Villa with 11 wins in 16 now. Emery made a team out of Pau Torres, Martinez, Tielemans, Baily, Watkins, Digne... If you know you know.

I just want to take a moment to applauded Villa on their amazing home form.

Is not just bums like Sheff United and Burnley they have beaten, but City and Arsenal.

What is thar 15 home wins in a row? That is sensational.

I took great enjoyment and pride out of Jose's home form in his first spell with us, I loved it.

Hats off to Villa that is special.

Liverpool for the title? They've not really been spoken about that much.

They're a weird team though, one day look lethal the next day look crap, very inconsistent. I can't see them keeping it up for the rest of the season.

Very good side. Top keeper, clever manager, midfield has formed up very quickly and of course they have Salah.

They will be there. Comes down to City though, how long does it take them to put together a run of wins to catch up? How big will the gap be?

I still believe that they are overachieving and that their realistic spot is top 6-8, there is still a lot of matches left.

If it's not for how sh1t we are, the EPL is actually as exciting as it could get this season. At least 4 teams are battling for the title, and anything could happen in a game.

Villa is having a party, just to show with the right manager and clever signings, you don't need a billion dollar 'project' over 5 years to be successful. Emery is a good manager, think he was way under rated at Arsenal, and great to see him getting one over his successor.

Just can't believe how the likes of Villa, Newcastle, West Ham even Spurs without Harry Kane are more consistent and higher up than us. A billion spent and still suffering. Absolutely painful.

🤭🤭🤭

But those team want to win now, we want to win in 2050

Arsenal fans just can't accept a defeat can they, it has to be because the ref cheated, theirs a conspiracy against them etc, and MOTD and sky buy into it.

Yesterday the penalty was 50/50 at best, jesus and Saka had spent the entire game diving so glad the ref didn't give it.

The Havertz goal is hand ball, he touched it 3 times for f**ks sake. He had one disallowed against Liverpool for the exact same thing, weirdly everyone agreed it was the right decision then, cant think whats changed since then.....

Can't help but admire how well Aston Villa are performing. They've been a great side ever since Emery took over.

2023 calendar ladder (January 1 - Present)

  1. Man City = 83 (played 37)
  2. Aston Villa = 78 (played 38)
  3. Arsenal = 77 (played 38)
  4. Liverpool = 76 (played 38)
  5. Man United = 70 (played 38)
  6. Brighton = 64 (played 38)

    15.  Chelsea = 39 (played 38)

Teams that have achieved 35 or more points from the first 16 PL games

  • Newcastle United (1995/96) = 39 (🥈)
  • Manchester United (1999/00) = 36 (🏆)
  • Arsenal (1999/00) =  35 (🥈)
  • Leeds United (1999/00) = 35 (🥉)

  • Manchester United (2012/13) = 39 (🏆)

  • Manchester City (2022/23) = 36 (🏆)
  • Liverpool (2023/24) = 37 (?)
  • Arsenal (2023/24) = 36 (?)
  • Aston Villa (2023/24) = 35 (?)

Since 1996 when the PL became a 20-team and 38-match season competition, every team with 35+ points after 16 games has finished at least 5th or higher at seasons end.

Villa are legitimate contenders for the title.

Yes I am surprised too though they have one of the best keepers in the league and added Pau Torres and Leon Bailey.

I also rate McGin as well.

They seem to have a balanced team with goals in them.

Injuries galore has started taking it's toll on Newcastle.

You can see it last game vs Everton and it just snowball. It will be very difficult for Howe to stop it unless he start getting his injured player back.

All this praise for Aston Villa, but I don't know why. I look at them and I can't see a team full of expensive 20 year old potentially good players that will hopefully be brilliant in a four or five seasons. They're doing it wrong.

Bayern's team is more patched up now than before, their defense has players from Ligue 1, Serie A, Eredivisie and then they have Sane and Kane from the PL, it's mostly the midfield that is originally from Bundesliga.

United completely out of Europe as it stands - won't even drop into the Europa League !

Apparently they've conceded the most goals ever in the group stages by an English club.

That is a damning stat.

Just a real shame I can't take the piss properly as they battered us last week and are well above us in the table. Same with Spurs. At least we beat them but again, they are so far ahead of us in the PL and look better than we do most weeks.

What a sh*t season.

Let's be real, English football needs Chelsea and Liverpool in the Champions League. United are underachievers, Arsenal are known for going out in the last 16 and the others just don't have the know how when it comes to getting over the line.
