why Wissa and Watkins would be a good fit at Newcastlepublished at 12:49 British Summer Time

It seems obvious that Liverpool have got into Alexander Isak, or his agent, to turn his head and make him want to go there. From a players' perspective, rather than a fan, I get the mentality where he has made his mind up about what is best for his future too.

But it is the club that matters most here and, whatever happens next, the crux of the matter is that Newcastle United are far bigger than any one individual - it always has been, and always will be.

So, Newcastle have to look after themselves, which means that if they are contemplating letting Isak go for whatever price they want for him, then they also need to get two strikers they want in before they can do that.

If they are available, Brentford's Yoane Wissa and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins are proven Premier League strikers and probably the best-case scenario from Newcastle's point of view.

Wissa's situation, in particular, sounds very similar to Isak's. It just shows you that this is something that happens in football all the time, and of course it is frustrating when you are on the wrong end of it.

What a mess. He has to end up with the dippers now and if so I hope it all goes horribly wrong for him and them.

Really liked Isak as a player and he seemed a good pro too, but wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole now (not that we need him anyway with Pedro & Delap). Eddie Howe is such a decent bloke - I bet he is fuming. Isak won't be able to look him in the face.

Unless Newcastle come in for him, I don’t see how we sell to another club. European teams won’t pay £60-80m, they’ll want a loan.

I cannot believe that there are still people who even think we can get £60 to 80 million for him. I would dearly love to be wrong on that, but the only hope I ever had for that kind of stupid money was from one of the Saudi clubs.

No one is paying £80m for Jackson. Recent briefing is they have dropped the fee to the £50m they received for Madueke, and they are convinced he is worth double the £32m they paid for him. Big issue here is like most of their signings, they overpaid at £32m.

Meanwhile the bin dippers will be rubbing their hands, while their media friends drop a cloak of "admiration" over Isak, to ensure no one mentions tapping up. Isak has been exposed as a bad egg and he can thank that very smart club as the media calls them.

Oh and i had a packet of Prawn Cocktail Crisps today. Very Nice.

Perhaps by the end of the transfer window there will be a team without a striker, or failing that the Saudi window is open till the 10th September.

I wouldnt be surprised if we did a deal with Manu with Garnacho coming to us and Jackson going the other way.

They have other strikers and we have other wide men but a loan deal both ways or a straight sale both ways could work for both clubs.

If we believe recent reporting - we already raised this option (also Disasi, Nkunku and Veiga I think) and they said no....

We have a strict one knob in one out policy. So once Jacksons gone we can make room for

Update: Really nice. Had them about 12:45PM. Will buy again.

Not managed to eat my chocolate digestive spilt pot yogurt yet though.

The easier sales are done, now is the more difficult ones to shift whether that is due to high salaries:

Nkunku, Sterling, Chilwell.

High values vs actual ability:

Jackson, Disasi.

Or other factors like injury history:

DD Fofana, Carney.

Will be a hard task to ship these players out, and an impossible one other than loans for Sterling, Chilwell and Nkunku imo. Those 3 know these mammoth contracts they are on are the last time they get such a contract unless they go to Saudi.

I honestly don’t mind giving Nkunku another season.

Especially with our attack having massively upgraded this summer, surely it’s worth persisting with Nkunku for one more season just to see how he’d do.

With the likes of Madueke and Jackson starting last season, we had the problem of players going for personal glory rather than playing for the team. Nkunku strikes me as the type of player that really would excel in a heavy team based system and it looks like we are getting there.

Why though? All he’s going to do is take minutes away from Estevao.

UB did you say that Nkunku will take minutes away from Estevao? Those prawn cocktail crisps might be playing tricks on your mind!🙂

I doubt if Nkunku would make the bench for some games.

I wouldn’t mind Nkunku staying - as long as his head in the right place and makes an effort. Last season, you could tell he was cheesed off and couldn’t be bothered.

In other news, it looks like Newcastle are buying Morgan Rodgers from Villa for £40m. I reckon they are spending their Isak money now.
