But As much as I love Timo, he has proven consistently to not be a top forward. I think we got rid of Kai too soon Chilly and Kante were/are injury prone Jorgi was good at the limited game he played - but not dynamic enough

Yes. It's a great shame that there is no ambition any longer for the club to have a George, Richards , Acheampong, Rak Sakhi, etc break through. The issueof course will be where are the next batch coming from.

Not to be really cynical, but any moderately-flashy English-born attacking talent is going to sell for far more profit than even a hyped-up South American teenager. If Estevao Willian was Steven Williams he'd set a British record transfer fee.

Let's see what we get for Humphreys and compare. Let's also forget about the kids that have been at the club since 8 years of age that are now being released because there needs to be room for a path for these kids that we are paying money for with no evidence that their any better. Have you compared Deivid Washington to Ronnie Stutter. The only reason our academy players are selling for greater profit is because they have made their way through the academy set up at their parents' expense.

The discussion was about SIGNING established player. Was Azpi established player before he came to Chelsea? Edited July 23, 20241 yr by Bob stark
August 1, 20241 yr Veiga got his first minutes late against Club America coming on for Reece and looked like someone to maybe keep an eye on.

August 1, 20241 yr He looked good yesterday. Started on the left then took the right side after gusto had to come off.
September 14, 20241 yr I really hope he develops into one of our better players, I like what I see so far. Plus that he’s a proper geezer helps too.
September 14, 20241 yr Thought he was horrible throughout most of the match to be honest. Our midfield was getting dominated, Veiga didn't know where he needed to be at times, he doesn't look like a comfortable passer of the ball, and Caicedo was doing all of the work.

The changes helped him. Agree it was a tough match for him, and first half he looked like a player trying to figure it out, He did grow into the game, and improved along with the rest of the team post 65 mins. Not terrible for first PL start thrown into midfield away from home - hopefully gains some confidence from the team win.

My understanding is that he is a midfielder who can play LB and CB, not the other way around so I am confused as to how this is out of position?

September 15, 20241 yr 21 year old with his first PL start. I'll put the poor performance at the beginning of the game down to nerves. Thought he grew into the game and was much better in the second half. There's definitely something in there.

Was going to post the same, looked nervous and unsure positionally at first but once he settled I thought he did well.

Yeah, thought he had a really nervy first half and could easily have been hooked at H-T. But he did improve and he looks like one of these players who could get a cult following. He certainly looks better with the ball at his feet than when the opposition are coming at him, where at times he looked all over the place.
September 15, 20241 yr Veiga is not the problem, I think he has a bit of Mario Stanic in him if you know what I mean. So look for a wonder goal at West Ham.😉
