Ratings so far this Season

Featured Replies

It's been ages since I started a thread and so disillusioned after last nights ineptness that I though I would post ratings up to this point in the season. Think these are fairly accurate and if you disagree, you are wrong..................!!

Sanchez 5. Very average keeper who takes too many risks. Not sure why we signed him – out of desperation it seems. Responsible for us not beating Arsenal which still annoys me.

Petrovic 8. He isn’t Cech or Courtois but until we find another keeper of that calibre, he will do. I like what I’ve seen up to now.

James 0. Another season to write off. Not sure why he was made captain. Even the minutes he has played, he looks a shadow of what he once was.

Chilwell 3. See James, but I have a little more hope that he will return to something like the player he was.

Cucurella 3. Pointless signing. Has had one or two, decent performances but far outweighed by all the poor ones.

Disasi 3. Another questionable signing. Not a great defender and very uncomfortable on the ball – we need better than this fella.

Badiashile 4. I do rate him but another treatment table specialist and when he has played has made bad errors. Can only hope he returns to form when fully fit.

Colwill 6. I am certain he will be the answer at CB, so have taken the fact he is being played out of position in his mark.

Silva 8. Yes, time is catching up with him but he is still far and away our best defender and is probably as surprised as anyone that he is playing as many minutes at 39. He’s different class and I’m tempted to give him a 10 for that alone.

Fofana 0. See James, although I still have hopes that he can overcome injuries as he looks quality when 100% fit.

Gusto 6. Has been decent if a bit erratic at times but only 20 and will hopefully get better and better.

Gilchrist 6. Very little playing time but already showing why he is being likened to JT. One for the future.

Gallagher 6. Pick of the midfielders IMO, which granted, isn’t saying much. Pluses are his energy, determination and ground he covers but lacking in goals and assits and needs to curb some of the silly tackles.

Enzo 3. This guy seems to have gone backwards. When he first played I thought what a massive upgrade on Jorginho. Now he looks like Jorginho mark 2. Thought he would be bossing the midfield and playing killer passes but he has been a massive disappointment only outweighed by……

Caicedo 2. I just don’t see it. We have been well and truly mugged by Brighton and some.

Ugochukwu 0. Haven’t seen enough of him but not impressed with what I have seen.

Lavia 0. Have hopes for him but needs to get fit.

Chukwuemeka 6. Promising start to season only for the injury curse to strike but definitely a player to persevere with.

Palmer 9. The one bright note of the season so far. The lad is quality and our season would be a write off without him.

Mudryk 4. Can he come good? Every time you see little signs, they evaporate next match when he just runs into players and falls over. Would persevere with him but his is at Gronkjaer levels.

Madueke 7. I like him and think he has been hard done by to only get limited playing time. Still raw and at times looks clumsy but would much rather see him start games than…….

Sterling 2. Sorry, one good game in 5 is nowhere near enough. The team looks better when he isn’t in it.

Broja 4. Think his best role is coming off the bench as he doesn’t look good enough to start or play 90 minutes.

Jackson 3. He’s no striker. We clearly need a LOT better.

Nkunku – can’t really mark him as we all know he IS a player but has hardly figured. Have high hopes for him IF he can stay injury free.

Pochettino. Score would change on a weekly basis but overall and with the Boro shambles fresh in my mind 3. I want to see improvement. I want to see us playing with a style and identity and I want him to be up remonstrating when things aren’t going well, not sat on his arse with his cronies. MUST DO BETTER and quickly.

Feel better for getting that of my chest, but what a sh*t show we have been.

These "ratings" are just way off the mark, even allowing for the poor performance and result from last night.

Laughable ratings tbh.

What universe do we live in when Sterling and Jackson each with 7 goals a piece are rated lower than deadwood like Broja and Mudryk who barely have a single good career performance between them and have been ineffective this season.

We'd be calling it an improvement if either could manage 1 good game in 5.

Chilwell certainly didn't look a better LW than Sterling either and that's the only place he's played this season. Colwill has been a similarly poor LB.

And Carney played a game and a half before injury and had about 16 good minutes in total so a 6 seems very generous.

As I said, Sterling has one good game followed by 5 sh*t ones (despite the fact he is meant to be one of our "main men") and Jackson only has the goals he has 'cos he scored against 9 men and poor sides. We were sh*t last night but still didn't miss Jackson!

Harsh on Enzo and Caicedo Nibs. I think there are players in there and in a better organised side they could flourish but in the present shambolic way the team is set up they have still done ok.

Very harsh on Sterling too and poor old Ugochukwu!

I know I'm wrong.

An average score should be 5 as it’s halfway between 0 and 10, so in a season where Chelsea are hanging around mid table, the average rating for the squad deserves to be somewhere around 3, at a push 4.

An average, 5/10 season for Chelsea should be top 4

To be fair one good game followed by 5 sh*t ones would still see him score higher than Mudryk who hasn't mastered the art of one good game yet.

I'd score Sterling higher. I'd struggle to give Mudryk any score. His contribution this season ranks alongside The Post Office in their quest to be employer of the decade

I don't necessarily agree with every individual rating, but I do agree with the overall sentiment. Reading from this it is easy to identify 2 of our biggest issues with this squad:

1) Too many players that most agree have proven quality seem to be continually injured or in conditioning following injury. In part due to some luck, but also down to signing several players who were either injured at the time or returning from long term injuries.

2) Several big-money signings have failed to come even close to justifying the transfer fee so far.

Considering these 2 issues alone it is not surprising we are currently looking so average/poor. If either of these 2 issues is resolved favorably, we will likely see a significant improvement.

But Loz, you are on a one man quest to destroy Mudryk's career before it has even begun! We're only still in the cup due to his late strike against the bar-codes and are you forgetting the wonder goal against Arsenal?!!

I know he has been more miss than hit but at least he tries and always looks to go forward, even if more often than not he runs into a defender. Sterling just winds me uo. Who hasn't screamed out loud with every wrong decision he makes? Shoots instead of passes, makes the wrong pass, dribbles and falls over, tries to beat a man when an easy pass is on, It just goes on and on. Last night when the two of them were on the pitch together it was pure comedy and not so much Sterling & Mudryk, but more like Laurel & Hardy!

I had alot of faith in Mudryk because you can see he has glimpses of quality but I just feel he hasen't got alot going on upstairs. You can tell someone like Noni who through the english system and he looks like he can fit into most teams and its just about getting the most out of him. Mudryk looks like someone whos looking to adapt to professional football let alone the premier league.

Yes. Mudryk reminds me of somebody I used to play football with who had bags of pace, and was willing to run all day, but had never played football until becoming an adult. As a result positional sense, ball skills, etc. were unpredictable at best.

I feel a lot of people have disregarded Sterling performances that was the only reason we were winning games at the start of the season. For that reason alone he can't be less than a 5.

Not destroy it. Just him.  He f**ked my wife...

Hope he has a good career. I just don't see it ever being a top flight career. He sort of reminds me of the kid at school who was played on the wing Just because he was fast and schoolboy full backs were a bit sh*t and only got a game because they showed up and were happy to get a game!

Now he is up against full backs who can actually hold their position, tackle and don't pop off the park for a quick puff on their brother's B&H he is out of his depth.

I could see him having a reasonable career at a mid table French team but never when he is up against an organised and capable defence.  He is another Cuadrado or Odoi.

sh*t, there's a few more of us that need to watching our backs then.........................!!

Sanchez 6. Pretty good shop stopper, god awful with the ball at his feet. If he's happy to play backup then that's a solid second choice.

Petrovic 7. Too early to judge but based on the early performances looks a top player and at his age *should* only get better with experience.

James 5. Still our best player when fit, sadly hasn't been fit all season. Keen to see how he fares after the surgery and a proper rehabilitation.

Chilwell 5. As above. Lets see if he can stay fit. Unfortunately got wated at LW when he was fit but still easily out best LB. Will be huge when he's back.

Cucurella 4. Couple of ok performances but still a bang average player.

Disasi 7. Always got a mistake in him sadly but seems to have settled more over the last month or so. Not convinced we'd ever win silverware with him a starter but done largely okay.

Badiashile 4. Difficult season for him so far with the injury and looked a shadow of himself upon his return. Was one of our best players last year so hoping he can regain form.

Colwill 6. Needs to play in the middle, completely wasted chasing wingers down the touchline. Classy on the ball and helps in build up.

Silva 8. Still our best CB by far.

Fofana 5. as per Chilwell and James.

Gusto 7.5. Been much better than expected in James' absence, good signing.

Gilchrist 5. Shows passion but hard to judge his actual footballing ability in the minutes he has had.

Gallagher 6. Leaves everything on the pitch, unreal work rate and does the job asked of him every game. Technically lacking and probably shouldn't start if everyone is fit.

Enzo 5. Started the season well with the masterclass against Liverpool. Been pretty anonymous since about November, putting it largely down to the tactics. Not sure why we have one of the best progressive passers in the league playing close to the striker.

Caicedo 4. Massively underwhelming for what was expected. Still young and having Lavia back will hopefully help him out.

Ugochukwu 3. Looks incredibly raw and should really have gone on loan. Not sure why we bought him, especially for the cost.

Lavia 4. Looked good in the small sample size we had. Need to get him fit and keep him that way.

Chukwuemeka 6. Looked a nail on starter in August. Means nothing if he's injured though. Excited for his return.

Palmer 8. POTS so far. Cost us the game against Boro with his finishing and a couple other anonymous performances. Least of our worries.

Mudryk 5.5. Showing much better performances. Been said since he signed but need a run of games starting.

Madueke 6.5. Our most dangerous winger currently. Needs to stay fit.

Sterling 6. Some great games but far too many big negatives. Twice cost us by being greedy plus so many anonymous games. Decent goal tally to date.

Broja 3. Feel for him as doesn't look interested. Not Chelsea quality but got to make do during AFCON.

Jackson 6.5 Some shocking finishing but to say he's only been a striker for half a year its a solid goal tally. Still young and improving, overall i'm happy. Could probably do with another option to take the work load off him.

Nkunku 6. Looked good since his return, needs to stay fit.

Pochettino. 4. We're doing better than Potter/Lampard season stylistically and results but some weird decisions. Chilwell LW/Enzo CAM/Colwill LB etc. Injuries haven't helped. Can't see him leaving anytime soon.

Fair summary. Agree with most of the above, but you are over-generous to Colwill and Disasi and harsh on Gallagher in your scores.

I want to see us playing with a style and identity and I want him to be up remonstrating when things aren’t going well, not sat on his arse with his cronies. MUST DO BETTER and quickly.

Feel better for getting that of my chest, but what a sh*t show we have been.

Agree with most of your assessments, too. Share your frustration with Sterling, Mudryk and Enzo but not your certainty about Colwill (and I'm not yet convinced by what little I've seen from Fofana). I'll reserve judgement on Caicedo but I agree we've seen nothing at all from him to get excited about. Jackson is better than a lot of people think, but is unquestionably far too under-developed at this stage to be our main striker. He's on a par with Madueke: some talent but not yet near the standard we need to be real challengers.

As I said, Sterling has one good game followed by 5 sh*t ones (despite the fact he is meant to be one of our "main men") and Jackson only has the goals he has 'cos he scored against 9 men and poor sides. We were sh*t last night but still didn't miss Jackson!

I'll admit Sterling is inconsistent but we definitely miss Jackson  he's raw but the drop off in him to his backup is massive.

When people talk about Broja they don't talk about how many good games he has a season.

They talk about how many seasons he has between good games.
