How did Jörgensen look tonight? I'm getting worried if Sanchez is our number 1 for the forseeable future.

Looked decent but I'm giving it a while before declaring either way. Learned my lesson from Petrovic.

Jorgensen - 7 - Looked like the only comfortable player in our defence. Saved a clean sheet right at the end.

Veiga - 5 - Looked okay in the first half, but really poor in the 2nd. Got beat too easily.

Badiashile - 4 - Slow, poor reaction times. Not good enough.

Tosin - 6 - Looked better than our other defenders. Had a bit of composure.

Disasi - 3 - Horrible at RB.

Caicedo - 5 - Tried to dictate play from the middle, never really worked out though. Looked rushed and played a few loose passes.

Dewsbury-Hall - 3 - Gave it away too much, couldn't pick out a player in good positions. Just looks well below the standard required.

Mudryk - 2 - All he can do is run, everything else was terrible. Hasn't got a football brain at all.

Neto - 4 - Decent pace, but that's about it. Poor end product, and lost the ball too often.

Nkunku - 5 - Nice penalty, but that is pretty much it. Look disinterested at times, selfish, and just gives off the body language that he doesn't want it as much.

Guiu - 3 - Hard working, but his overall game is very sloppy and that miss was something we have become far too used to as this club.

Subs

Enzo - 7 - Looked better on the ball than anybody tonight, a nice DIRECT assist for the goal FROM DEEP. Thought I would capitalise the most important parts there.

Madueke - 7 - Shouldn't even be considering selling him. Best player in pre-season, a really well taken goal tonight. Looks a better option than Neto currently.

Palmer - 3 - Thrown into the false 9 position, doesn't look ready for the new season, everything is a bit loose from him right now.

Gusto - 2 - Really poor. May as well have not come on. Gave the ball away that gave them a great chance to score and couldn't pick up anybody from corners. Summed up our performance as whole really. Slow, lack of concentration, lazy.

Lavia - 5 - Didn't have much time to make an impact.

Maresca - 4 - No reaction from him with us playing the usual slow sh*te football, so this is obviously what he is looking for. Subs were good, but him bringing back the false 9 is something nobody wants to see.

Tough watch again.

I'm being patient so not going to throw the toys out of the pram yet this season.

Less said about 1st half the better.

2nd half about 5% better, but subs killed momentum again.

Struggling to see what KDH offers, hopefully he settles, because he has to be a better player than he has looked so far.

Guiu not ready yet, needs a season or 2 to find his feet in front of goal, work rate is exceptional though.

For every good thing Mudryk does, he follows up with something completely brain dead.

Jorgensen did pretty well, Madueke excellent when he came on, as was Enzo. I thought Gusto was sloppy though.

Expecting loads of games this in conference league, as it will likely be a heavily rotated side.

Disjointed, but 1st win, and clean sheet hopefully builds some momentum.

Still looked disorganized and lost , dwelling on the ball too long, defence still can’t close down attackers, far too easy to cross the ball. What a waste of money KDH will be, about as impressive as Bakayoko…

I got flashbacks to the duller games under Sarri watching that. Only we don't have Hazard to get fed up and win despite the coaching this time around...

Possible that Neto might provide the thrills once he has settled in.

Audible buzz in the crowd in the first half when he got on the ball and took on the left back

I fear that he is going to take all of what makes Palmer so good to watch out of him, similar to what Guardiola would have done if he stayed at City.

Agreed, players like Palmer need the freedom to roam. Not going to get that under Maresca, expecting a far less productive season from him because of this sadly.

And finally some good news. Jermaine Jenas has been sacked by the BBC for alleged "inappropriate behaviour in the workplace".

I bet it involves inappropriate wearing of a Tottenham kit.

Dodgy texts to a lady on the one show allegedly

Wow. That was really bad. The Chuckle Brothers in defence. A joker on the wing. Some raw Spanish kid upfront. I guess this is what a billion pounds gets you these days.

I know we were resting players, but this lot missed the cull of deadwood. And they looked  barely able to compete at this level. Scary the way our club has been run into the ground.

We are so done as a serious force.

So twice Palmer has played and twice this idiot has wasted him, first on RW and now as a force nine, JUST play him at 10 ffs

I was feeling apprehensive that it was in fact Poch that got the best player out of him last season. and he’d be in for a much quieter season under Pep’s fluffer!

Rumours that Palmer has got an injury

He was one of the few players that was reliable on that front last season. Lets hope nothing serious if so.

But the problem is that everybody in football knows he's made of biscuits. Allowing Madueke to leave at this point would be a major mistake. Both should be here until the winter window at least.

I think he's probably also struggling from having last season's entire support structure ripped away from him. Lost his supportive manager, his fellow leading light of the team in Gallagher, and his dressing room mentor Uncle Raheem. Then compound that by playing him in positions that aren't his best ... kid's head is probably spinning.

We've learned nothing new from tonight. We are still very poor at possession based football, we pass it around at the back pretending like we are confident, but it's fooling nobody. The lack of concentration is staggering, and even against the weakest sides we will face all season, we will present them with multiple chances because the majority of our players just seem to expect the ball to arrive at their feet with no pressure on them. Then you have moments like that Gusto pass that was just straight at the opposition. We did that in every pre-season game and conceded goals from it, we did it against City and conceded a goal from it. Tonight we got lucky. You can't even put it down to getting used to Maresca's tactics, it's been issue at the club for years.

The fans were groaning once again, the boo's were there at half time. This football is not going to cut it, it has to change. Fans are just going to stop turning up if this continues. There is almost zero entertainment on show. Every single game it's the same tempo from first minute to last. You can feel the atmosphere around the stadium getting more and more restless. You could even hear Jason Cundy in the background going mental. I'm not even being hyperbolic, the football we are playing is the worst I have ever seen in my life. I deliberately avoid watching teams like City, because their football bores me, but at least they are effective with it, we are just painful. There were multiple instances again where we played back to the goalkeeper from an attacking position, why do we do this? It's insane.

My thought exactly.  I can see this bloke crushing this lad. All he achieved last season may well count for nought this season.

I have a bad feeling this Maracas bloke isn’t going to last all that long. It’s hardly a bold prediction, but he’s going to hear a lot of ‘sacked in the morning’ sang at him this season.

Lord knows who could make a top four side out of this mess though. It’s like a blind man trying to complete a jigsaw that someone has taken half the pieces out of and then thrown in the pieces of three other random jigsaws.

I struggle for words. All I can say is its early in our season and apparently Servette are well into theirs.

Let's see where we are after a few more games but I seriously think they will fancy thier chances at home. Maybe we'll be better away from home. I did sense some unease among the lads tonight.

I'm trying to be patient.
