Can't say I'm bothered. Haven't seen anything in the, granted limited, time he has played to justify why we signed him.

Very decent squad player, versatile as he can play anywhere in back four and can put in a shift in midfield too.

He’s built like a sh*thouse but pretty neat on the ball, young with a lot of potential. What’s not to like?

I think he’ll be a huge loss. It’s so good to have versatile players like him in the squad.

Honestly with a bit of play time he looked like he had all the ingredients to be a super CB.

We'll sell him for a sugar-hit of on-paper profit but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being a superstar CB and gets sold to Real Madrid in 18 months time.

Interesting that he sees himself as a CB, and Portugal are apparently playong him as a CB.

In theory he has a lot of the tools to be a very good PL center back. Tall, strong, good in the air, good pass.

I am left wondering have we missed out on our own "cheap" cb signing, like Forest have with both of theirs, by our manager/directors profiling him as an inverting fullback/CDM?

Apparently his recent issues with Maresca has been how he has been used by him, on  the few occasions he has been used.

slumps head on desk...

We're looking to bring in a CB with either our own load to palace Chalobah or possibly ex youth team player Guehi. While we have two on our books who struggle, so we end up selling one that looks good when played. The player we brought in to replace last season's captain is also available six months on from signing so the rumour goes... We have players we cant sell...  just sounds a bit of a nightmare.

Yeah, exactly how I see it. Certainly not a player you want to see starting on a regular basis yet, but a handy squad player who can play a number of positions and would trust him more than Disasi and Badiashille.

Lets get rid of some of the REAL dross before we offload players who have something to offer.

Renato Veiga buy is a type of buy we will se much more of with this regime. He was under the radar player, young and clearly punching above his weight in the swiss league. We bought him for €14m and look to sell him around €20m. He was on his way to a Brighton or Dortmund where he is now rumoured to go and we can make some profit of him.

Under Roman we only bought players to get results on the pitch. Under the new regimen we will buy players to flip so to say. Which is very smart in my books.

EDIT: and the idea is to buy every player to fit the team first and foremost but if he doesn't he has value that being in Chelsea for a season can heighten.

Probably be a huge price tag and we need a striker and CB far more than a LB. Imo.

Plus, you know, we need money for our buying wingers obsession.

Ait-Nouri has a year left in summer.

Who do we expect to play when Cucurella is unavailable?

If only we had a Champions' League-winning left-back knocking around somewhere

Still annoyed about this but I've resigned to the fact we'll never see him in a Chelsea shirt again sadly.

^ I get what you are saying but if he pushes for a move, it's better to let him go.

The club and the manager clearly don't see him as a centre-back and if it'a loan, when he comes back in the summer we are back to square one.

I think Veiga is a very good but raw player. Not near enough good to be a corner stone of a Prem contender but in our Project it is fine.

If he wants to leave we should sell him for a healthy profit. If not he could go out on loan.

All the reports saying he has agreed terms. That he has already agreed terms. He wants out. Let him go. Hopefully we get good money for him. Not sure why Maresca didn't use him as a CB.  But Maresca preferred to use Disasi, etc.

Gusto can cover RB and LB. IF James is fit.

Hall wanted to leave. We let him leave.

Yep Hall pushed to leave his family are Newcastle supporters.
Not too bothered about Veiga leaving good squad player but won’t change the needle and he needs game time to develop.

If we continue to “flip players”, we will never be an elite title competing team. They just don’t exist. If they’ve bought him in and don’t think he is elite then fair enough but this feels like a money making opportunity.

If Dortmund are going after you, chances are you have very good upside potential too.
