Jorgensen - 7 - Looked like the only comfortable player in our defence. Saved a clean sheet right at the end.

Veiga - 5 - Looked okay in the first half, but really poor in the 2nd. Got beat too easily.

Badiashile - 4 - Slow, poor reaction times. Not good enough.

Tosin - 6 - Looked better than our other defenders. Had a bit of composure.

Disasi - 3 - Horrible at RB.

Caicedo - 5 - Tried to dictate play from the middle, never really worked out though. Looked rushed and played a few loose passes.

Dewsbury-Hall - 3 - Gave it away too much, couldn't pick out a player in good positions. Just looks well below the standard required.

Mudryk - 2 - All he can do is run, everything else was terrible. Hasn't got a football brain at all.

Neto - 4 - Decent pace, but that's about it. Poor end product, and lost the ball too often.

Nkunku - 5 - Nice penalty, but that is pretty much it. Look disinterested at times, selfish, and just gives off the body language that he doesn't want it as much.

Guiu - 3 - Hard working, but his overall game is very sloppy and that miss was something we have become far too used to as this club.

Subs

Enzo - 7 - Looked better on the ball than anybody tonight, a nice DIRECT assist for the goal FROM DEEP. Thought I would capitalise the most important parts there.

Madueke - 7 - Shouldn't even be considering selling him. Best player in pre-season, a really well taken goal tonight. Looks a better option than Neto currently.

Palmer - 3 - Thrown into the false 9 position, doesn't look ready for the new season, everything is a bit loose from him right now.

Gusto - 2 - Really poor. May as well have not come on. Gave the ball away that gave them a great chance to score and couldn't pick up anybody from corners. Summed up our performance as whole really. Slow, lack of concentration, lazy.

Lavia - 5 - Didn't have much time to make an impact.

Maresca - 4 - No reaction from him with us playing the usual slow sh*te football, so this is obviously what he is looking for. Subs were good, but him bringing back the false 9 is something nobody wants to see.

Thats about what I would have given. Maybe another point to Caicedo. I also thought Dewsbury-Hall wasn't as bad as a 3. He certainly wasn't as bad as some of our defenders.

I struggle for words. All I can say is its early in our season and apparently Servette are well into theirs.

Let's see where we are after a few more games but I seriously think they will fancy thier chances at home. Maybe we'll be better away from home. I did sense some unease among the lads tonight.

I'm trying to be patient.

I think we will definitely take a while to settle this season. But the same happened last season. We won 1 and lost 3 of our first 6 league games and I remember a labored win against AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup around this time too. In many ways that game against Wimbledon was similar to tonight's unconvincing win.

Steady on. Shouldn't you change your handle before you pile on to the next boss?

Palmer looks rusty. Is there a chance we could still get a few quid for Badiashille?

No no no.. Chalobah needs to be sold because he is worse than Benoit. 🙃

Sry to bring that up again, i am just fed up.

I'm with you. It's absolutely appalling about Chalobah... He is much better than any of the defenders we currently have.  I don't fully understand all the "pure profit crap".  If we bought Benoit for 30 mil and sell him for 30 mil. That should even out 30mil on the books spent. If we spent 30 mil on Benoit and sell Chalobah for 30mil for "pure profit". Wouldn't that be the almost the same? What's the point of pushing out our best defender and keeping a crap one. Benoit hasn't improved a bit over the last 2 years. More of the opposite.

I doubt we get close to 30m for Benoit.

Positives - We won, so you always take that no matter what.

Negative - The performance. Nothing I saw suggests we're beating Wolves on the weekend.

Agreed... almost like we were trying to give them a goal at the end.

Some time later, being more reasonable:

It was not the most pleasing performance, but then again the very unusual line-up and everything else about the game, well it all still feels like pre-season. We need to wait for the 10 game mark before we start getting too judgey. There were positives. We won. We got a clean sheet. Madueke took his chance well and the through ball from Enzo was class.

That was a very disappointing performance.

Maresca' tactics showed no variation against opposition we should have beaten comfortably, his lack of experience shows.

Nonis goal was excellent and a relief.

It would have been extremely uncomfortable going to Switzerland with just a single goal advantage.

Very concerning how many chances were afforded to such a low ranking team ( my estimate of calibre is somewhere between the championship and League 1) .

The players looked unfit or tired, not surprising after they have trailed around the united states for a meaningless series of friendly games.

If thats the best Maresca can muster from his chosen 20/21 players goodness knows what we would have got from the cast of 45+.

The better players looked stifled. The average ones looked average.

Yeah we won and will probably qualify but the next run of Premier League games could be testing.

Feels like a pre season friendly, the players looked tired, the team is still gelling and other bullsh*t phrases wont wash.

The Crowd seem more aware of the situation than the management.

Gaps in the stands, quiet periods during play, exasperation and boos at half and full time,

Cmon Maresca get a move on ! Chop chop!

I had the (mis) fortune to be at the game last night

the apathy in the ground, the total disconnect with the supporters us worrying

there weee players on that pitch that are plainly either not good enough or are not putting a shift in

hiw on earth disasi mudryk badders are even at the club beggars belief. Sterling is so much better than mudryk the bloke is useless. Yet we freeze better players out of the squad and force them out

changing your complete back 5 wtf is that all about surely the defence need game time together

and I’m going to wolves 😢

Hahaha yeah because Maresca has certainly been concerned about upsetting players so far...

It's his bosses that he's got to stop worrying about upsetting.

I think he's waiting for his game plan to work and we start getting positive results before pushing his weight around at the top. He has no leverage atm as he only just started.

But I also doubt he'd rock it as much as others have done in the past, like poch at the end of the season or tuchel straight to their faces when they arrived. Lol

And remember ppl, this wasn't the proper first 11, but i agree they are woeful, and I hope the main lot don't get injured.

I also believe he underestimated the opposition and used this game to try new positions for players (like preseason). I have a feeling it will be back to normal at wolves. But I also believe we may lose that game anyway.

A clean sheet and win. Will take that.

It's pretty obvious we're not up to speed yet and the manager is still trying to implement his ideas. Think there are a lot of players playing without confidence too.

Noni is a player who puts a smile on my face, hope he stays this season as he could become a very important player for us. Not too much else to shout about - thought Caicedo was my man of the match. was quietly impressed by him and the shift he put in. Can see him having a strong season for us and thriving

Pretty sad state of affairs but if we continue with no urgency and committment (like yesterday) and lose or even draw v Wolves then several pitchforks will be out. Fans are not going to accept overpaid primadonnas going through the motion at this club while lads like Gallagher, Chalobah who was anything but  overpaid primadonnas is pushed out.

Passion, committment and wins and the fans will get behind Maresca and the team and we'll be OK.

If it unravels and we continue to look lethargic and passionless then the Bridge will burn this season.
